SCOUT’S GAMEWEEK 7 PICKS

Whilst the 10.5 target of Romelu Lukaku requires more than two attacking returns and rotation risks abound elsewhere at Chelsea, at least Antonio Rudiger should (we repeat, should) be a more secure starter who will expect a clean sheet at a bare minimum against a Southampton side that is goalless in their last three matches.

Despite invoking a lack of trust among the Fantasy community during his two seasons as Brighton, could the form of Neal Maupay finally stick? He has netted four times so far this season, while he has a promising record of two goals from two league starts against Arsenal.

Ollie Watkins is yet to score or assist this season but has played all 270 minutes since Dean Smith switched to a wing-back system that enables both he and Danny Ings to start up front. He has far fewer minutes than Ings, yet outnumbers him ten shots to six, eight of which were on target. Facing a Tottenham Hotspur side in disarray will not intimidate him.

Vitaly Janelt bagged a goal during last Saturday’s 3-3 thriller against Liverpool and is a bit of a gamble to out-perform his 5.5 target at West Ham. He’s remarkably had more ‘big chances’ than Ivan Toney this season and is joint-top among Bees players for chances created, too.

Manchester City breezed to a clean sheet against the European champions last weekend, racking up a fifth successive league shut-out in the process. So what price on another win-to-nil at Anfield? All of City’s defenders will require at least an attacking return to beat their points targets, and Aymeric Laporte – who has racked up as many shots in the box as Jack Grealish and Ferran Torres this season – is as good a bet as any to achieve that.

EL STATTO’S GAMEWEEK 7 PICKS

Away to Chelsea, the Saints are defensively stronger and limited Man City to just one shot on target during their 0-0 stalemate. So can they repeat this again? His target score is the lowest from the defensive picks but, with Stephens injured, Jan Bednarek will start.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang had a much improved performance against Spurs and, with the pace and creativity in Arsenal’s three supporting midfielders, could it be that they have turned the corner?

Still settling in at Aston Villa, Danny Ings is their main man now that Jack Grealish has left. Spurs were awful in the north London derby whereas Ings is a forward who doesn’t need lots of chances to score and I could see him adding to the pressure on Nuno Espirito Santo this weekend.

After an indifferent start, I think Ivan Toney showed what he is all about against Liverpool. Brentford and West Ham are two teams who like to play and attack, so I’m hopeful there will be plenty of chances.

Gabriel Jesus should play in the big game against Liverpool. Both will go for the win rather than settle for a draw, with Man City wanting to bounce back after a midweek defeat. If Jesus starts with Kevin De Bruyne and Jack Grealish supporting, I wouldn’t rule out a goal for the Brazilian.

HOW DOES FANTASY5 WORK?

Image

Fantasy5 is easy to play as it follows the exact same scoring system as FPL, just without the bonus points.

It’s also the fastest media outlet for live Fantasy points, displaying all player points from the five games in question, as well as the live score and time.

For the more detailed lowdown, head here.

The competition is limited to one entry per person per round and selections must be submitted before kick-off of the first eligible match.

If two or more entrants correctly select five players who all score more than their points target, then the prize pot is split among all winners.

Alright. I'm gonna try a WC8 draft that is a bit different:

    Ramsdale Foster
    Cancelo Laporte Rudiger Duffy Livramento
    Salah KdB Raphinha Saka Mbeumo
    Lukaku Antonio Scarlett

It's a classic 3-5-2. Taking risks on the City defenders who have strong offensive potential (Laporte has 10 shots in the box, the joint most in the entire team and he missed 2 games)

I also go KdB as a captaincy differential. His /90 stats last season were the best in the league. If I need TAA back I can upgrade Laporte or Duffy funded by KdB down to a cheaper City mid if one emerges that's better which makes my team more template but it's got an edge over some of the classic template picks.

I like taking a chance on Laporte with his offensive numbers and Mbeumo is also hiding under the radar while playing effectively as a forward. Cheaper than Toney, midfielder, lower owned. What's not to like?

Like this a lot. I so want to get KDB in but I've played my WC and it will take too many moves to make that happen. Solid draft

Even with the fixtures, don't think KDB can justify the premium 11.9 price tag ..he is competing with elite goalscorers in that price range whereas he mostly relies on assists for points

I don't think the budget is that tight that's the thing.

A lot of the budget gets sunk into the bench. I was also toying with an Aubameyang draft earlier. If I can afford KdB, why not just go with him? No one else will have him and this is an opportunity to pick him up on WC and give him a chance with a good run of games.

In the end, if I don't have TAA on GW8 WC I think it's better to give it a go. Either KdB or Son for a few weeks. These guys can score big points and are low owned. The spine of: Ramsdale, Cancelo, Rudiger, Salah, Raphinha, Antonio, Lukaku is strong and then the supporting guys you can switch around. This is just one of the options.

          I like KDB - certainly for GW8 - 10 City love Burnley.

I've been thinking of threenium but without Ronaldo

          Salah - Lukaku - KDB/Aub

Do you have a plan to move around certain players?
I think it’s looks ok for 5/6 weeks but feels fairly inflexible as it stands and will probably want Trent back

      1. Maximus Bonimus Pointimus

I'd be very hesitant as well

If KDB was 10.0 it would encourage more people to take a punt at times during the season & brave his glass tendons, rotational manager, and refusal to take penalties even when on them

But having him at 12.0 is just silly imo - especially when you look at his 6 season history

Could imagine even trying to captain him & Pep benching him, him going off injured (*again*), fluffing countless 1:1s in the false 9 role (*again*), shirking penalty duties etc etc

Super player, but a real headache in FPL for pretty much 5 of the last 6 seasons

Yep he was fantasy gold at 9.5m 2 seasons back but you can have 2 defenders from that team for the same price and probably better output

KDB not on pens, points Will be shared and occasional rotation.

I like most of it but I just think KDB isn't worth the funds unless he's picked up some form. His stats are nearly always good but if it's not translating to points then it's just far too much money IMO. Only other real issue I'd have would be Mbeumo, he's looked good but he's nearly reminding me of someone like (but not as bad as) Traore, passes the eye test in that he gets chances and into good positions but I'm not sure whether he'll stop being as wasteful as he has been so far. Should have had far more than his sole return this season. Other than that though I like it, and those two could work out of course but I'm just a bit sceptical so far.

Looks nice.. I guess the only difference between this and template would be TAA, Grealish & Toney vs Duffy, KDB & Mbeumo.

Toney is on penalties and better finishing than Mbeumo. I would still go with Toney, if picking Brentford attacker (from GW10).

I would get both Sarr & Gallaghar instead of KDB.. Might even consider Vardy for the price.

        Mbuemo/Scarlett > Toney/Luiz

Shave off the 0.8m by going Saka > ESR or KDB > [anyone].

Also gets you an extra actual playing player...

Why does that matter? It's better to have 1 Chelsea defender than 0. And you make up the gains from the City defenders - and I think City will keep more clean sheets anyhow.

I don’t think it is y too bad. Personally I would downgrade KDB s and get Vardy instead of Scarlett. Go 3-4-3 maybe even leaving money itb to get Ronaldo instead of Vardy gw14. The way city play have the feeling KDB will end up being an expensive assister of the assister.
I also feel you are getting KDB too early. Let him prove his fitness. Gameweek 15 on wards better choice for KDB IMO.

KdB has played started 3 games in a row. I think that's enough time to prove he's fit. Ofc internationals could screw things up but let's see. I have all IB to decide.

This is why I think Vardy as your third striker would be a better option than KDB. Better value, on pens, focal point and crucially no international games. Nice Leicester fixtures coming up easy switch to Ronaldo. Also many on here seem to ignore Vardy could give you a cheaper guaranteed edge instead of KDB. Rest of team looks great hard to quibble with it.

    So, here is my thinking,
i think i wouldn’t take any hit this week though i have trent, bamford jota and 1 ft.
Many will take hits, so that will be an advantage in OR.

If i play allan instead of trent and he scores 2 as usual. Am i sure the player i want to bring for trent will give me 6? Even i he gives me 6 that will be considered as 2 which is equal to allan. Waste of a transfer unless i keep him for 6-7 week to mitigate that -4 points or WC next week

    Sanchez
    TAA Reguilon Tierney
    Salah Bruno Jota Raphinha Benrahma
    Antonio King

    Begović Cash Ayling Perica*

    1FT, 2.4m ITB

    a) Jota to Grealish / Son

    c) another option

    A) Shaw > Rudiger
    B) Torres > Raph /Saka
    C) Jota > Raph/Saka
    D) Shaw > Rudiger/Alonso + Torres> Raph/Saka -4
    E) Shaw > Rudiger/Alonso + Jota> Raph/Saka -4

What do you guys think? Basically have Shaw, Torres and Jota and no WC. So much needs fixing...Torres might play, Raph might not 😐

Too expensive. If he were 5.0 or 5.5 maybe. But even then, Mbeumo is playing up front and is 5.5m.

My attempt at a ‘different’ Wildcard for gameweek 8. I distinctly remember Hause’s amazing xG stats when he was playing a few years ago… if they play 3 atb he’s excellent.

    Raya Gunn
    Cancelo Laporte White Hause Livramento
    Salah Son Torres Gallagher Luiz
    Lukaku Aubameyang Toney

He doesn't start. Tuanzebe is first choice I think. Only didn't play last week because United is his parent club.

    Which move is best?

    A) Traore —> ESM (allows funds to get Raphinha next week for Sarr)

    B) Traore —> Saka (no easy way to get Raphinha next week)

Will almost certainly be doing Bamford -> Jimenez this week with the FT (assuming no fitness issues with Jimi confirmed in Wolves presser).

    Is Jota -> Raphinha worth a -4?

    B) St Max

    D) Other

      A) I think it's been confirmed that Jimi will be released after the second international game so should be fine for GW8.

I'm thinking of doing it. I think I'd only do it next GW anyway to fund Cancelo, so might as well pull the trigger now.

I keep eying up the Liverpool fixture in 8

Watford have had a cushy defensive run when you look at the nature of the attacks they have faced - especially if you look past the odd dymanic of week 1 fixtures. Really poor XGC already.

    Villa
    Brighton
    Spurs
    Wolves
    Norwich
    Newcastle

Don't have him but I' wouldn't be selling Jota before 8.

If he starts it will be for Mane otherwise not. Firmino is resting this IB.

There were times the fab 4 played together back end of last season so can see it being replayed this time. Think there are better than even odds he starts myself all being equal

In the 8 games or so from 31 there were iirc

        3 x Jota misses
        2 x Mane misses
        1 x Bobby miss
        2 x Fab 4
