Is Saka really that out of form? I didn't manage to catch the thrashing but with a player of his calibre, would expect Saka to be hungry for goals when everyone around him is netting. Another plus is that he's on penalties. Would like to hear your opinion on how he fared for the eye test

No WC, have Flekken/Kelleher for GKs. Are either of these GK transfers worth a -4?

    A - Flekken -> Vicario (-4)
    B - Kelleher -> Dubravka (-4)
C - No, just start Flekken

Everton aren't exactly free scoring at the moment - other than their 2-0 Victory over Forest you'd have to go back to the 2-2 draw with Spurs at the start of Feb to find a game they scored more than once in. So Flekken probably a good chance of a clean sheet in 35 and, if he does, I suspect easily outscores Vicario for a hit.

Wouldn't do B without certainty on Pope's return and again, not for a hit.

      So C

Now that FH34 has obliterated FH29 with one day's fixtures to go, what differentials can be taken on WC35 to counter the said obliteration? Triple city attack with KdB foden Haaland? Keep arsenal defender like white? Or maybe Trent? Think front 7 is set with

    1/2 Newcastle, 2/3 city, 2/3 Chelsea, 1/2 spurs & 1/2 united

PS- asking for a friend obviously

I fancy Trent and White/Gabriel (budget dependent) at the back. Creates a headache about whether to play them ahead of a likely Newcastle, Chelsea, Spurs other three spots but I think Ars and Liv good options in 36 and 38.

My front 8 is probably somewhat similar - think I may swerve United and plump for Havertz though.

Yeah havertz might be a good punt, but mids slots are tough to fit in

I don't really see that as a negative. I am not 100% sure I want any Spurs, United or Chelsea defenders - maybe Onana as GK and Gusto because cheap

Two games means more chances to pen save for example. But which teams have penalty takers poor enough? Che without Palmer? Vicario perhaps in that case.

It's going to be difficult against FH34 WC35 teams. No matter what you do, one of us is going to do the same. Unless you go ultra crazy. I for example am happy with White and Havertz and plan to keep them both. Going without both Salah and Haalan might be the way though. That allows Trent and Trippier in the back for example.

I would love some news that Haaland is out for longer and swerve him. But unless he is out for 37, surely he's captain for the double - even if just to avoid negative points from the huge EO. If you are on WC it's just going to cost you hits if you don't have him off the bat

On WC, midfield & attack looks pretty certain, with foden Haaland isak Gordon palmer Jackson double ups along with son, last spot up for grabs with Johnson/Bruno up there
It is defence where it can be tweaked, most of the teams doubling have terrible defence, so think getting 1/2 arsenal defenders should do well considering they might match spurs Chelsea United in one less game

I guess it is a fairly template WC, but does this look ok? BB37. 2 Arsenal Def maybe overkill, but it's hard to ignore 8 cs in 11 and White having more attacking potential.

    Petrovic
    Porro Schar White
    Palmer Son Maddison Gordon
    Haaland Isak Jackson

    Ederson Foden Maguire Gabriel

    1. The Red Devil

Why not BJ over Maddison? I'm considering a similar WC, how much ITB do you have? Is Gabriel to TAA possible?

That Bruno? I keep switching between Madds/Bruno/Havertz, so that spot is still undecided. Man U are so erratic and Burnley have been reasonably solid recently. Not close to being able to afford Trent, only 0.2 left with this draft.

Ah that makes sense now cheers! Maddison was at the heart of everything Spurs were doing at the start of the season, I guess I just keep expecting him to return to that form at some point and he wont be highly owned I suspect.

Brennan Johnson, yeah TAA isn't affordable, I came up with the following with 1.6 ITB

          Onana/petrovic
          Gabriel/White/Gvardiol/Schar/Porro
          Johnson/Son/Palmer/Gordon/foden
          Haaland/isak/Jackson

          1.6 ITB

Yeah uncertain minutes, but so few options in defence, plus if city win the league in 37, ortega will play, I could do onana Gvardiol to Maguire and ederson

I like it. Definitely Johnson over Maddison - and I think benching Foden this might bite you.

Not sold on Ederson, but then I am a firm believer that City defence is consistently overrated

      1. antis0cial
        • 9 Years

Thanks. I guess it's just a DGW keeper for 37 that is nailed I was looking for (would play Ederson 36 and 38 too), Onana the other option.. they not exactly solid at the back though! As for Foden, it would either be a DGW player or Gordon/Isak home to SHU to switch out.

Ironically, United are pretty solid at the back - fewest goals conceded outside of the top 3. Onana top got save points too.

Realise the issue with the benching headache. I think I would prefer to play Foden over a second Spurs mid. I am personally thinking Havertz in the slot you have Maddison, who would be benched, and then the same other seven.

          1. antis0cial
            • 9 Years

That's crazy, I guess recency bias as they seem to have conceded a lot of goals in the past 4-5 games, and watching them, they always look likely to concede. Thanks!

Yeah, that 5th mid spot is really open for a punt. I was just looking at Johnson over Madds as advised, and that does mean I could have TAA over White, not sure if that's worth it though, does give options to consider.

So am I. I would feel stupid not having him. His xGi in one is higher than what Maddison gets in 3. These could be famous last words though. But betting on Rashford or DCL finding their lost form has been a lesson learned for me.

i think the phrase 'downed tools' is one of the most over used in football these days in but chelsea last night was as close as ive seen to a team just willfully throwing in the towel and not even being that bothered about. it was incredible to to watch. but the rot has been at that club for years even when they were winning trophies. a constant cycle of new managers and players to the level where they are still pining for a striker who last polayed for them nearly a decade ago

Such a weirdly ran club, as you say despite them winning things the past years, there was always something rotten brewing, with the constant cycles of players, managers and ofc Boehly and/or Ambramovich debacle. Don't think they will get so easily out of this either... oh and Poch isn't the man for them, pretty sure most Chelsea fans feel this way as well.

Yep good point. That performance certainly makes things murkier ahead of the doubles too.

Things were looking fairly rosy before that though - a 6-0 win that came at the end of an 8-match unbeaten run in which they scored 25 goals (over 3 goals per game). They were obviously the better side vs City too, albeit wasteful and up against a clearly fatigued City side.

So was the Arsenal game a blip? A team deflated after the suckerpunch semifinal defeat? In which case they may dust themselves off and go again to finish 6th. Or have they just imploded now, with little motivation left for their remaining games, and players that will give up if things start going against them in any given game?

i find it strange that when defenders continually concede goals from set pieces that pundits will immediately say oh they havent worked on that in training yet when strikers continually miss big chances as jackson does its fully on the player. ive never understood that. yes he has a confidence issue clearly but you'd also wonder what they are doing at the club to help him.

I was considering him, seems nailed and has good attacking stats. Obv a bit less sure about the chelsea defence now after last night. And with Petrovic seemingly the best value keeper at 4.6, Cucarella would likely mean a double up on that shaky defence with bad fixtures

GK/ DEF on WC35 is still a massive headache outside of Gabriel, Porro and Schar/Burn.

I'm actually leaning towards keeping double Arsenal def Gabriel/Saliba to solve this issue.

    1. The Red Devil
      • 10 Years

It also prevents going double defence for spurs Chelsea or united, thinking of getting white/Gabriel in defence to enable double spurs & Chelsea in attack

I haven't ruled out Vicario and Porro as I'm not clear on GK picks yet. Petrovic probably the only one I'm certain on.

Chelsea - Petrovic, Palmer and Jackson

Spurs - Vicario, Porro, Johnson and Son

Agree. It's where my WC headaches lie. I think Onana is worth it for a GK and therefore id inherently exclude a second United defender. I'm a fan of Trent - good potential for points in 36 and 38 and potential to become anyone else in one move if needed. I like Gusto for value, but with injuries and being Chelsea I am not sure it makes sense.

United not scoring enough for me to see Dalot as an attacking upside - plus GK is just such a headache that Onana feels like best chance of CS, Saves, certain minutes and more fixtures than others

If I were on WC / BB I'd have this combo.

It's expensive, but I don't see Salah as necessary in MF given the cheaper DGW options available.

      Petrovic / Onana

      White, Gabriel, Schar, Porro, TAA.

On BB you're picking 3 single gameweekers?

Which DGW defenders would you pick over TAA/White/Gabriel?

          City = rotation

          Brighton / Spurs / Man U:
2 hard fixtures and all have poor defence record.

I think this week will be remembered like TC Mane (instead of Salah) and C KdB scoring 4 when Salah blanked. And Son + Kane assisting and scoring 4 in one game. Season defining stuff. Is this "FH34 slaughter AD 2023" or how should we name this historical fpl win?

I understand football is unpredictable but no one saw Palace scoring 5 vs West ham and arsenal scoring 5 vs chelsea. We all expected both to win but not with such scores.

This and only this has caused such variation in fh34 vs fh28

There are plenty people out there on fh 34 who have not done well too.

Whu was tired after Europe and Che after FA cup mentally and physically. Chance for them to capitulate was much higher than normally. Arsenal is free scoring team at home and CP different team with Eze and Olise.

I’m totally with you here. Was relatively obvious to me that Palace with Olise back and 2 home games were the ones to target (WHU tiredness a big factor also). Arsenal pumping Chelsea (Palmer being out helped) was a pleasant surprise. Picking white was calculated as the best attacking defender.

I agree, I didn't expect such hammerings in both cases, but there was a reason, taking into account form, fixtures and schedules that I chose double ARS defense + Havertz, and Mateta and Eze for my FH team. I currently still have eight players to play again, including my captain with a gw score of 83.

Yes west ham and chelsea tired but arsenal haven't looked great ans they wasn't amazing vs wolves. Chelsea would have easily scored a couple last night. I just think it's typical football you can't predict and need alot of luck. Just need to take it on the chin for anyone who has not done well this week so far

Building towards BB in 37, selling Udogie.

    A. 2 fixtures, Ait-Nouri (LUT, CRY)
    B. 4 fixtures, Romero (ARS, che, BUR, MCI)
    C. 3 fixtures, Dalot (BUR, ARS, NEW)
    D. 3 fixtures, Dunk (bou, new, CHE)
    E. 2 fixtures, White (tot, MUN)

      Vicario for the saves.

Off topic to wildcards, proposed transfers etc. (I've given up on the season) but for next season what are peoples thoughts on amalgamating the Free Hit Chip and Bench Boost chip.

So, due to the FA Cup next season, we would in effect loose one chip and whenever we free hit the bench boost is automatically in play.

    Any thoughts?

Without too much focus on the doubles:

      Dias, White, Gabriel, TAA, Tark/Branthwaite/Mykolenko.

      Ode, Garnacho, Eze/Olise.

      Watkins, Hojlund, Solanke, Joao Pedro.
