Is Watkins a keep or sell for people ? Tipping along but no pens and Jackson/Alvarez appealing.

Jackson still an unknown quantity but his fixtures are perfect. Having a front three of Braut, Alvarez and Jackson could be gold over the next two weeks.

If I do get Alvarez in, won't hold him longer for two weeks as City are going to sign more than one attacking asset before the window shuts.

Keeping for now - my whole reason for buying Watkins was he's a set and forget who's always fit. My only concern will be if he regularly gets hooked early, as I think a lot of his points came late in games previously.

I got rid for Wissa. Gives me a front 3 of Halaand, Alvarez and Wissa. Started season with Halaand and Alvarez.

2FTs and can’t see a move worth making really.
    Baldock to Gusto?

    What would you do?

    Onana
    Saliba, Estupinan, Chilwell
    Saka, Fernandes, Rashford, Mitoma, Martinelli
    Haaland, Jackson

    Turner, Pedro, Udogie, Baldock

Gw4 United have Arsenal so if you really have nothing pressing you would like to do you could swap Turner for Areola who has Luton in gw4

2FT's incoming this week (.5m ITB):

    Johnstone
    Estupiñan Chilwell Cash
    Eze Saka Rashford Salah
    Jackson Haaland João Pedro

    Turner Garnacho Baldock Kaboré

What 2 moves would you make here?

Drop Garnacho, Sarr maybe? Frees another .5, you could then get Alvarez/Wissa for Pedro

I mean if you hook Salah then you can upgrade Pedro to whoever you want, but his fixtures look tempting after newcastle. Don't think cash is a great starting defender when you have bench fodder, so you could upgrade him, but I suppose Pedro to wissa or Alvarez is a solid option if you downgrade garnacho

Think there will be a lot of shocked people on Friday night if Chilwell gets dropped. He's a great fantasy asset but Chelsea fans seem unanimous in wanting him out for Mudryk and it appears Poch doesn't trust him in a back four.

Can't see him getting dropped as he's captain at the moment, he was also excellent against Liverpool. No way they don't win on Friday.

It's the perfect game for them to start Mudryk at wing back. We'll see. Just don't search 'Chilwell' on Twitter cos all you'll see is hate from Chelsea fans.

That's because they're clueless, he's been one of their best players in the first two games yet they've convinced themselves that a guy that has made 9 senior appearances should've been starting over him.

I mean to be fair he was subbed with over 30 mins to go while Chelsea were chasing the game, it's not definitive by any means but it doesn't look great if Poch thought that was a solution to Chelsea's attacking issues

I watched Murdryk very closely yesterday. Take pace out of it, and there is very little end product. Some of these players that have commanded massive transfers are hugely over rated. He is one of them.

Ridiculous overreaction. Chilwell is a key player for them & was used in a back 4 all preseason. And the logic of "doesn't trust him a back 4" therefore play Mudryk at WB is hilarious

    1. Arteta

It may just be Caicedo. Some believe he's a mixture of Makelele and Kante in one; I don't. Don't get me wrong, he's a good player, but it's way too soon to compare him with the best defensive midfielders who have been playing at a high level for ages. £115 million isn't his fault but is a result of his former and current clubs's transfer policies, but the price tag could haunt him for some time if he doesn't live up to the expectations. I really wonder how he will deal with the extra pressure.

Is it worth keeping Salah and having quite a few 4.0 / 4.5 useless players in the squad?

I'm really torn on this, Salah to any worthy midfielder is leaving me 5m itb so it's tempting, but Salah is one of the few players who is essentially fixture proof and has haul potential. I'm personally going to hang on to him for Newcastle and if he's useless or dropped from penalties then I'll move him along, but his fixtures turn positive again.

Have to say I think he's a hold if you, like me, already have him

One thing I am noticing is crazy benching headaches when having no Salah or shipping him out. Sure "he costs too much' in FPL but actual match day is what counts.

Slow start for him but chances are that he will be the highest scoring FPL midfielder again this season.

I think quite a few people that have no Salah have money in the bank so can more easily move to, say, Trippier once Newcastle's fixtures turn.

That was exactly my plan. I am just going to ignore price and hokey/cokey players in/out based on fixtures.
Unless Maddison is confirmed out I am going to get Foden in for Salah.
        Gw 6/7 either Schar/Botman/Trippier in.

This is why I'm leaning towards keeping him, can still have pretty much everyone else I want and don't know what to do with the money otherwise. He's not been great but still has 2 returns and can haul in any match.

Cheaper so gives me enough to upgarde to Trippier once Newcastle's fixtures turn. He has good fixtures coming up, Watkins is off pens.

Given how leaky Liverpool are looking (their defence looks atrocious) they have an ideal run up until GW15 with the exception of Brighton. I've no intensions of losing Watkins any time soon.

The logic of "off pens" could also be applied to Jackson, no?

          1. The Biscuitmen
            • 3 Years

It can but for £1m less it's less of a concern, Villa's attack can be covered by others. Watkins is certainly not a bad pick, I suppose it's more is he worth £8m. Fair to say it's a risky one though so thanks all for picking up on it.

I think you're eye test is right. He is a busy looking player that makes lots of runs and is a handful for defenders. But look at shots on target or attempts on goal, his busyness isn't reflected in that stat.

    Won't make any transfers until after this evening's game but no idea what to do here... 2FTs & 0.5M ITB;

    Onana
    Chilwell, Estupinan, Gabriel(?)
Rashford (?), Saka, Martinelli, Diaz, Richarlison
    Haaland (c), Watkins

    Areola, Mubama, Burn, Kabore(?)

    A) Gabriel (if he doesn't start), Rashford & Mubama > Walker, Mbeumo, Alvarez (-4)?
    B) Rashford & Mubama > Mbuemo, Alvarez (free)?
    C) Kabore & Rashford > Walker & Mbuemo (free)?
    D) Other thoughts?

Fuming with myself for removing Akanji & Mbeumo for Gabriel & Richarlison the day the season started and it's pranging me out not having either.

Similar position. Gabriel becomes the biggest problem if he's benched again. Obvs end up with a benching headache with 8 viable midfielders/strikers but I think there are some fairly good rotation patters so not the end of the world.

Thoughts on Akanji? Seems to play when fit and city have a decent run of fixtures?

Not very attacking at all is the main downside

People still want to play roulette with 6pt-ceiling defenders who look like getting rotated constantly?

The Holy Trinity of Saka-Martinelli-Ode can turn a good gw in to a great gw tonight!

How could I improve this team?

    Johnstone, Turner
    Chilwell, Estupiñan, Udogie, Gabriel, Kabore
    Saka, BF, Rashford, Foden, Mitoma
    Haaland, Watkins, Edouard

Thinking about making a move, either Kabore to Gusto or Watkins to Jackson, and save another FT, thoughts?

Save I think and if Bruno and Rashford still do nothing ship them out after Forest.

I think you need Mbeumo or Wissa - perhaps the latter if you’re thinking of losing Watkins anyway, although Rashford to Mbeumo is an option I’m considering

Kinda want to postpone a move for a Brentford attacker until their home game against Cherries. Fairly settled on Rash to Foden. Looks like it comes down to Pedro to Alvarez or Jackson. Tempted by Jackson for this Luton game but thinking the next one vs Forrest can be actually tough. Thoughts?

Don't obsess about fixtures, especially for a player like Jackson who is unproven. I say this having had him from GW1 where he's looked dangerous/good but hasn't got me an attacking point.

Brentford on the other hand have good fixtures and have in form players that are delivering NOW. Mbuemo would be the ideal choice but I have Wissa atm. Worried about Wissa constantly being subbed off, Mbuemo seems more nailed on.

Who would you sell to get Mbeumo in?

    A) Rich
    B) Rash

Alvarez + Mbeumo is a better combo than Wissa + Foden right?

Think I prefer Foden and Wissa

Wissa & Mbeumo is probably the best combo, stats look better for both v the City players.

      I think Mbeumo > Foden > Wissa > Alvarez

So it's kind of either or.

Anything here other than Archer > Semenyo and revisit next week?

2 FT, would've done Eze > Brighton for free but now priced out of it.

    Pickford / Flekken

Chilwell - Estupinian - Saliba - Shaw (Tarkowski)

Saka - Rashford - Bruno - Mbuemo (Eze)

    Haaland - Watkins (Archer)

You're virtually setting that FT on fire with a 3rd sub switch. You don't want to sell Bruno/Pickford/Tarkowski/Shaw?

Bruno looked good and has a great fixture.

Defence or keeper transfer is interesting - maybe Pickford > Areola to free up some funds.
