Mark Sutherns is back alongside Andy North for another Premium Members-only chat to kick off Fantasy Premier League (FPL) Gameweek 9.

The video is an exclusive for Premium Members – and there’ll be plenty more to come in 2021/22.

Mark is recording for our subscribers every Gameweek throughout the upcoming campaign, so sign up via this link in order to see his regular appearances.

This week’s episode focuses on the biggest development of the week in Romelu Lukaku‘s (£11.6m) injury, discussing the best replacements for the Belgian as well as the points potential of Kai Havertz (£8.1m) when neither Lukaku or Timo Werner (£8.6m) are available.

Additionally, the pair talk about the emotional rollercoaster of owning a Chelsea defender, before they both reveal their Gameweek 9 line-ups.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not bad for Havertz actually, wing should suit him more

I would rather have Mount in my team vs Havertz.

You cannot see Tuchel leaving Mount on the bench now...

I think that's a bit overstretched imo. There is a small probability that he starts as a false 9 but with both Kaku and Werner out, and playing Norwich, he will want to rotate and give the likes of Havertz/CHO/Ziyech a chance for sure.

I doubt Tuchel will be benching Mount at this point.

I really don't get this question - so many people ask it. That's what the Captain Poll is for. How will my 1 vote on your 4 choices sway you over 4000+ votes on the Captain Poll?

Are you saying the 3 people commenting at 1.35pm on a Friday know better than the 4000 people that have voted all week?

Tbf you could say that about all the little straw polls on player A over B.

Fair enough, but it's still a tiny snapshot.

Decent odds, though not guaranteed. Silva is around.

Would start both. If one doesn't start, unlikely they are subbed one.

Chelsea CS odds higher than Southampton.

Good Chance that Christensen gets benched for Azpi and James starts at RWB. Chilwell I’d say 90% chance he starts after coming off 66th minute in CL.

With Salah being a near permanent captain option now there are very few GWs where you can move from Mo. This week feels to me like the opportunity to go elsewhere with Kai.

Don't think it's entirely but he will very often rotate and seems like Chilwell is first choice.

      1. ZeBestee
        • 11 Years
        4 years, 1 month ago

I don't buy that Chilwell is first choice. While he has done well recently, we keep on forgetting very fast that Alonso played the first 6 games or so with Chilwell entirely on the bench. Players don't lose places out of the blues, more so if they had done well in the near past.

        1. The Bandit

I actually tried to hold onto the idea that Alonso still had some life in him as the preferred starter - but the games Chilwell has now started in, coupled with the fact he has been subbed early (you'd think, in order to rest for next game)... leads me to believe he's first choice again.

When Alonso came on against Malmo he got skinned 4 or 5 times and gave away some fouls. Wasn't really the best cameo, whereas Chilwell was pretty faultless up to then.

I don't think Alonso is dead in the water at all, we need him for rotation - but I've flipped over to the side of Chilwell being the primary LWB now. You play the fixtures, and the fixtures are the best.

Yeah. He was subbed early mid-week after delivering another excellent performance with an assist for Daka. Will wait for the presser.

Other than that what do you think?

    2. Puntillimon
      • 10 Years

Iheanacho a doubt, daka did his chances no harm over the midweek to pair with vardy and Vardy surely 1st choice

      1. Bojam
        • 8 Years
        4 years, 1 month ago

I don't think so. Not for now anyway. Daka very similar to Vardy. Will play the midweek games and might eat into Vardy's minutes when the fixtures come thick and fast over the winter. Iheanacho more at risk of Rodgers changing shape again when Barnes or Lookman might come back in.

        That's my read anyway.

Agree. Our LWB has been the starting spot with more goal threat potential than from the right side.

Our right sided players have the better crosses on them on the whole, and the way we play often ends up with these crosses coming in & the LWB is running onto it towards the back post.

LWB is handy because theres only two spots. I do think Alonso drops out when not 'preffered'. Have to remember we were considering selling him to fund the Lukaku deal this summer too...

Currently prefer Azpi or Rudiger for the other spots. Mendy a shout, but expensive compared to other keepers.

I do love James as an option and what he brings to the attack, but his cameos are very annoying. Azpi is still getting lots of playtime. I don't know if James missing out on occasion is more because "we have to play Azpi" as he's great vs. Tuchel preferring Azpi at RWB to James or not... but I do think there's something in James Tuchel doesn't love.

He even experimented Azpi at RWB over James last season, for some reason, and it's weird to have done that if he didn't see something in one/both players games as the reason for that.

Either way that reason isn't great for James because we have got plenty of RCB options (Azpi/Chalobah/Christensen), which means Azpi can still get frequent playtime wherever vs. James, which is only RWB at the moment.
