This evening we roll out the final part of our series of Projections articles for the season ahead. Having already assessed the Keepers, Defenders and the Midfielders, it’s finally time to start searching for value up front.

With the aid of our freshly Projections, we’ve analysed the average points expected per player over the course of the upcoming campaign and, applying this to the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player price list, have listed the top ten in terms of expected value per Fantasy pound for the season ahead…

        One thing for sure, its definitely unsound science and more likely to play with your head than give you data that is reliable enough to base decisions on. Personally, would avoid reading anything into these.

      You don't see him getting 10+ goals? Twelve months ago I read a lot of doubts about the value of Holt and Sinclair for the same reasons - this is a guy who has already tasted the top flight, though and looks a certain start for 5.0.

        Its hard to disagree with you Mark, all that is true. And I can see that he tops the value chart because of his super cheap price tag.

        But although it isn't impossible for him to have a decent season I personally wouldn't like him to take up a forward slot all season on the hope that he would, given the last 9 games he played most recently.

          Stats don't tell the whole story. You can't project form accurately over the course of a season. So ultimately its unreliable.

          I just keep having flashbacks to Sylvan Ebanks Blake pulling a hammy in the first match of the season and realising that my entire team structure was screwed, because there was no one for me to get in at the same price.

          True story. Pretty chilling I'm sure you'll agree.

    I don't get the Pog hate. He bossed the league when he arrived at Fulham. He's dirt cheap and has proven he'll find the back of the net if given the service. His build and style suits a newly promoted team perfectly. Remember many of his goals were damn good finishes. He's not a bad bet.

    One is clearly safe and predictable, the other is risky but could be brilliant.
    I'm also considering Taarabt, which would allow me to bump up Hughes to Coloccini.

      Then don't get him. I for one want to benefit from his price tag and good rotation with Noble. He should be great value this season. And including him strengthens your team elsewhere.

        The main thing it 'breaks' for me is my Noble/Maloney partnership where I thought I was going to catch a bit of a price rise. I'll have to drop Maloney as he rotates the worst out of the two to go with Allen because I'd like to have Swansea coverage for the start of the season.

        If Wigan continue on as they did at the end of last season I'll be disappointed not to have a piece of it (though I suppose I can always go Allen or Noble -> Maloney if that happens and one of the others isn't working out).

          I can understand that. But would you be willing to start a 6m striker every game? And if you are having Rooney and Aguero, then surely you need to a budget option so your midfield doesn't suffer. For me, Pog is quite important to the team balance as i see Rooney and Aguero as almost essential.

            I dunno, I'm quite happy with my team either way.

            (Ignoring possible Chelsea 1 weekers)

            Friedel // 4.0
            Baines // Hangeland // Rangel // Cuellar // McCartney
            Bale // Dempsey // McClean // Noble // Maloney
            Rooney // Aguero // Graham

            I think that's a plenty strong midfield to start the season. The .5 I'd get from switching Graham/Maloney out to Pog/Allen I'd be tempted to use to upgrade my backup keeper to Federici or someone, or I'd just leave it in the bank for now.

            I'm swaying more towards having Pog in because if I step back from it I don't see Pogs/Grahams contributions being a whole lot different to justify the 1.0. It's just finding where best to put the savings thats difficult.

        Djourou will never play right back again. I would also imagine Jenkinson is ahead of Coquelin. He's a 'specialist' right back so you've got to persevere and show some faith - something Arsene has a lot of history with. Jenkinson will play IMO.

        The problem is that doing a Pog transfer to Petric or Graham or any 6.0+ striker who starts the season on form will be difficult imo

      I'm personally trying to get DDG in my team whilst keeping Lescott and Cole and an attack that's remarkably similar to yours.

      Only thing is that I don't like Wilson's fixtures and will he even be nailed on?
