Brentford have the longest current Premier League unbeaten run of 12 games and are one of four teams who have a Double Gameweek 27.

In this Scouting the Doubles article, we look at the pick of The Bees players for Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

All stats in this piece come from our Premium Members Area, where you can access Opta player and team data for every single Premier League fixture this season.

FIXTURES

Brentford have two fixtures in Gameweek 27 and 29, as well as a game in Blank Gameweek 28. That means The Bees have five matches in the next three Gameweeks, more than any other side.

Up first is appealing away trips to Everton and Southampton, both of whom are under new management.

FUTURE FIXTURES

After Brentford’s Double Gameweek 27, they play Leicester City at home in Blank Gameweek 28, where they have been particularly strong this season, losing just once to league-leaders Arsenal all the way back in Gameweek 8. The Foxes have conceded 18 goals across their 10 post-World Cup games, so this could be a decent matchup for Ivan Toney (£7.7m).

Double Gameweek 29 sees The Bees visit Brighton and Hove Albion and Manchester United. Two not-so-great fixtures on paper, especially for defenders, but Toney is worth hanging onto, given his staggeringly good record against sides currently inside the Premier League’s top eight this season:

GameweekOpponentGoalsAssistsBonusFPL points
26Fulham (h)1028
23Arsenal (a)1039
17Spurs (h)1005
16Man City (a)20313
11Brighton (h)20312
10Newcastle (a)1005
8Arsenal (h)0002
3Fulham (a)1028
2Man Utd (h)0219

After, Brentford face Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers, before a guaranteed home meeting with Aston Villa in Blank Gameweek 32.

Haaland to Toney for a hit?

Haaland with two games and Toney with five (if not banned). Would bring him back in for Kane GW30 but would lose 0.5 doing so.

    Worth the risk??

Can't see much of the article but after transferring Ederson out last week I have Raya, Mee and Toney. Is this the correct solution?

Kepa is my normal default so it's an exceptional week - because Raya has a good double.

Not sure about correct but probably the most balanced combination.

      Raya-Toney-Mbeumo might score the highest.

I think so. Toney & Raya the 2 clear standout options. Not that much between the defenders but if I do get a 3rd BRE I think it'll be Mee

Just the relative number of goal attempts really. Not much in it & nothing against Pinnock/Mee if budget is tight

Dunno. In fairness I didn't think about it, great question. But I think he's doing great with Arsenal, bringing young players through and dealt with egos like Aubameyang and Ozil, good prep for Real.

Nah, should stick with Arsenal for a year or two.

Performance demand is pretty high at Madrid, will be punching above his weight.

I don't know if he's going, but they definitely want him and lets face it like it is, if ARS wins the PL its going to be close to a miracle they won't repeat for another 30 years. So, cash in the success and move on, become an ARS legend and say thank you.

well yeah you have a point. This year, none of the others are that good so it’s THE year. If all other top 3 teams plus later on Newcastle go in their prime, it would be so hard to repeat.
But I could also say that he could stay and establish something similar to Pep (longevity wise)

Just watched the Liv v Mnu game, wow that scoreline is flattering, four of Liverpool's goal were complete luck/rubbish and how United missed those four or five easy chances is beyond me, Liverpool's defending is still shocking, how have they kept multiple clean sheets in a row? Also won't be bringing Shaw back but Bruno still looks a good asset.

You make your own look. Their defence has potential without Trent, a liability at the back. Need to find a place for him though further up. Their midfield has been poor, dominated on Sunday. It was an outlier result, can't see United being as poor again but three up front clicked for the first time.

United missed their chances and Pool scored those lucky/rubbish ones because they were at it and United weren't.

Mates, I would appreciate advices here

So I have Kepa and Sanchez in my WC team. And 0.2 ITB

This is just enough to change Sanchez to Raya. Another option is to just buy Steele. Any updates about the GK situation in Brighton? Should Steele start both games in the DGw?

    Thanks

There is no certainty on Brighton keepers. Manager stated he likes them both and seems like either could play, although at the margin I'd guess Steel would get a run. Not worth the risk - just get Raya

As a pool fan I think I got more enjoyment out of beating united 7-0 than wining the league cup, possibly even the FA cup. a once in a life time event that your greatest rivals will never live down . one of klopp's greatest gifts to the club will be the frequent humiliations (one of which got jose sacked) his teams dished out to united , both home and away. bragging rights forever. thank you jurgen.....

WOW... really? You would rather beat Man United 7-0 than rather winning the league cup and possibly even the FA cup? I find that quite amusing. You end by saying bragging rights forever? When United beat Arsenal 8-2 at OT, who really talks about that? Yes the Arsenal rivalry isn't/wasn't as big as the United/Liverpool one, but I'd take a trophy every time over a record loss to our rivals.

      1. boc610
        • 13 Years

yes really...so next season you'd take a league cup win or fa cup and ANOTHER 7-0 loss at anfield??? cmon... Ive spoken to a lot of pool supporters and they have said the exact same thing. more pleasure derived from this than winning one of the smaller domestic cups. the rivalry dwarfs anything else in british football, with maybe the exception of the old firm.

I'm not talking about next season, I'm talking about what you said. If let's say Liverpools only achievement this season ends up being beating United 7-0 and you don't get top 4 and United get top 4 and the league cup I'd take that every time!!! As for referring to the cups as mickey mouse cups. That term has been used for the league cup, I've never heard someone use it for he FA Cup, but each to their own.

          1. boc610
            • 13 Years
            2 years, 9 months ago

its not just the 7-0 though, its about one club and one manager having their biggest rivals number on a regular basis. the 7-0 just sets it in stone (thats 17 goals scored to uniteds 2 in the last four games )and yes I get why united would prefer it as its been a while since a cup win and no champions league this season so obviously you'd take the cup and CL qualification. and if liverpool hadnt has so much success under klopp then maybe we'd rather get beat 7-0 at old trafford and win a league cup

...LOL who am I kidding, rather lose 7 nil loss to united for a league cup?? no chance!!!!!!!!!

I didn't realise the 2 fixtures were a 2 legged cup rounds. Funny isn't how all of sudden Liverpool fans are looking at that way. When United were dominating under SAF, I never once heard United fans use that analogy, but whatever makes you guys sleep easier at night 🙂

Lol. No one will care next week. Taking a grubbing happens to everyone now and then, but the whole point is winning trophies. Sounds like a Pool fan who is scrapping around in the mud for something from a miserable season for their club. Not a Man U fan by the way … but big picture here.

Oh yes, I can see it now, if at the end of the season they’ve won a couple of trophies and finished above you in the league and you retort with ‘yeah, but we beat you 7-0’ … the silence would only be broken by the aqueous humour shifting as they roll their eyes and the scratching of the tumble weeds as they bounce by.

On WC. Would you take out Haaland (prob for Watkins) now before he starts dropping price, or wait til next week?

I don't think 0.1m is all that important at this stage of the season so I would just ignore price changes. Also if you got him at 11.5, one drop won't affect your selling price

Good point. The other advantage of taking him out now is it avoids needing to use a ft next week, though I also see it's risky going without him (or any Man City).

I'm actually going to sell him this week (for Toney) so I don't mind that on the basis of extra fixtures for others short-term

Chips aside (WC,BB,FH remaining), would you shoehorn MacAllister/March(-4) into this?

    Salah - Rashford - Saka - Ødegaard - Mitoma

    Haaland - Kane - Toney

Up to 4k overall rank now. Still have wildcard left.

I have 2 Fts and it is worth doing the following for a -4.

TAA Bueno and Andreas to Estupinian, Badashille and Mitoma/Macallister for a -4?

    Gives me this for Gw27:

    Ederson,
    Estupinian, Trippier, White
    Salah, Macallister/Mitoma, Saka, Odegaard, Rashford
    Toney, Haaland,

    Ward, Watkins, Mings, Badashille,

Then gives me 9 for GW8. I can then look at maybe Salah to Maddison

    Cheers all

Ok, well then it just depends who you think scores the most between March's 4 fixtures & Haaland's 2? I think its a decent opportunity, especially on WC, to take the risk of going without him for 3 weeks.

Bit of a (nice) benching headache this week. Keep rotating between two from Davies, Shaw, Trippier, & Gabriel. Currently on the two with the higher points potential. Thoughts?

    Raya*
    Trippier. Shaw. Estupiñán*.
    Rashford. Saka. March*. Mitoma*.
    Toney*. Darwin. Kane.

    (Navas. Martinelli. Davies. Gabriel.)

Thanks! Yah that's exactly where I'm at. More likely TOT CS vs Shaw/Trippier upsides. The change in SOU xGC in the article above is quite stark, too (albeit small sample). I can't tell if the Liverpool mauling will galvanise or crush United.

It’s a complete lottery, with last week’s performances from West Ham and Bournemouth not helping the decision, nor White’s start on the bench (although you would expect him to play this week).

To do Mitrovic to Toney, I need to do either:
    1) Bruno to Gakpo (I think United will bounce back but Liverpool play Bournemouth);
    2) Pope to Steele (double this week and 29 for Steele but Pope playing Wolves and Nottingham Forest in the next two and then a double)
    3) Shaw to a 4.4m defender - maybe Pinnock

    Alternatively:
    4) Mitrovic to Mbeuno and upgrade Bueno or Tark

I currently have 8 for GW28 and 8 doublers for GW29. Any help would be much appreciated!

Plantar fasciitis can vary pretty wildly in seriousness and how much it debilitates you - Bamford's experience seems to be right at the upper scale so would need more info if that is what Foden has. Probably just a bit of discomfort.

    Slight dilemma over Brighton assets:

    A) Ward & Andreas > Steele & Mitoma (bench Kepa)

    B) Tark & Andreas > Estupinan & March (can’t afford Mitoma; bench Maddison / Odegaard)
