Fantasy Premier League (FPL) 2024/25 begins today – so it’s time to finalise our Gameweek 1 Scout Picks.

There’s plenty to consider, with Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur up against newly-promoted opposition.

Indeed, those fixtures play a significant part in how we assess the Fantasy landscape ahead of Gameweek 1.

As usual, our Scout Picks selection draws on the Scout Squad submissions made by Neale, Tom, Sam and Marc.

There are certain restrictions for our picks, however:

An £83.0m budget for our starting XI
An overall squad limit of £100.0m
No more than three players per team

GOALKEEPER

To kick us off, we have Nick Pope (£5.0m) in goal.

Nominated by two of our Scout Squad panel, the Newcastle shot-stopper gets his season underway at home to newly-promoted Southampton.

With the Magpies racking up eight home clean sheets in 2023/24, more than any other side except Everton, Pope has both the FPL pedigree and fixture to warrant investment.

Saliba v Gabriel

In the two years they’ve been together, they both have similar attacking returns, last year Saliba got 2G & 1A to Gabriel’s 3G & 1A but Saliba had superior bonus points.

The season before they both got 3 attacking returns each, why is one talked about for having more threat than the other?

Both are in the box for corners, it could drop to either of them.

Argh deadline day indecision. I thought I would be chilling with a locked in team today but here we are....

Trying to fix my Bobb & Haaland team that I was happy to lock in on Monday but now really wavering on.

The keep Haaland alternative is Saliba & Bobb ➡ Porro & Minteh (rotate with ESR). I definitely want to keep 8 attackers & not really sure about Bobb ➡ Rogers.

Saka has reallu tough 5 fixtures, he might have defensive duty, track back etc in matches like city spurs.

While salah has the best fixture of all season. And he has always started good.
Its salah > saka for me. After gw 5 i can go for saka

  Arsenal fixtures are not tough for an attacker. Defenders - yes, on paper, but they've proven they can keep cleansheets against anyone.
