It’s about that time when rank climbing stalls. I’m around the same rank and getting into the top 100k is going to require differentials I think. I’ve got Kudus but reckon I need another.

Yeah I find I can make more progress after Christmas and later into the season when things get a bit more tricky. Kudus looks great, Bowens blank really hurt, if he blanks v Spurs he's gone for Son.

8 greens in a row for me 2.4m to 161k and my team is pretty template.

      Areola (Turner)
      Trippier, Gabriel, Guehi (Taylor, Branthwaite)
      Salah, Son, Saka, Palmer, Gordon
      Haaland, Watkins (Archer)

Yes I almost got rid of Watkins this GW but keeping him and getting rid of Diaby instead had the knock on effect of playing Taylor (instead of Guehi). So a lot of luck involved.

did Saka to Gordon (-4) this week. Other transfer was Bowen to Mbeumo. Feel ok about it, Archer to Darwin could pay off nicely if he starts.

DGW20 is getting less likely by the day.

Anyone thinking of going WC20 if that's the case, selling Salah and Son and getting behind the sofa, plus hoping they both reach the finals of their respective tournaments and thus gain an advantage on other managers?

Liverpool vs Newcastle & Spurs vs Bournemouth in GW20.

I wonder what the next likely double would be if not GW20, or is there no free midweeks prior to the 29/31/34/37 shenanigans that usually happens.

I feel like my rank has suffered in recent weeks planning for something not set in stone, so just hoping on the Salah and Son thing I guess. Having Salah and Son at base means they both have to likely drop 0.3m as it stands to buy back at the same price having banked the profit.

Newcastle has a couple of tricky fixtures also 20+21, still think I'll be having Trippier regardless. Trent feels a more difficult decision, although he might just become that good moving forward that he will benefit rank massively.

Anyone want a stab at a WC 20 team for me, working with a budget of around 103m I'd assume.

I'm not thinking beyond the next few GWs, too many injuries happening to plan beyond that. Who's to say that Son and Salah both get to their respective international tournaments?

I meant injuries. It's not unusual for at least one high profile player to miss an international tournament

They're both captains of their respective sides and they're big tournaments so I don't see them skipping over it for something minor. If they're out of them with significant injuries then it still means they'd have to be dealt with in FPL

Well of course. I sold Saka last week so I could bench Diaby and bring in an 8th attacker, so at least my squad will be strong for GW18. That move feels uncomfortable now having sold at 8.6m and now 8.9m. I almost feel like going treble Arsenal defence beyond this week even at Villa Park and Anfield to go for the big gamble, when really I should sell one and possibly Tsimikas too for the likes of Pedro Porro and Reece James.

Haaland to Watkins I'd already locked in for 18, originally I'd planned to bench Mbeumo & Alvarez having accumulated value there to have for the GW20 bonanza. I don't mind not owning Haaland at Goodison were I to switch WC to 20 so current plans have little change, just which two defenders do i get with my 16 & 17 transfers. I have a feeling I'll get Zinchenko and Livramento for Charlie Taylor and Tsimikas.

That would be City and Brentford who blank in gw18.

would of been both home games for City, Brentford and Sheffield United and basically 90% TC Haaland week.

    Areola (Turner)
    Tsimikas Gabriel Cash (Taylor, Lamptey*)
    Salah Son Saka Sterling Mbeumo
    Haaland Watkins (Semenyo)

    1FT, 0,3 ITB.
Was thinking Lamptey to Lascelles, or Cash to Colwill, Or maybe Turner to Dubravka.

    Any suggestions?

They probably don't think he will but it creates debate and controversy. It was a mistake by Hooper obviously but its just as easy for us to replay Haaland missing the open goal and putting a WTF comment. Interesting very few are focusing on that. City have been guilty in numerous games now of not killing off the opponents when in front.

Gonna do Turner -> Dubravka for free and bank the 0.1
Nothing worth a hit right? Only that 0.1 ITB:

    Dubravka
    TAA - Trippier - Tsimikas
    Salah (C) - Son - Saka - Mbeumo - Palmer
    Haaland - Morris

    (Areola, Taylor, Archer, Baldock)

      VVD precedent

A statement from the Football Assocartion read: “Virgil van Dijk has been suspended for one match and fined £100,000 for breaching FA Rule E3.1 during Liverpool’s Premier League fixture against Newcastle.

“The defender admitted that he acted in an improper manner and used abusive and insulting words towards a match official after being sent off in the 29th minute, and the sanctions were subsequently imposed by an independent regulatory commission.”

Few things to note with this is that the decision to give him a ban didn't come until nearly two weeks after the game in which it happened, he had been sent off so had already been banned for a game, and it was decided during an IB so there was a big gap between games with that. If a decision was to happen here in a similar timeframe, it might not happen until after City (and Haaland) have played two, maybe three games after the incident. They might feel it would be a bit late at that stage to do it

        Ye I get that.

Thing is though - VVD made the foul, got the red, and then got angry. His anger costed him an additional ban.

Haaland got fouled, ref made a horrendous (potentially game changing) decision, then Haaland got angry. His anger costed him a yellow card.

In no way am I saying that Haaland lashing out is okay, but the emotions is part of what is making this game beautiful.

I think Haaland will play next match. The ref was doing a bad job. Emotions took over, and he got a yellow card. Hardly the first player to swear, but most of the others getting a yellow card for cursing and lashing out are holding a hand in front of their mouth or being somewhat more subtle about it.
In 90+3'th after a mistake from the ref in a 3-3 match... Most would react this way.

It's tough to be a ref!
