Our Members article series, reviving an old Scout strand called Tales of the Expected, explores the expected goals (xG) data from the last six matches, assessing each side from an attacking and defensive perspective.

In addition, we’ll also check out the form players on show.

Having last looked at these tables after Gameweek 25, it’s time to revisit them again, armed with the latest stats from our Members Area.

Only Premium Members are able to read these pieces, so sign up today to get full access not just to the editorial content but all of the other benefits, from hundreds of Opta stats to a transfer planner.

We’ve currently got a seven-day free trial running, too, so you can try before you buy.

XG: LAST SIX MATCHES

Brighton and Hove Albion continue to put up excellent underlying numbers and have been unlucky not to have scored more of late. In the last six matches, they have found the net 10 times but still underachieved their xG by a whopping 4.95, more than any other top-flight side. If they continue to perform in the same manner, the goals should continue to flow.

On Saturday, Leicester City were unfortunate to come away empty-handed against Chelsea after creating 2.52 xG. James Maddison (£8.1m) racked up five shots and three created chances without converting any of them into FPL points, but their attacking process has generally been good of late despite some difficult fixtures, offering encouragement to his owners.

Sean Dyche has now led Everton to three 1-0 home wins in the Premier League since replacing Frank Lampard, and since his arrival on 30 January only five clubs have won more Premier League points – Manchester City, Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United. The Toffees are coaxing more out of Dwight McNeil (£5.1m) and his link-up with Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£7.9m) could be one to watch once the latter returns from injury.

Nottingham Forest’s attacking woes could be good news for Kieran Trippier (£6.0m) and co on Friday. They have created just 4.79 xG in the last six matches, which includes the penalty at Spurs which accounts for 0.78. They could be without their most influential and important player in Gameweek 28, too, with Brennan Johnson (£5.7m) carrying a groin injury.

However, Crystal Palace have shown even less in attack. They have failed to register a single shot on target in three consecutive Premier League games, the first team to do so since Opta started collecting data, with a trip to Brighton up next tomorrow.

WC in GW28 - depends how many starting 11 players you have available for GW28

GW29 BB chip available I would play

I have 9 for GW28 (10 if Bueno somehow recovers) and 8 doubling for GW29 (but two are keepers - Steele and Pope). I will have two FTs for then too so could bring in two more, or three with a hit.

It really depends on what else you’d change. In isolation you wouldn’t sell a wildcard for 8 points. I doubt you'd just be making those changes though. Make your wildcard team in a gameweek planner look at this differences and see if you think you really need to do it. I’d guess not.

There can’t be too many FPL players that have scored 5 times in a single match but have then suffered the indignity of a price drop the very same night.

But then Erling Haaland is a very special player indeed.

Single gameweek players often tend to outscore doublers but people like that what if factor I think… its hard to believe people are still selling him after he scores 5 as if he’s just doing daily fitness in a CL knockout match, misses 2-3 on top and people are selling him for someone… who didn’t do that! Lol

Chasing 100 point deficit in my mini-league and already Free Hitting GW 28. Need to gamble in a few different ways, but the one I'm focusing in on right now is...which team is most likely to keep a clean sheet in GW 28? Arsenal & Chelsea look like the clear favorites, with Newcastle just behind them. My opponent already has double Newcastle defense and Zinchenko from Arsenal, so I'm leaning towards a triple up of Chelsea or Arsenal defense. Thoughts?!

Chelsea 3/4 (43%) and Arsenal 4/6 (40%) to keep CSs according to William Hill so couldn't be much closer.

Overall I'd say Chilwell is becoming a must so I'd go Chelsea, though who to go for for the other two spots is more difficult with Chelsea than Arsenal by far.

You must gamble to catch up in your mini league with 100 points deficit.
FH in GW28 helps but as you know can backfire horrendously.
I would go all in. Triple Chelsea Defense and Triple Arsenal Midfield with few extra punts such as Son, Maddison and don't forget steady Eddie Kane.

I think the trio of Saka, Ødegaard & Martinelli will all score similar points at the end of the season so is Saka’s pen duty advantage really worth the £1.6-2.0 over the other two?

I am not so sure to be honest because there haven’t been so much difference in points & now considering losing Saka maybe after the dgw, what do you guys think?

    1. Philosopher's Stones
      • 5 Years
      2 years, 11 months ago

Martinelli's minutes will be under threat once Jesus is back and Trossard starts the occasional game on the left. You won't have that issue with Saka, as Saka is a guaranteed starter every game till the end of the season if fit.

      1. PartyTime
        • 4 Years
        2 years, 11 months ago

Yeah this is a factor to consider. Saka more nailed. Martinelli is usually the scapegoat but they also have Nelson & ESR who could both replace the other two if needed.

Saka has played the most minutes & even on pens but yet the pts difference between them isn’t much & I think it will continue this way.

    2. Holmes
      • 12 Years

It might work but you know there will be weeks you will miss his hauls. I think he just needs a rest for a game or two to reignite, should be possible now that players are returning from injury.

Worth a shot I guess but there really arent many options in midfield and cash is certainly not an issue at the moment.

Yes but still the points are shared in that Arsenal team. I’m in no hurry to sell yet, just monitoring how they have been scoring same pts. When I need that extra £, Saka will be gone.
