Which Premier League sides have fixture swings in the coming Gameweeks?

Currently sitting at 773rd in the world, Let’s Talk FPL’s Andy gives his thoughts on upcoming fixture swings for three Premier League teams.

Double Gameweeks are some of the best parts of any FPL season, but we can often fall into the trap of tunnel vision, where we forget there are other teams and players to consider.

In this article, I wanted to take a look at some future fixture swings for teams, both in the short-term future, but also a bit longer term.

Chelsea

With the amount of rotation we’ve seen under Thomas Tuchel, I’d be a bit wary of going for too many Chelsea players, but the fixtures look kind in the near future.

  • Gameweek 27 – Everton (h)
  • Gameweek 28 – Leeds United (a)
  • Gameweek 29 – Blank
  • Gameweek 30 – West Brom (h)
  • Gameweek 31 – Crystal Palace (a)

West Brom, Leeds and Palace are all in the bottom three for expected goals conceded this season, with Everton the seventh-worst team in the league. The fixtures from Gameweek 27 look prime for goals.

With Timo Werner (£9.2m) finally getting a long-overdue goal on Monday against Newcastle United, he’s one to keep an eye on, especially with FPL managers looking at Harry Kane (£11.0m) for a potential Double Gameweek in 26. This could be an easy switch later on.

I once asked my local library if they had any books on turtles.
      Hardback? they asked.
Yes, I replied, with tiny little eyes.

Please can we have the ability to follow posts and be notified of replies? If this has to be via email for now, then so be it. I know we can do this for our own posts, but I always forget, and would like the option to turn it on and off, not just for my own posts, but for others.

Ideally, we could navigate all this on-site. I know, I said the same thing 4 years ago, but there's been been very little progress in terms of giving power to the users to gain access to the information and opinions they want, and for insight to accumulate, discussions to last more than 2 minutes, and we all know this comment section format is not fit for that purpose. Time to find a work-around or redesign and actually implement!

Yeah, a few chat changes would be welcomed, notifications, emojis, the ability to post pics instead of having to write out the team everytime, etc.

I'll be honest, I find this forum pretty out of date. I've been here for 10 years and it's barely changed. Lots of small quality of life changes to improve comments, following replies and facilitating discussion would improve it so much.

Commented on this on the last article but to repeat myself the comments section is not fit for purpose. Everyone on the payroll of FFS, doesn't actually use FFS but they use twitter instead which tells you all you need to know and the contempt they have for regulars on here. This, along with them putting £ first and promoting gambling sites constantly, is the reason I'll not be renewing my membership next year. I would encourage others to do the same

I am considering my membership next year yes. This year I am a member of 3 paid sites (using the money I won in ML last year) to compare and contrast and will pick one next year. What about releasing roadmap to members and involve members to provide input to roadmap?

It's been a slow go to get some of the Members updates done that we wanted pre-season but they're coming along. There have been loads of smaller updates but the Comparison Tool redo and home Dashboard in Members are getting very close. A little Profile update is fairly close too.

I keep big spreadsheets with the input that comes through things like these Hot Topics, so most of it is recorded. Happy to do some google form stuff too to get feedback! The more feedback the better in my view

Cheers Geoff ... agree with the merier the feedback the better but it will come with expectations and if it is presented/communicated with visualisation to users (which features, what to be prioritised, when to be expected etc.), you will get better UI/UX with realistic expectations. Whatever visualisation of roadmap works I think, including spreadsheet.

There's been a noticeable slowdown of people flagging comments; that flagging is hugely helpful to push Hot Topics. So if you see something that's good, or post something of your own that you think is Hot Topic worthy, use the flag option.

That's there not just for bad posts but for good ones too 🙂

I agree largely, I really want on site notifications. Still top of my list of things that would improve the comments section. As well as following others which I think/hope isn't too far away.

There's some basic notification functionality in place in Dev now that will be worked on, after we test and fix bugs on some decently large Members updates.

I'll also add that a 'General' chat that filters all comments through to one place, and then having comments on specific articles being about that article will be hugely helpful.

Not sure if you've tried it, but you can set 'Notify me of replies' as auto - this is what I do, and then just untick if I ever don't want notifications fora post. That's in the profile section (which also has an update coming in the next month or two)
        .

Thanks for the update Geoff. A general chat seems like a reasonable idea to keep articles more 'on-topic'. Of course, the articles would need to be about things that were worth having discussions about if you do want discussions. Not making a judgement here on whether they already are or aren't.

I know I can turn notifications on permanently, but i don't want to tbh. I'd rather get nothing than everything by default, unless it was all kept on-site. I can bookmark something if I really want to revisit it later, but onece I get to that option, the discussion would have died anyway.

Yeah I just want it all on site. It's less of an issue for me because I always have email open and FFS open, but for almost everyone it's vital to have that all within the FFS ecosystem.

And it's a great point about the comments under articles. How many comments would an article about some non-FPL thing get? Likely very few. But that's not really an issue. In some ways that actually would help Editorial see what is successful and interesting.

Good perspective on the Editorial. Helps also to be focussed in writing with a purpose, and also knowing that people may be more likely to read and engage with it.

Sort by comments by article as a way to filter out 90% of the irritating users rather than because of engagement with the article subject.

Sorry I still don't understand. Like groups of users going to posts to have specific chats? That's possible now and doesn't really happen.

The only option now is general, so the General Chat would just be an extension of this with added specific article comment sections.

But yeah sorry something about the way you wrote that comment, I think I missed the point

Full disclosure I don't think Mark ever got this going, after that chat! But in the last 6 months or I guess from June 1 we now have in place the basic functionality for a message box to appear top right corner. It needs to be finessed because it's a bit buggy but for the first time (ever) FFS has made progress on onsite notifications

This is great to hear. If I could actually get decent value out of my time spent on this site, I wouldn't hate myself so much for being here. This is certainly one of the most important steps in the right direction, in my opinion.

I like what Mark had to say, but there are surely other solutions. Just not a fan of stagnation when the issues are so easily identified. Still, it's my choice to be here, so I can only blame myself for my frustration haha.

Looking forward to seeing it, and let me know if you need a software tester 😉

Just read this in a Guardian article - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2021/feb/16/pep-guardiola-warns-international-break-will-lead-to-more-covid-cases

"At the start of this month Fifa announced that clubs were not obliged to release players for internationals in countries that require a quarantine of five or more days on return. For elite sportspeople in the UK a 10-day quarantine applies after visiting red list countries such as Portugal and all of South America.

This means City could order Bernardo Silva, João Cancelo, Rúben Dias, Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Agüero to remain at home but Guardiola said City were not currently minded to do so even though those players would then miss the game at Leicester on 3 April. “The players are going to the national team,” the manager said"

It's still a ways away, but something worth considering for those with a double up in city's defence, and other players that will fall into this category

Yeah this is true. Brings the GW30 Free Hit into play if this is how it turns out. Lot can change of course in the intervening weeks, like countries being added to and coming off the red list, and of course the approach of the PL and individual clubs. As is, Bruno Fernandes would be a huge one too, as well as Richarlison, Firmino, Martinez.

I can’t see Southampton keeping a clean sheet against anyone except SHU between 25 and 27 in the 3 or six fixtures possible, Brighton could get two in their three games IMHO, but it’s tempting

Would be very careful to get kdb in already now. Will he be matched carefully? Is he matchfit? City plays well and no need to rush and take risks.

And how bad he was the matches before his injury...

Surely the below is much stronger? Rudiger has awful fixtures in the double.

        Martinez Areola
Cancelo Stones Shaw Struijk Vestergaard (does he have a DGW in 26?)
        Salah Bruno Son Maddison Gundogan
        Kane Bamford Watkins

      Currently on this:

      Pope
      Alioski, Shaw, Cancelo, Stones
      Fernandes, Gundo, Salah
      Ings(c), Bamford, DCL

      Martinez, Grealish, Barnes, Dier

      Will probably do:
Alioski to Rudiger and Ings/Bam to Watkins for DGW26 and BB.

      All sound OK?

Im not sure I can get him in without losing out on another "big hitter".

I may be able to squeeze Son in but if I attempt to get either of those I would then need to wild card instead!

How many big hitters do you have?

            It seems possible to have:

            Martinez
            Cancelo Stones
            Salah Bruno Son
            Kane

Then fill the rest with Leeds and DGW26 players?

Without knowing the DGW fixtures GW26 I have no idea what to with this lot.
Still have my WC, FH and BB chip left and the BB chip is a real pain in the ass

Thinking of doing Rashford and Antonio to Raphinha and Ings and next week Bamford to Kane what will give me 9 DGW players in GW26.
Could also still WC next week to get me 11 DGW players but have to ignore the BB chip for now.

      Martinez Pope
      Dias Cancelo Tarkowski Coufal Mitchell
      Gundo Bruno Rashford Salah Soucek
      Antonio Bamford DCL

On WC, which of these 3 would you choose for GW 26 onwards:
      A. Son, DCL, Ings
      B. Grealish, DCL, Kane
      C. Maddison / Barnes, Ings, Kane

Would like Son and Kane but short of ££. Veering towards B.

            Of course not (for Bruno).
If a choice needs to be made in your case then Salah and hope for a Son haul (good tc option to tbh). But you’ll need a big sofa to hide behind.
