Scout’s Fantasy5 mini-league winner selects Gameweek 22 picks

Sponsored by Fantasy5

They think it’s all over. It is now.

In November, Fantasy Football Scout unveiled a nine-week battle that pitted ten staff members and Pro Pundit experts against each other. To determine who truly had the best eye for a Fantasy player, the FFS Challenge mini-league took place between Gameweeks 12 and 21.

The final winner is revealed below and – to prove that Fantasy5 is most certainly not over – that person will be revealing their five picks for Gameweek 22.

To have a chance of winning £10,000 in this completely free-to-play game, all you need to do is correctly predict a player to beat their given points target from each of the weekend’s selected Premier League matches.

The deadline is at 15:00 GMT on Saturday 15 January.

Image

You can even set up a mini-league and compete with colleagues, friends and family, something we’ve done recently.

A small prize was up for grabs but, more importantly, so were bragging rights. Below the ‘how to’, you can see which players the Scout winner has selected for Gameweek 22.

ENTER YOUR FANTASY5 TEAM HERE

HOW DOES FANTASY 5 WORK?

Fantasy5 is free to play and it follows the exact same scoring system as FPL, just without the bonus points.

It’s as simple as this: pick a player from each of the Gameweek 22 matches below and, if they all exceed their individual ‘points targets’ (a par score set by Fantasy5), you’ll be in the money:

  • Burnley v Leicester City
  • Aston Villa v Manchester United
  • Liverpool v Brentford
  • West Ham United v Leeds United
  • Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal

Anyone who manages to pick successful outperformers from each match will be in the money. Competition is limited to one entry per person per round. Full terms and conditions are here.

£100 prize every month in Scout's Fantasy5 mini-league

SCOUT’S RESULTS FOR GAMEWEEK 21

Gameweek 21’s challenge saw all five matches take place, with several of the most-backed either blanking (Cristiano Ronaldo, Trent Alexander-Arnold) or not featuring at all (Ollie Watkins).

However, the following nine players successfully exceeded their assigned points target: Mads Roerslev, Anthony Gordon, Enock Mwepu, Alexis Mac Allister, Dan Burn, Allan, Stuart Dallas, Jack Harrison and Joao Moutinho.

This brought success for four of the ten FFS competitors, with Enock Mwepu chosen by Neale and Tom and Stuart Dallas picked by FPL Marc. Impressively, Az backed both.

FINAL STANDINGS

Deputy Editor Tom Freeman led from the very start and never let go, despite early challenges from Sam and Neale.

As a Hall of Famer with an exemplary Fantasy Premier League (FPL) track record, having finished in the top 1k on five occasions and the top 10k on three more, it’s perhaps no surprise that Tom emerged as the victor.

Down at the bottom, FPL Nymfria notched up one successful pick and only came last because of FPL Marc’s late form. Scoreless during a hopeless first seven rounds, he ended on a respectful score of three.

Thanks to everyone for taking part – Fantasy5 will continue to run as normal and is a fun game to be played alongside FPL.

Congratulations to Tom for your prize and bragging rights. Here is his selection for Gameweek 22:

I have a similar team (worse actually, as I have Son too). I am really leaning toward freehit now, for several reasons-

My team looks great for GW23. I dont want to transfer out players like Watkins.

A lot of people seem to be taking -4 and -8 even. So of the bat you are 4 or 8 points better off.

The Salah effect. You are looking at 1-2 transfers to replace him, then 1-2 to get him back. That is a lot! So its probably another -4 down the line to get him back in.

And finally, but most importantly….. It seems that the herd are leaning towards saving the free hit and taking hits instead. There is a massive chance to bet against the crowd here. So if Ronaldo/Kane both bang, Dennis is out and King bangs, Madisson/Moura/Mount etc do well…. Then there is potential for huge rank gains.

Im pretty set on it. Following the crowd is boring. Time to take some risks! I would rather bank say a 20 point gain now, than the chance of one later.

I hope FPL makes the game interesting next season by pricing Salah at 14.0 and Trent somewhere above 8.0.

No one will own him at 14 + he will decline from this freak season

I could see myself having him at 14m in my GW1 squad. If his form isn't like this season from the off, he'd be an easy sell to any other premium.

But Mane ought to be 1.5-2m cheaper to give us something to think about.

My thought are that they should perhaps let Salah stay around 12.5-13 and Trent 8 buy Mane around 10 and Robertson 6.5, that way it opens up for different approaches. Jota will probably hike up to 10 m level. At least 9.

Teams in a mess and using my Wildcard is necessary. What do people think of this draft?

    Sanchez, Ramsdale
    Davies, Trent, Cancelo, Kilman, Lowton
    Maddison, Jota, Raphinha, Bowen, Gray
    Ronaldo, Kane, King (O.3 ITB)

Inclusion of Ronaldo/Kane allows a simple move in a couple of GWs to Maddison & Kane/Ronaldo for Salah and Edouard.

Alternatively could just go Dennis over Kane and just keep the money ITB.

I always assumed it was a functionality thing rather than a choice they made. I don't know anything about computers though, so could be wrong. If rolling the FT beyond the chip is easy to implement, I don't get it either so just believed it wasn't possible for my own peace of mind.

Yeah, it seems they can't carry any data from more than two weeks back hence you lose the 1 ft you saved from 2 weeks back. Or you can't revert back to the squad you had 2 weeks back - which would be the case if you used 2 FHs in a row. Guess it's a free game with millions of users and they can only do so much.

I’ve been thinking about BB this week for a while and the only transfer out i’d have to do to have a good squad was Son

(Depends a bit on TAA news but i’m guessing he should be fine)

Was thinking of replacing him (Son) with Fernandes, but i’m not so sure now since United was dreadful and Fernandes was Meh yesterday

    What are your thoughts?

Any other good Son replacements or can Fernandes still be a decent shout?

They really are, but Greenwoods shot yesterday was so weak, so unlike him, can't understand why all his shots almost dribbled into Martinez hands. Usually he hits them with great power and precision, which challenges the GK. But yeah, he had 2 chances(that I can remember) where he could have squared it to Rashford for a tap in.

I normally go for a 4.5 first choice and the respective backup at 4.0. But with games dropping like flies I think it's prudent to have a playing back up so I've got Sanchez (bought at 4.5)

Every single article, video, report, and I'm reassessing what I might do. BB is obviously out. FH maybe? WC an option. Plenty players I'd like long term who double up this GW.
I had vague notions of who I'd like (Dennis, Tielemans) but if ever there was a GW where the maxim of "don't make early transfers" holds true, its this one.
