Going Tarkowski to Botman over getting rid of Chilwell was probably the unluckiest transfer I’ve ever made in 17 seasons.

Would have played him over Daliba but it’s fine. Just funny how dramatic the sell was.

Unlucky- I find in those situations price sways me. I now try and disregard price in a decision like that. Unless I am looking to free up funds.

This week I am starting Reguilon and benching Hojlund for example.

Yeah horrible when get 50/50 decisions wrong.

I only had 1 FT (not been able to save FT as been unlucky with defenders, gabriel & mings in GW1 team) so had to choose between
      Watkins > Alvarez or
      Chilwell > Botman

Even though I knew Chelsea not playing well so watkins could return, whilst chilwell was not guaranteed to start unlike watkins I still chose to get rid of watkins.
      20 point swing.

You are not alone. Faced with those same two choices I also chose Watkins to Alvarez. I nearly did the second move, but decided to avoid taking a hit. I didn't realize it was a 20 point swing until I read your post. This definitely contributed to my dropping nearly 2 million in rank.

Tough call. Personally I was leaning against sacrificing Saka for Salah at all, or would at least want one more week to consider it. And I don't really like making early moves on ambiguous injuries (it could easily just be the issue he's been playing through, plus the radio thing casts enough doubt)

With City next, Arteta might just give him a rest, fuxtures from next week toughen....

If I want Salah, it's either Saka or Son out, and cant sell Son given form and fuxtures...

Chances are I could make the move next week anyway...would need a -4 anyway plus another downgrade transfer...

Okay but it’s a fixture that Arsenal often struggle in - “goals from both sides” implies it’s an evenly-matched goal-fest (like the NLD) but that’s not the case.

They have a torrid record against City. The last time they beat them at the Emirates, Pellegrini was still in charge.

Fancy taking on the Scout Picks?

Each week the Scout panel of Neale, Tom, Marc and Sam pick a team of players who they think will fare best in the upcoming Gameweek, but their choice may leave some people questioning - can I do better?

Well, time to prove you’re more than just talk - a member of the community will be selected to go head-to-head against the Scout Picks, with the person who has the largest winning margin across the 38 Gameweeks taking home a £100 Amazon voucher and entry to our Mods and Cons League. Last year’s winner was Boleyn Boy, who beat the Scouts by 27 points.

This year, the current leader is Prophet thanks to his 24-point winning margin in Gameweek 3.

You need to pick 11 players to challenge the Scout Picks in a one-off head-to-head match.

If chosen, you will have a budget of £83m to select 11 players (no subs) but outside of that standard FPL rules apply - you need to use a normal FPL formation with a limit of three players from a team.

And remember to pick a captain and a vice-captain.

If you are interested, email me at will@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk with the subject heading “Community Picks”. Please include your FFS username and FPL Team ID.

Ideally, I like everyone who enters to have a go, so let me know when you apply if you are available for future Gameweeks.

The champion will be picked by Thursday evening UK time, so make sure to enter by then.

If selected you then have until 1pm Friday lunchtime to send in your team, but tweaks are allowed right up to the deadline (in case of injuries announced in the press conferences).

Successive Community victories from Nice To Finally Michu and BadgeVilla have levelled the overall score at 3-3.

Personally I'd just do Gusto to Botman and save the other FT. If you're looking at getting in Salah and/or a Spurs mid I wouldn't waste a transfer on Morris, especially as you'll probably need to use another to get him out. Use them for the long-term moves

Wilson is still a viable option though. He's in excellent form and is dangerous even when coming off the bench. Given the lack of really outstanding striker options, he's definitely up there as a strong contender for selection

    Raya
    Trippier - Burn - Kabore
    Son - Salah - Bowen - Mitoma - Rashford.
    Haaland (c) - Morris

    Areola - Taylor - Colwill - Archer

Fairly settled on this for wildcard after Saka news.
Bench weak but doesn't concern me as I have a plan once I get to 2 FT again. I like my attack and I can afford Trippier.

your bench is extremely thin, you're unlikely to ever want to play Kabore after this week, same for Taylor, then you're left with just Newcastle & Chelsea for your defense, imo you should consider Turner for Raya, then getting Gabriel for Taylor just for a little more depth, the funds work out exactly too

I've never ever needed more than 1 substitute from the bench so Taylor / Colwill will suffice for a week or two until I use transfers and money in the bank to alter things and bin Luton players.

Something Ive never understood. The premier league teams who have no chance of finishing top 4 or top 6. The cup competitions are their best chance of actually winning anything.

Why do they play 2nd string teams? Look at the Palace and Wolves line ups. Palace don't even have their best player playing. Its not like they are in Europe so need to manage games.

Why arent they going all out to try and win the competition? Dont get it.

Higher league spots win more money. The prize money for winning the Carabao won only cover Eze’s wages for 2 weeks.

There's financially more riding on PL survival than progressing far in the Carabao Cup which will still most likely be won by one of the top teams anyway.

For the early rounds, it's not a surprise that any PL team will field a full strength team

Like everyone else said we have to focus on league spot position each year for the last 10 years since getting to the prem, both to stay up and every place up we get allot more money than in the Carabao. We don't have the luxury of strength in depth like bigger teams so need to rest some players, plus we have quite a few injuries (Olise/Edouard/Franca) FA Cup we normally give it a go (hence getting quite far a few years since getting up)

Gotta stay in the prem man.

The Carabao Cup is an unnecessary and unwanted competition (why does England need two knockout cup competitions?) worth little to clubs in comparison to the Premier League and is traditionally used to enable game time for peripheral squad members and those working their way back to fitness.

Yeah I guess this answers my question pretty well. I just think that football like any sport should be about trying to win things and the cup competitions are there to win so the lesser teams who cant win the league should put all efforts into it.

Fine to give some of the fringe players some game time but dont drop your best players and change the majority of the team. Both Wolves and Palace have left their best players out tonight and strangley enough they are both going out.

I agree that the league cup is probably an unnecessary competition and also doesnt give much prize money. If the clubs agree its unnecessary then why don't they get rid of it? As you say, 1 club knockout competition is enough.

What to do here with 2FT's and 1.2 ITB?

    Onana, Turner
    Udogie, Gvardiol Baldock, Botman, Estu
    Salah, Saka, Mbeumo, Mitoma, Maddison
    Alvarez, Haaland, Mubama

Got lucky couple of gameweeks but some loose canons in the squad.. Mbeumo to Bowen?

      Option 2.

Newcastle, Liverpool and West Ham have great fixtures going forward. Trips and maybe Diaby are the only good options from 1 but Trips is significantly more expensive than other Newcastle defenders

I would say so. He’ll doesn’t seem to rule players out when coming back/being assessed for injury, even though he knows they’re not ready. Could be truthful but he’ll deliberately reveal Saka is banged up to make Bou question if he’ll play

Those of you like me, who need to make up ground following a lacklustre gameweek. Anyone punting against Haaland for Captain?

    I'm considering Salah or Bowen

      Not for me.

Haaland will be my captain without question up until GW10 when Salah (Forest at home) could be a better option than Haaland (Utd away)

you have 32 GWs to make up the ground, having said that if you think Haaland doesnt get more than 1 attacking return then go for it

On a WC what a better pairing
    A) maddison & JWP
    B) Diaby & Bowen

Decided on Salah, Son & Saka*
*will change if confirmed injured otherwise staying as happy with my bench

Mind posting team? I am looking to wc too, and like Maddison, Bowen and Diaby. Not sold on JWP. JWP will be a 140pts player again this year I think. The others can go to 160+

        Yeah current WC 0.4 ITB
        Areola/Turner
        Bot/Burn/cash/udogie/kabore
        Salah/Son/Maddi/Saka/JWP
        Haaland/Alvarez/Archer

If JWP got 142 for Southampton then think he can 20 points more playing for a better team like West ham

I realy like West hams fixtures all way upto GW22 just villa, spurs & arsenal away the most difficult ones but can score in the others
