The Double Gameweek 36 analysis continues with a look at the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from Leicester City v Liverpool.

All the numbers you see in this article are taken from our Premium Members Area, where you can access Opta player and team data from every single Premier League fixture after full-time in each game.

A comfortable 3-0 victory for Liverpool intensifies their relentless hunt for a top-four finish but leaves feeble Leicester in 19th place with just two games to go. Curtis Jones’ (£4.9m) quickfire first-half double was sealed later on by a magical Trent Alexander-Arnold (£7.7m) free-kick, as the Foxes only mustered four shots all night.

TRENT STUNNER CONTINUES STREAK

The newly-inverted right-back has FPL returns in eight successive matches, doing so in two ways here. After a spirited Leicester began with good intentions, the clean sheet soon became obvious and Alexander-Arnold took himself up to 13 points by curling a brilliant set-piece into the top right corner.

It’s Liverpool’s third consecutive shut-out and they suddenly look likely to land a Champions League spot over one of Newcastle United or Manchester United. All they need to do is beat Aston Villa (h) and already-relegated Southampton (a), whilst hoping for a slip-up from above.

ABOVE: Total defensive returns since Gameweek 30

Alexander-Arnold has six assists since moving centrally in Gameweek 30 whilst no other defender exceeds three.

HAT-TRICK OF ASSISTS FOR SALAH

Yet his 54 points during this period are still less than team-mate Mohamed Salah’s (£13.1m) 68, as the Egyptian king bagged his third successive double-digit haul by setting up a trio of goals.

They were his first assists since the 7-0 demolition of Man United in Gameweek 26 but, by missing a big chance when put through one-on-one in the 79th minute, it denied Salah of any bonus points.

He has the most penalty area touches and expected goals (xG) since Gameweek 30, with 12 goals and six assists in his last 15 starts – alongside two missed penalties!

ABOVE: Mohamed Salah is far ahead for penalty area touches since Gameweek 30

Only 2.86% of the top 100k put their captain’s armband on Salah but perhaps this red-hot form could tempt a bigger proportion in Double Gameweek 37, even though Liverpool only play once.

BITS AND PIECES

Elsewhere, Diogo Jota (£8.7m) was restricted to a cameo appearance for the third time in four matches, as fellow forward Darwin Nunez (£8.6m) missed out completely due to a minor toe injury.

“Yesterday we trained and he looked OK and then after training he said he feels something in his foot, in his big toe. No, I don’t think [it will end his season], the session didn’t look like that but after the session he felt it more than before and so we have to assess that in more detail.” – Jurgen Klopp on Darwin Nunez

Those thinking of punting on an attacking Leicester asset for their final match versus West Ham United may be concerned at their lack of attacking ideas here. They were simply woeful and seem to be lacking the late momentum of Nottingham Forest and Everton. The Foxes are two points off survival and have a better goal difference but are without a clean sheet in a staggering 21 outings.

Their tricky trip to Newcastle might now be deemed a must-win for the 2015/16 champions.

GAMEWEEK 36 LINE-UPS

Leicester City XI: Iversen; Ricardo (Thomas 67′), Faes, Evans (Souttar 89′), Castagne; Soumare, Ndidi (Tete 61′), Tielemans; Maddison, Vardy, Barnes (Daka 61′)

Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konate, van Dijk, Robertson; Henderson (Milner 74′), Fabinho, Jones (Carvalho 84′); Salah (Elliott 88′), Gakpo, Luis Diaz (Jota 74′)

Not sure what to do with the below?

If I wanted Bruno it would mean Solanke > Greenwood and Rash > Bruno

    Raya

    Estupinan / TAA / Trippier / Schar

    Odegaard / Mahrez / Salah / Mitoma

    Haaland / Isak

    Kepa | Rashford | Solanke | Zinc

If it's for free, then it looks good. I'm a Kepa/Raya owner and DDG is someone I'm eyeing up as well - probably not worth a hit but an option if Rashford fit?

I think the problem you've got is that Rashford to Bruno will be a popular hit if the former's out so may not give you the chasing differential you crave. The other problem is it's Sterling which will certainly be differential. But whether it's any more than 4 points is debatable

I think it looks ok, if Rashford fit play ahead of Solanke. If not, could consider ditching Rashford and playing whoever you get in ahead of Solanke. Problem is who - can't really stretch to another City mid so maybe Mitoma. Unless you fancy downgrading Solanke to Greenwood for a hit but not sure that'll be enough for Bruno and although you'll get a City mid, which ones play is a minefield

    Anyone with Rashford updates?

Chasing my main mini league (about 25 points behind) - Got Triple Captain left, Rival has no chips. Will TC either Haaland or Bruno

Downgrade Robbo to 4.2m defender and upgrade Joelinton to Bruno will give me below (unless Rashford is out in which case I may do Bruno to Rashford and downgrade elsewhere)

    Ederson

    TAA Estu AWB

    Salah Joelinton(Bruno) Rashford Mitoma

    Isak Haaland Alvarez

First on bench Trippier - leaving me with TAA Salah and Isak as non doublers. Wanna try make up 15/20 points in 37 with dgwk and then smash it in 38 with a magic differential. WE CAN DREAM.

My gameplan is ready, based on Rashford remaining unfit.

    Rashford + Jota —> Fernandes + Alvarez (-4)

    De Gea
    Estupinan - TAA - Trippier - Schär
    Mitoma - Salah - Eze
    Haaland - Jota - Isak

    B- Martial

I have two issues with Alvarez. 1 I don't think he's really showing anything recently when he's had his chances - risk that when the games become dead rubbers someone else gets their chance instead of him? 2 I don't think City will rotate as much as people expect - they can't just sit on the beach with a cup final (or more) to come.

I think Martial plays more minutes so I'd be minded to say B

    2. Gegenpress
      • 9 Years

      Alvarez imo

He can basically come in for any one of the City front 4. KDB / Grealish will both miss at least one of the DGW matches Alvarez probably comes in for KDB in one and not sure if he'll start the other or not as Foden / Mahrez probably come in on the wings.. I think their city line up will tell us a lot depending on who starts on the right wing if Mahrez plays from the off or not

Thanks, not chasing so won't bother with that move.

My main concern this week is Bruno, but can't get to him so will have to hope he continues to look good and get minimal points.

Will be tough - BUT never say never United and Newcastle showing slippy g signs.

Newcastle have 2 tough games coming up Brighton who just pushed Arsenal aside like a joke and Leicester who NEED to win.

I don't see Liverpool dropping points as well. United too have an easy run in and shouldn't drop points but if we dod finish top 4 I see it being of Newcastle rather then United.

Chilwell seems a complete waste of a place. Not much in the way of replacements but maybe a second Liverpool defender ahead of Southampton next week?

Rashford or Grealish if it looks like they’re not playing- loads of options- Mahrez or Antony for me

I'd have to think about it but players like Eze, Gundogan and Isak are all strong picks.

If you're confident about your 3 main defenders you could have Toti and spend it further forward.

If Man United's leading scorer is out I think it's fairly obvious how it affects their main playmaker.

Don't think Bruno's role changes as plenty of direct replacements, no need to change the system

No TAA and Wilson has killed me this week, lost a 30 point lead in my ML. Early thoughts for next week? 1FT 2.8 ITB:

    Raya
    Trippier, Estup, Shaw
    Grealish, Mitoma, Mac, Rash, Salah
    Haaland, Isak

    (Iversen, Watkins, Schar, Chilwell)

    A) Rash - Bruno (if Rashford out)
    B) Raya - DDG
    C) Chilwell - City def
    D) Watkins - Alvarez
    E) Combo of the above -4

    Hey guys here's my team:

    Ederson/ Iversen

    Shaw Trippier TAA/ Henry White

Willock Fernandes Salah Mitoma Mac Allister

    Isak Haaland/ Greenwood

    (2.4 itb 2ft)

What moves from the below looks the best?

    1. Willock to Rashford and Salah to KDB/Mahrez for free (if Rashford is back)

    2. Willock to Mahrez and Trippier to Estupian for free (if Rashford is out still)

    3. Willock to a 4.5, Henry to Estupian and Salah to KDB/Mahrez for -4 and play 442 (if Rashford is out)

    4. Isak and Willock to Alvarez and Rashford (if Rashford is back)

    5. Other

Also who to stick the Triple captain on?

    A. Haaland
    B. Fernandes
    C. Rashford (if back)

    thanks guys!!!!

On last question, it’s got to be Haaland (unless injured). Got a title to win (unless Arsenal fail earlier), final home match against a hapless Chelsea and he’s after records with loads of rest before cup matches

2 for the first question. Not keen on losing Salah with City due to win the title in the first match and I’m not convinced by Alvarez in the KDB position

Agree with this. Must admit not seen anything that makes me want to bring in Alvarez
