We at Fantasy Football Scout are always looking for ways to grow our talented team of contributors and writers.

With the end of the season not too far away (it’s nearer to Gameweek 38 than Christmas!), we’re looking to refresh our team ahead of 2023/24.

Our latest opening has us on the hunt for some FPL Video Support/YouTube Specialist expertise, either via two part-time names or one full-timer.

To apply, email jobs@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk with your cover letter and CV, explaining either your success and experience in driving video growth or your suitability to be fronting FFScout video.

The details are as follows:

FPL VIDEO SUPPORT/YOUTUBE SPECIALIST

  • Contract type: Full-Time/Part-Time
  • Reports to: CEO
  • Location: Work from home

Overview

Fantasy Football Scout’s Content Team is looking for a new high-performing member to support video and podcast growth. We will fit the role around the talent available, to some degree.

There are two part-time roles we are looking to fill, or possibly one full-time role if the perfect candidate comes forward.

Fantasy Football Scout is a small, entrepreneurial company; as such, this role has scope to expand in various directions, and the successful candidate will be expected to help guide strategy along with other team members.

The role

The first goal is to bring in someone who can present and host video for us, organize others to push our video content forward, develop content plans and strategy, and be flexible/available to make reactionary content when necessary. This must be someone with Fantasy Premier League (FPL) experience, ideally proven success on YouTube in FPL.

This skillset must be a charismatic presenter of content who can develop our YouTube channel, and must be able to authentically connect with others quickly.

The second goal we have is to bring in a YouTube/Video/Podcast expert who can help drive our non-editorial content strategy. This requires someone with experience growing YouTube/Video/Podcast/Social channels and who understands the algorithms behind various sites, specifically YouTube.

This person need not have FPL experience but must be able to drive our growth goals forward and work closely with the content creators.

    maybe its me as an ignorant american, but you're telling me a guy scores a goal and its not countedin the fantasy game? please explain how that works. i get maybe after the week is over, but its literally the same week. add a goal to his score today

    1. The Bandit

      Pretty straightforward really.

      As per our Rules, points awarded in-game are subject to change up until one hour after the final whistle of the last match of any given day. Once the points have all been updated on that day, no further adjustments will be made.

      Stupid rule, but there it is.

        the rule should be by the end of the gw. yeah i get it, rules are rules, but that might be the dumbest rule I've ever heard. literally makes no sense

        1. The Bandit
          • 15 Years
          2 years, 9 months ago

          That could also cause problems though. Say the deadline was after the last game of the gw and they gave the goal to March - what if the same thing happened tonight and the goal was awarded to the player in three days time?

          1. Mr. O'Connell
            • 13 Years
            2 years, 9 months ago

            This is why it's such a good rule. Completely fair across the board with no bias towards earlier games.

              I know it's an unlikely scenario, but the outrage over March's goal would be nothing compared with the owners of the last game player, if March got it and the other guy didn't.

            How is that a problem?

            What if Meslier obscures the camera angle for March's goal while the GK in another match does not obscure the camera angle for another goal that would've been contentious otherwise?

            The point here is that the most fair thing is that March gets his goal. In this scenario we happen to be in a situation where we know it's his goal while autosubs are yet to be done. They can likely change it, and should rather answer whether they can, rather than focusing on the rules. They didn't care about the rules when the queen died and WC/FH got extended by a week. It's about the health of the game.

              There would be huge outrage if March owners got his goal, but the owners of tonight's player didn't.

                There was an outrage when March didn't get his goal, just like there still will be an outrage when the next player gets awarded a goal by the dubious goal panel.

                Your perception of fairness is simply wrong. March deserves his goal. His owners deserves the goal. Autosubs are the only limitation to when you can fix this issue.

                It's not fair that March doesn't get points on FPL because Meslier happened to obscure the camera angle. That's the stupid part where FPL have failed completely.

                  Perception of fairness? None of my comments are about what is fair or not, I'm just stating facts. I'm an owner and would have loved his points to be awarded, but it ain't happening.

            award the points, period end of conversation. this is 2023, you're telling me the technology doesn't exist to make stat corrections in fantasy sports? american fantasy sports, stats correction are always made, 100% of the time and it doesnt matter when. Granted we use very different formats, but the technology is the same. this is a stat based game. a player scores a goal and its literally not counted? that makes absolutely no sense unless there is a technological limitation preventing it from being counted. but there isnt, its just laziness

          Couldn't agree more. It's not even an argument or fair rule even if the goal were concluded at the end of the season before last 38 GW update. Doesn't matter how much time has passed.

      Similar situation has happened before. Kane got his goal later and it wasn't added. There has to be deadline for these. VAR and refs both make "sometimes" mistakes and they aren't corrected ever.

      1. footballcandy
        • 9 Years

        What is actual argument for keeping a deadline bar that the actual deadline is really at the end of the season when the game is finalized?

            2 years, 9 months ago

            That actually IS a valid argument. It would be impossible to backtrack. With that said; FPL have forced themselves into a non optimal logic of rules to be able to "spice up" the concept with additional competitions inside the main game. The main game suffers because of it, in principal. And those who are in it for the main game only, suffers.

            1. footballcandy
              • 9 Years
              2 years, 9 months ago

              On the other hand; they could for future seasons extend the deadline at least until the last update within the same gameweek. To make it more fair.

              I actually don't see the problem (also with cups/H2H in mind) if the actual deadline is within the transfer deadline next GW.

              Most corner case scenarios should be solved by then. One hour is plain BS.

                I could have, but your statement still doesn't hold any water. The rules state you get 1 free hit per year, then they changed it mid season. The rules state points lock an hour after the game ends (which makes no sense), but they cant change that?

                And furthermore, what really changes by changing the time limit to correct stats, you get the correct score? Adding an additional free hit mid season changes the entire season long strategy, and somehow that makes sense in their eyes.....But actually awarding the correct points doesnt?

            Is it lazy to join a game where the point is to predict who scores a goal - and when he scores - it doesn't get registered due to "technical reasons" or "imaginary deadlines"?

            The DEADLINE is indeed when the season is over for any return/stats/rule/postponed matces/discilplinary bans or what ever.

            What happens in FPL in this scenario: The game starts, everyone gets a point, the game needs to be stopped and played later due to heavy snow in ex.? Will the start points be removed, the game whiped of the FPL board or what?

      I would think (and hope) during the March international break - the FA Cup quarter-finals would have been played by then so we'll finally know who blanks in GW32 and which Premier League fixtures need rescheduling beyond it. Some more TV date announcements for May are due to be announced over the coming fortnight, too, so any DGW news might be tagged onto those.

              31 will likely become a DGW with Newcastle added, 32 a blank so City would form one fixture of a later DGW. But you don't have to start him every week? Could rotate in/out just for DGWs in 31, 34, 37, plus the 3 juicy SGW fixtures 33-5?

      Doesn't look like he's going to be given nearly as much of an attacking outlet under Potter, I think he's a hard pass this season unfortunately.

          yeah generally feel like Chilwell gets a lot of space with Felix or Mudryk cutting inside leaving gaps, whereas James is not doing the marauding wingback job of last year. James' fitness also appears to be a huge huge problem (not saying chilwells is great either), so I think doubling up is insanely risky lol

            Havertz will be in front of him, on the right of the front 3, and he doesn't hold width, he drifts all over. Plus Fofana at RCB has the pace for them to push up a lot more, so I don't see any reason why James won't spend most of the next 3 games in his opponents' half

    Hi guys,

    Without showing what the team looks like for this BGW, this is my overall squad.

    Kepa
    Shaw - White - Trippier
    Rashford - Saka - Salah - Odegaard
    Toney - Darwin - Haaland
    ______________________________
    Raya: Mitoma: Schar: Tarkowski

    My plan this GW is to do Halaand > Kane (c) to make it 9 players

    So how does this plan sound over the coming weeks?

    Haaland > Kane this GW

    Then before GW 30:

    Salah + Darwin > Haaland + Bruno?

    Cheers guys.

    Kepa Raya
    Trippier Gabriel Mee (Estupinan Shaw)
    Ode Saka (Mitoma Rash March)
    Toney Kane (Haaland)

    2FT, 1ITB

    Would you FH or just use the free transfers? Cheers

          -Haaland to watkins/havertz (back on gw30 for toney)
          - shaw/ estupinan to chilwell
          - march to Maddison.

          Too many options, you can also play with only 9 players.

    So I think I'm fairly set on Haaland -> Watkins with one of my FTs this week - best move with the other one?

    A) Save it
    B) Estupinan -> Chilwell
    C) March -> Maddison

    Kepa
    Trippier, James, Zinchenko, Mee
    Saka, Martinelli
    Kane, Toney

    Raya, Estupinan, March, Mitoma, Rashford, Haaland
    Bank 4.0m, 2FTs, BB/FH left

    1. Gooner97

      I am not certain whether Mee is worth keeping, personally considering Chilly (-4), but you do have Reece.

        Yeah I was just looked at Mee -> Chilwell also. Problem is that all transfer options mean I can't afford both of the following, whereas if saving the FT (or Mee -> Schar) this week I can afford it:

        GW29: Martinelli -> Bruno
        GW30: Toney -> Haaland

    3. Camzy
      • Fantasy Football Scout Member

      I'm just doing Haaland > Watkins and rolling the other.

        What to do for 29 though? The only non-DGWers are the ARS trio and Kane. Martinelli/Saka -> Bruno I guess for one of them.

        Feels like I could be getting an extra 28 starter and better 29 DGWer if using the extra FT now.

        1. Camzy
          • Fantasy Football Scout Member
          • 15 Years
          2 years, 9 months ago

          Not really.

          Triple Brighton and Rashford are the most valuable GW29 assets to have. You also want 2 FTs ahead of GW29 because of the international break.

          1. Jinswick
            • Fantasy Football Scout Member
            • 15 Years
            2 years, 9 months ago

            This is true. Another option could be to do Kane (instead of Toney) -> Haaland in 30. The cash saved there could mean I can afford something like:

            28: Mee, March & Haaland -> Chilwell, Maddy & Watkins (-4)
            29: Martinelli -> Bruno
            30: Kane -> Haaland

            28 = 11 starters
            29 = 12 decent DGWers
            30: Haaland back

      Good to roll a FT before 29 given international games so 2 FTs will be useful.

      Obviously the fear is Chilwell goes crazy and gets 20+ points given how popular he is this week and all the content creators pushing as an essential, but you already have James so are part covered already.

    Still very much on the fence about the Haaland -> Watkins, Toney -> Haaland move.

    Sanchez to Raya last week left me with one fewer FT than I expected.

    Feels like if I go down that path I'm taking multiple hits to take advantage of the extra funds it affords me next week, and also to get him back in straight away in 30. Hmmm.

    1. gart888
      • 11 Years
      2 years, 9 months ago

      That Watkins rise last night means that I'm 0.2 shy of:

      Haaland -> Watkins
      Saka -> Bruno (29)
      Zinchenko -> Shaw (29)
      Toney -> Haaland (30)

      Being 0.1 shy of it I'd take my chances that one of Bruno, Shaw, or Haaland would drop in price to facilitate it. 0.2 shy seems super risky and probably means another hit. 🙁

          Yeah, this is probably the solution. Would then leave me 9.5 to go from Maddison to a midfielder in 31. Which again, makes me annoyed that Watkins rose last night and I won't be able to get Bruno in at that point either lol.

        I'm in the same boat. I'm trying to justify that any amount of hits is OK as long as you remove a blanker/singler 28/29 and replace with a game/doubler in 28/29.

        Let's say Haaland stays quiet vs. Liverpool. What is the argument against the above mind set?

        1. gart888
          • 11 Years
          2 years, 9 months ago

          The argument against the move would be that Haaland in 1 fixture (even against liverpool) is roughly as dangerous as Watkins in two.

          I agree with the general idea that hits are ok if they gain you fixtures, but I think they ALSO should be moves you like medium term.

              Yup. This week there's no doubt Watkins is better than Haaland. Next week they're about even though is my point.

    Best move or any other ideas?

    C. Just leave it.

      Kane will have 150%+ EO
      Saka will be less due to the blank and spread of points across Arsenal assets
      Chilwell probably the most sensible differential option (highly likely CS + an assist + 2/3bps = 11/12 points)

    I know Watkins is the favourite but how about Havertz and Iheanacho?

    Watkins has the form, but in 29 he has the worst fixtures from the 3 of them.
    Thoughts?
