Would you sell Burn for Gabriel and play him over Cash?
Other defenders to play will be Porro and Trippier.

Is it worth sacrificing Trippier to bring in Watkins, or is Trippier a season-keeper on current form?

Is Trippier worth getting in now with fixtures turning and at +0.5?

Are Brighton worth punting on vs other options for their good fixtures run?

Train A leaves the station traveling at 30 miles per hour. Two hours later train В leaves the same station traveling in the same direction at 40 miles per hour. How far from the station was train A overtaken by train B?

A has a 60 mile headstart when B leaves. B catches him in 6 hrs.

Sorry, to leave you hanging, but was in a meeting.

In basic terms, Train A has a 60 mile "head start" when Train B gets moving. Since the speeds of the two trains are 30mph and 40mph, Train B will "make up" 10 miles every hour.

        60 miles = (10mph)(T)
        6 hours = T

So, 6 hours after it starts, Train B will catch up to Train A.

        (6 hours)(40mph) = 240 miles

Given where I live, you'd have to factor in scheduled stops, delays and the fact there is only one track going in each direction. On that basis, train B will never overtake train A and will have to slow down if it gets too close.

Maybe, but different lines means different distances, and that complicates things more.

In unrelated news, I'm on my second train for the day and this one isn't making any effort to catch up or overtake anything.

I think the previous team should match or maybe outscore the new one

Also, Archer + Lascelles/Branthwaite over Osula + Kabore if you do wildcard

I wouldn't keep Trippier on a GW10 WC, due to fixtures (they matter for him - see earlier this season). He's a great asset, but he's making you take Neto (assists) over Bowen (goals) and forcing you to start Palmer in some of the toughest possible games

Something like Trippier + Neto + Kabore + Taylor + Osula > Coufal + Bowen + Guehi + Lascelles + Foster (Burnley), bench Palmer for most of his horrible run, then switch Bowen + Cash to Trippier + 4.4 mid in GW15 while Palmer becomes your regular starter

I have another view of Newcastle fixtures and form. The two away fixtures are good and while Arsenal is tough, Arsenal were not producing anything vs Chelsea until Sanchez gave thChelsea and United to score. And yes they had tough fixture in the first run and didn't get cs, but they're in better shape now.

A rare 4-5-1 team has appeared!

Odegaard and Morris are the lowest performers in your strong team, so yeah, I also think that's your route to Watkins

That said, I do like the look of Ode to Saka for free instead

      1. Tripleh123
        • 3 Years

Thanks. No Watkins vs Luton is worrying me. Odegaard could also haul this weekend & I think he is the current penalty taker. Is it a good idea to do Morris to Nketiah since Jesus might be injured currently?

        1. Ze_Austin
          • 5 Years
          6 months, 10 days ago

Ode's open play threat has all but evaporated this season, and I don't know why

He's not on pens. He's just one of the options that the team might decide should take a pen on any given day, but Saka is the main taker... According to Arteta, at least

Wouldn't touch Nketiah. I'd rather have Burnley's Foster, but that's a free move to make later if you don't get Watkins

If you want Watkins (-4) more than you want Saka for free, then maybe A with Adingra instead

Wouldn't sell OOP Son when fit. That's 250+ points, imo

I think the gap between Son and Saka for points will only get wider, even with Saka's better fixtures. They are completely different kinds of assets. Son is likely competing with Haaland and Salah for the golden boot, a race he entered as late as GW4

I'd leave Lamptey as your 3rd sub here and go Maddison to Saka with those funds instead. They seem closer in points potential, so I think the fixtures matter more in the Maddison vs Saka debate than Son vs Saka. Diaby to Mitoma/Luiz if a bit extra funds are needed, maybe

      Damn, that's tough

I'd go with B here, but I'd rather have Nakamba + Guehi than Adingra + Branthwaite. There's nobody in your front 7 that I'd play Adingra over any time soon, while Guehi can come in for Grabiel or Tsimikas in their toughest games. Rotates pretty well

Your fourth defender can cover this as well as a defensive no-show

Branthwaite or Taylor can come in with negative points if something happens to one of your three starting defenders

So a fourth def covers both scenarios, I think

Compared with Watkins, Bowen and Alvarez for the next few GWs, probably so. Someone has to drop out to make the rest of the GW10 template affordable. It'll be a lot easier if it was Haaland dropping out, but I wouldn't do that either

Son is the other clear miss, but yeah. Funds

      Will you have Saka?

Neither. Tsimikas plays for a worse defence than both

I just went Trippier to Gabriel for GW10, and I'm going Udogie to Guehi in GW11, both due to fixtures. These four teams each have double the number of Liverpool clean sheets so far

Every season there's a sense of disbelief over a player. I think this season it's Cole Palmer that will massively over perform

    Positives:
On penalties.. i dunno why he has been given this opportunity but he looks nailed to take them now especially After scoring vs arsenal and getting the blessing of enzo and taking it away from a senior ie Sterling. He is defo trusted by the gaffer and penalties is a show of intent

Positioning: Playing with an out and out striker has not worked for Chelsea. Can see him playing OOP in the tougher matches ie tot, MCI, new and on the wing in the easier matches hence making him a bit fixture proof. Browsing through the fan forums and they love him and claim he is what havertz should have been

Price: At 5.0 he could be the best enabler in the game especially since it's a load of dross at that price point

    Negatives:
Fixtures.. However apart from MCY and new his fixtures are probably the best you could ask for till the end of the year.

    Nailedness:
Rotation should be limited too since Chelsea aren't competing elsewhere apart from cups. He is young though and that could work either way when it comes to missing matches/playing all of them. If playing with a striker then he competes with mudryk and he may lose his spot if he underperforms(though can't see it)

Ideally , one could even bench him at that price here and there and even if he fails he can sit on the bench for a bit without affecting team structure too much.

I honestly prefer him over the likes of Luiz, Neto, Gordon and can see him matching them over the season. Currently he is at the top of my list as a Mbeumo replacement especially since I need the cash considering i don't want to downgrade the likes of saka, son, salah, mads, haaland, Alvarez this year.. so he is the ideal position to free up cash

Ideal scenario is he blanks until November end hence keeping his price under 5.1. Would give us more time to scout him too. Fantastic player. Mentally though at 5 and under he could be an 8th attacker. Above 5.0 and he would be a 7th attacker for me if that makes sense lol

      Nice post.
He's 5m because he was listed as a Man City player and as a squad option, with limited playing time expected. If he was listed as s mid playing for Chelsea, you can look at the other attacking mids there and do the maths. Potentially underpriced with a million and a half.

Nkunku and the Jan transfer window are medium to long term threats to Palmer's minutes and points, if Nkunku gets pens especially.

Both. That's an absurd number of pens

But I remember the period in which Man U played in a way that supplied Bruno with regular pens, so maybe this all-out-attack version of Liverpool will keep getting those. Open-play assists and goals will surely keep flowing with the way we play now, so it's great for points

      1. bench boost for every gamew…
        • 7 Years
        6 months, 10 days ago

Pens are difficult to predict but there are factors that contributes to them potentially being few or many. Liverpool are a better attacking unit and more importantly, a lot of tricky players that are not afraid to go down in the pen area. Szobo, Macalister and Gravenberch, to a lesser extent Eliott and Jones are players that are more likely to get fouled there than those we had last year. Adding our five attackers and fullbacks crossing in (and the way handball rule is officiated) I would argue that Liverpool are fat more likely to get a pen.
That said, I think Salah with his slightly adjusted role will tick over a bit like Kane last year. Also, his bps is higher, and already seen that he's in the bonus mix with only one goal or two assists. If he gets more frequently bonus points, he could still match his best seasons even if hauls are more rare.

      2. bench boost for every gamew…
        • 7 Years

That said, four in nine it's absurdly high. But Liverpool have also played tough away games and with one man down three times for a large chunk of those, so one could argue with better fixtures and hopefully with eleven men the less pens will probably coincide with more attacking returns fromopen play.

    Hello!

1ft & 1.8itb to spend, I guess Alvarez should go for Watkins.
Should I also take -4 to swap Maddison -> Saka? Maddison has a good fixture as well but Arsenal might go mental.

    Areola
    Trippier Cash Udogie
    Maddison* Son Salah Palmer Neto
    Alvarez* Haaland

    Turner Botman Kabore Archer

He could go mental, but also he had a game last night while TOT has nothing until CRY. Got similar concerns about brining Saka for some TOT player or Diaby who is playing LUT(H). Not worth going -4 IMO

Alvarez for Watkins is fine for me.

Would love to have both, but it looks impossible at the moment due to funds spread in my team. Would have to downgrade Maddison/Son and take -8 to get enough funds. Would also mean playing without Arsenal mid for next few weeks.

Good morning fellow experts, need your opinion on the next:

    Areola Turner
    Trippier Andersen Porro Cash Lamptey
    Salah Maddison Son Diaby Ward-Prowse
    Darwin Alvarez Watkins

2FT and 2.1m in the bank.

Thinking of bringing Saka and/or Gabriel, but don't know if for whom. Also, soon Mitoma will be needed back, but for whom?

TOT doesn't have and Europe matches while WHU, AVL and ARS have. Diaby plays vs LUT(H) and Ward-Prowse vs EVE(H).

What would you do if you were in my spot (currently Alvarez on the bench against MNU(A))?

JWP. Everton have been defending well recently, and he's playing a deeper role. Could always get something via set pieces, but I think he's the most droppable this week

          1. Pater familias
            • 1 Year
            6 months, 10 days ago

Interesting one, but I it is bothering me that JWP is better BPS magnet than Bowen. Although Bowen has 19 more points, JWP had again ~0.5 xGI while Bowen had 0.1 and got a goal against Villa.

            1. Ze_Austin

...via a lucky deflection, at that

I have JWP and was considering selling him until I watched that match

But you have a very deep squad here, so some tiny factors - like Everton restricting recent opponents to very few big chances - will start to matter in picking starters

Thanks for your reply. Think I'll throw Diaby out since he has blanked 5 times, JWP 3, and has less xGI at this point. Hope it doesn't backfire.

      2. Ze_Austin
        • 5 Years
        6 months, 10 days ago

        Longer version:

I'd go Diaby (flatters to deceive, but could definitely backfire with those fixtures) to Saka and maybe bench JWP vs the improving Everton, while the only player I'd consider selling for Gabriel here is Lamptey, but not this week

So, Diaby to Saka (reluctantly) and roll with a 3-4-3

Good luck going without the robot. Lovely team

I agree with Ze Austin regarding not benching attacker vs United and especially not the one that will get si much space, Alvarez is so good exploiting the hole between the lines and United defends with two blocks of five, which leaves a lot of space between their attack and defense.

I expect each on the left to outscore their replacements on the right

Son is at least a level above: 250+ points imo. Saka vs Maddison is a closer combat: around 220 points. Martinelli seems a level below those two: somewhere around 200 this season

This reply could be a lot longer if I detailed why, but I guess you see it too

One more thing about Martinelli: Jesus is injured again, which tends to negatively impact him with Nketiah up top

Unless Trossard/Havertz comes in instead, but Arteta clearly favours Nketiah

      B. Martinelli looks sharp, could go big in the next few. Proper upside pick if you're aiming for that.

The problem here is that he doesn't just have to be good, but better than Maddison, for the transfer to be a net positive

I think he can be better than Maddison. Maddison will tick along until 15, the fixtures aren't great. Martinelli has haul potential against SHU, BUR, WOL, lut ..

    Areola Turner
    Cash Porro Burn Guehi Taylor
    Salah Son Madisson Diaby Marvelous
    Haaland Watkins Alvarez

    2FT, £0.2m

Madisson and Porro to Saka and Gabriel for free? Or just Guehi to Gabriel and roll? Or something else?

    Would you keep Mbuemo here?
    1. Could move for Mitoma with 1ft but not that convinced.
    2. Another option is a double move out Mbuemo/Maddison -> Saka/Gordon (-4).
    3. Something else. (Maybe with Watkins or the likes of Martinelli in mind etc).

    Areola.
    Udogie, Trippier, Cash.
Salah (c), Luiz, Mbuemo, Son, Maddison.
    Haaland, Alvarez.
    Flekken, Beyer, Archer, Kabore.
    1ft, 0.0m. WC gone.

Wouldn’t get Saka in for a hit as arsenal got Newcastle the following week. Madds has got palace this week so would keep him.so either do 1 or get a West Ham player like jwp

Pretty similar to my WC, except I might keep trippier & buy Gordon instead of guehi + Bowen

Best options for the two missing spots in my WC squad?

Note that i currently have trippier & porro in my team, so have value tied up with them
I can get a mid upto 5.6 along with keeping trippier or maybe porro to Bowen

    Areloa/Strakoshka

    Cash/Gabriel/XX/Tsimikas/Taylor

    Saka/Son/Salah/Palmer/XX

    Watkins/Haaland/Archer

12.4 mn for the two spots, both starters

I see a possible fluid 4-4-2/3-5-2 here, so maybe Bowen + Guehi + Coufal (lose Taylor) will let you rotate all 5 defenders and Palmer based on fixtures

Then Bowen + Cash can combine into Trippier + 5.0 mid in GW15

Not very keen on rotation, having been stung by couple of Johnstone hauls on my bench, plus Palmer being on pens means he might score against any team, thinking of cramming in max premiums for 2-3 GW span & then sell the one not performing

Should be a comfortable win for Kylie for sustained excellence
Delta only really a thing at local level
Danni the Phil to Kylie's Gary
The other two pretty much one hit wonders
But has to be Natalie for me - certain time and place - like Andrei Kanchelskis being my favourite ever Utd player.

Who to lose to bring in Watkins?

Trippier, Cash, Udogie, Diaby, Mads, Bowen, Son, Salah, Haaland, Alvarez

    Son and Alvarez feels wrong

    .5 in the bank

I took out Haaland but I’m either brave or more to the point stupid so far over the last 2 weeks hasn’t come back on me . All depends personally how you want to play the game safe or take a major punt . At the moment Alvarez is out scoring Haaland and so is Watkins if that answer your question.

Similar squad, also struggling with how to get Watkins. I have 2 ft, so considering downgrading both Maddison and Diaby spots (I have JWP)

Currently thinking Alvarez and Diaby to Watkins and someone cheaper (no idea). Feels like any move could burn, but to ignore Watkins is a major mistake
