Have I got onto something here? Without Haaland I’ve fit in 6 premiums. Is the depth enough?

    Henderson
    Trent Porro Andersen
    Salah Son Saka Hudson Odoi
    Watkins Isak Muniz

    Vald Myko Barco Winks

Decent, if you're set on going without Haaland, which I think is a bad move in general.

Haaland banging them in pre-season, hattrick last game. Not worried?

If 8 million in mid gets you circa 200 points (think martinelli / saka / odegaard seasons past)

How many points does Haaland need to score to equal that? How many goals per game is that?

        Think about it.

The way I see it is you pick players for short bursts, especially premium picks. Haaland is captain material in GW2. If he hits two goals he more than justifies his price.

The issue with him in my view is when they have a run of tough games, especially aways, where I won't captain him. At that point it makes more sense to me to downgrade to say Watkins, and put the money into other captaincy picks until his fixtures improve.

comparing players over the season is somewhat irrelevant..its owning that player at the right time.
So your 8mil a player scores 200 pts but scores 150 in a purple patch over a short period...how then?

          Think about it

Think I'm back on the draft without Salah + Haaland...

    Pickford
    Saliba, XXX, XXX
    Palmer, Foden/KDB, Ode, Gordon
    Watkins, Isak, Wood

    Virginia, Andreas, XXX, XXX

    A) Trent, 5.0, 4.0, 4.0
    B) Trent, 4.5, 4.5, 4.0
    C) Robertson, Gvardiol, 4.0, 4.0
    D) 4.5, 4.5, 4.5, 4.5 = 2M banked (Ode > Saka + 0.5 ITB an example of upgrades that could be made or Palmer to Salah with no CHE)

    Thoughts/feedback welcomed.

If dodging both you should have a stronger squad that can adapt to fixture changes, in my opinion. In particular a very strong defence where you don't have to play anyone, even a premium, in a poor fixture.

      1. Zenith UK
        • 9 Years
        1 year, 4 months ago

That squad would be able to adapt to fixture changes? That squad would also allow me to build up transfers for serious fixture swings so I'd be able to get off of certain players.

If we look at the defence of option B, would mean playing Trent, Saliba + one of the two 4.5s, so rotation there is covered and Andreas being a good bench option covers my 7/8 attacking choices. Only coverage I don't have is in goal, which I'm fine with.

        Any other specific recommendations?

I'm tempted to put Kevin Schade in my BB1WC2 team.
He didn't get much of a sniff last season but still managed 2 goals and an assist in only 330mins (3 starts).
He is nailed to start at home against Palace, which is a great fixture. £5.5m seems fair for a one week punt.

No (reluctantly) , need to spread the funds over 15 starting players that all have a chance of getting returns. I'm hoping Chelsea learn from preseason leakiness and go super tight at the back against Man City.
Triple Liverpool, Spurs and Newcastle (against newly promoted teams), and other players from Arsenal, Man Utd, NFO and Brentford.

Seems like Brentford have set Toney's asking price too high as it's been very quiet wrt transfer news. Long term injury to Thiago (Toney's replacement) doesn't help either. Reduces the Mbeumo FPL appeal.

Anyone else considering Haaland (c) for the opening fixture, even if they have the likes of Salah, Saka, Isak?

Chelsea seem absolutely incapable of preventing goals at the moment, and might be easier to score against than a newly-promoted team playing the low block defence.

Anyone else a bit disappointed with the site this pre season?

There seems to be less articles and of those that they produce more and more are members only.

I understand the right to monetise what they have built but at £50 it just prices out us casual players trying to get some bragging rights in our mini leagues.

I'm sure many will tell me to jog on but it just seems a shame that it has moved away from its community feel to just another way to milk people for money.

Most galling (galling!) to me is how for the purposes of Youtube videos, this community let alone paid subscribers may as well not exist. It's all about engaging with the people who show up, in the moment to watch the video - for free I might add. I understand it's about driving engagement and making more money, but if the community starts to feel like an afterthought they/we won't stick around.

It used to be that questions for the Scoutcast used to come from a hot topic. There is no reason not to continue this, except for the commitment to sacrificing the FFS community on the altar of growth. SAD!

I have noticed a drop off in article quality in recent years and a replacement with filler content from so-called Pro Pundits. In some cases - Simon March, Lateriser - they are interesting, thoughtful pieces, but in most cases they are just someone who likes FPL listing their squad. When I read team reveals I find myself thinking "who cares?"

Articles like Big Numbers, Say What?, Lineup Lessons etc all used to be very good. All of those have disappeared in favour of filler now.

      I agree, I am also frustrated by;

      - £3.29 monthly billed annually, the season ends in May, so why am I paying a 12 month subscription for a season that doesn't run for 12 months?
      - Features people have been requesting for a long time don't get implemented such as; Dark Mode, easier ways of changing avatar, private messaging feature
      - In ability of blocking certain posters troll comments
      - Lack of direction to areas kills debate/conversations, took me ages to realise hot-topics were on the right hand side, even now I often forget to check for that

There are loads. Nkunku no.1 for me, followed by Johnson/Kulu, Bailey, and Kudus if you're not out off by the fixtures. I'm not a fan of MGW but I can see the appeal there with him being 100% nailed and on pens

Would you pick Wood for gw1 and then swap to Muniz in gw2? Or just get Muniz from the start?

If you prefer Muniz just get him. United isn't even a tough fixture really

I am trying to make as close to a team which could be the template as possible after week 3 ( so no CHO ESR Bob Rogers Muniz Wood etc) and all top 6 who are undepriced and look like a team which will be obvious after a few weeks once certain players get minutes

Im here and like all the picks currently

I reckon Lewis will get lots of minutes this year ( Euro players back late, he can play many positions, Gvardiol overpriced and will play CB, Grealish back in LW so Gvardiol wont be as attacking, and city will rotate alot)

Jota to start with as he will play first few weeks and then reassess

Solanke at Spurs if its confirmed will be value

Nkunku and Rashford are very cheap and low risk

    Pope
    Hall Saliba Porro
    Saka Rashford Jota Nkunku
    Isak Haaland

      Pope
      Hall Saliba Porro
      Saka Rashford Jota Nkunku
      Isak Haaland Solanke

      4mil Lewis winks 4mil

Every year the players to target should have a number of the following qualities

      1.Tailsmen on set pieces
      2. Underpriced due to previous injury / rotation / lack of form / different manager
      3. Good fixtures
      4. No rotation , good minutes
      5. Good fixtures

Wood based on this just has good fixtures

Plus a Forest without Wood is a field.

Mateta is expected to be back on Wed 14th.

Palace vs Brentford is on Sunday 18th.

    Probably mins off the bench.

Any arsenal fans help me, currently on odegaard, but would prefer Saka, as he played any pre season?

My current prediction is yes. Just under 2 weeks of preseason and 2 friendlies before their 1st league game, should be ok to start imo

I can't see Arteta wanting to start the season without his strongest XI, which will include the likes of Saliba, Saka & Rice.

Can't win the season in GW1 but he can lose it if one of them picks up a long-term injury

Brentford have got a very good chance of going down this season - bubble's burst I reckon

They say that about Brentford every season though, yet here they are again

Which of the promoted teams do you think has the best chance of staying up?

I don't think they do really, wasn't long ago they were getting tipped to break into the Europe places. Will massively depend on whether they sell Toney or not, obviously, though the noise around him seems to have died down.

I think Ipswich could potentially stay up because I really rate McKenna.
