Scouting The Doubles

Who is the best Liverpool option alongside Salah and Alexander-Arnold for FPL Double Gameweek 29?

We’ve got yet another Double Gameweek of Fantasy Premier League (FPL) to contend with as we get set for the penultimate round of matches before the March international break.

With there not being a stand-out chip strategy for Gameweek 29 (see the results of our sidebar poll), we’ve eschewed the usual ‘Free Hit/Wildcard’ approach and are instead bringing you a club-by-club guide to the half-dozen teams who have two fixtures.

Unlike the two north London clubs, all four of the other sides involved – including Liverpool – then blank in Gameweek 30, so caution is advised unless you are using a Free Hit in one of the next two Gameweeks.

All stats taken from this article are from our Premium Members Area, where there is still a seven-day free trial.

THE OUTLOOK

Liverpool return to Premier League action in Double Gameweek 29 when they visit Brighton and Hove Albion and Arsenal, as they aim to keep the pressure on table-toppers Manchester City.

That’s followed by a Gameweek 30 blank – which coincides with their FA Cup quarter-final against Nottingham Forest – and the March international break.

In theory, that should keep rotation to a minimum across their next two Premier League matches.

For those looking further ahead, the Reds will also have another Double Gameweek to come between now and the end of the season.

Top scorers throughout the Premier League, their defence has also kept five clean sheets from their last seven outings.

Now, the question for most FPL managers isn’t whether they should buy Liverpool players, it’s who should be their third asset alongside Mohamed Salah (£13.2m) and Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5m).

yes definitely imo. unless you have hardly players i dont think fh is worth it gw30, too limited pool of players to choose from, i doubt you'll gain much on non fh players.

A poor 7, although l could probably get a couple more in with hits. Currently like this:

        White Sanchez
        Son Raph Kulu
        Laca Watkins

    Which option from below?

    A)
    Foden + Dennis -> Kulusevski + Lacazette
    - (-4)
    - Need to play Bowen/Dalot this GW
    - 10 BGW in GW 30

    B)
    James + Foden -> Davies + Son
    - (-4)
    - Need to play Dennis this GW
    - No getting Lacazette or any other Arsenal Forward
    - 10 BGW in GW 30

    C)
    James + Foden + Dennis -> Spurs Def + Kulusevski + Lacazette
    - (-8)
    - No Son, but can get a wingback and also no "deadweight" this GW
    - 11 BGW in GW 30

    Dubravka
    TAA, Dier, Kilman
Salah C, Saka, Kulu, Coutinho, Raph
    Kane, Laca

    Bench: Ramsdale, Rudiger, James, Richardson
    0.0ITB
    1 FT

Plan A) With the current Wolves, Newcastle and Norwich form, planning to play Kilman and Raph, bench Rudiger and James, save FT.

Versus plan B) Upside chasing alternative would be to sell James + Raph for a -4 hit for...VVD/Robbo and Podence/Fraser/Gordon/Ramsey?

    GW30 team, no chip 30:

    Ramsdale
Dier, Kilman, Justin?/blank (plan A has extra FT for 30, plan B could choose to hold Robbo/VVD and blank)
    Saka, Kulu, Coutinho, Raph/Podence
    Kane C, Laca

Broja, Ramsey and Raphinha. 3 who I need to get rid of.

Who first? I feel Broja will be dropped / rested this weekend. Awful the last 3 games.

Based on fixtures you’d think Raphinhia is the one that’s best to keep. If you think Broja might be dropped then perhaps him but Ramsey seems the most distant from getting points at the moment

    2. Karhumies
      • 11 Years

SGW vs Watford (Broja) and vs Norwich (Raph) is like a DGW vs 2 mid-table teams though. If you don't plan to play them on 29, you are probably not planning to ever play them, so selling becomes an option from a Kon-Mari point of view.

At Ramsey's price range, there's not too much competition...Gordon feels bad since he blanks on 30? Upgrade to Saka, Martinelli/Odegaard, Kulusevski would make more sense to gain an extra fixture.

Probably Raphinha although, despite form, he's still not a hard sell for the next 2 weeks. Think I'll be selling Raph for Maddison in 30. The other 2 are still decent bench options

  8. Super John McGinn-

Got wildcard, 2 free hits and bench boost left and most likely using free hit 30. Gone from top 10k to 27k in two weeks

    De Gea
    TAA, Cancelo, Rudiger, Livramento
Salah (C), Son, Foden, Martinelli, Bowen
    Jimenez

    Foster, Dennis, Weghorst, Ait Nori

    1 FT 2.8 ITB

    A) Foden + Jimenez > Gordan + Kane (-4)
    B) Bowen + Jimenez > Saka/Kulu + Laca (-4)
    C) Foden + Bowen + Jimenez > Gordan + Saka/Kulu + Kane (-8)
    D) De Gea + Bowen > Ramsdale + Saka (-4)
    E) Other

    Robbo or Matty Cash?

already have TAA, if I go for the villa defender I will probably upgrade Faser to Mane for a Pool triple up.

also is it mad losing 0.4 value Cancelo on WC? if yes, then might accomodate both Robbo and Matty

    1. Karhumies
      • 11 Years
      2 years, 18 days ago

Value matters less at end of the season. You could go Robbo for DGW on WC with an option to downgrade back to Cancelo somewhere 31+.

      1. Neo-Viper
        • 9 Years
        2 years, 18 days ago

Cheers mate!! feel ceiling is higher with Robbo. I can fit in Robbo and Cancelo both just that Cancelo will have to sit this one out and I will miss out getting Matty on WC.

        What do you think?

        1. Karhumies
          • 11 Years

No chip 30 or FH30? If no chip 30, I would pick a Spurs defender (Doherty highest ceiling, Davies lowest price?) over Cash on the WC with 30 in mind.

Have very similar defence (TAA, Tierney, Ait Nouri, Cancelo, James) & I think I will make that move for -4. Pays off in appearance pts alone over 29-31/2, and since I'm downgrading one of my forward spots to fodder there's a chance I could be fielding 10 if I have Cancelo, James, fodder, Ait Nouri, Broja

Yes yes I am kind of a big deal around here, especially with this team:

    Dubravka - (Meslier)

    White - Robertson - Doherty - (Coast).

    Salah - Mount - July - Saka - (Brownhill).

    Kane - Jiminez - Laca.

I have 2 FT's. I'm going a bit cold on the Son + Jimi to Kulu + Kane move, mainly as Jimi doesn't seem as big an issue now.

I'm likely going to move on Kilman to Doherty with one FT, as that is a problem area. I'm also still looking at bringing in Kulu for one of Raphinha or Coutinho - so it's a real fixture vs form dilemma. Leeds were abysmal last night, Raphinha looked fuming throughout, and it also seems like Harrison/Dallas appear to be getting majority of set pieces now too. Coutinho has looked brilliant last couple but those Villa fixtures aren't great.

Can anyone settle the Raphinha vs Coutinho debate once and for all?

    Ramsdale*
    Trent* Robbo* White*
Salah (TC)* - Son* - Saka* - Raphinha - Coutinho
    Wood* - Broja

    Bench: Dubravka; Jimenez, Digne, Kilman
