So This is my wildcard draft. Is this too risky by Lateriser standards?

    Allison
    Lewis Dunk Digne
    Salah Palmer Eze Rogers
    Halland Havertz Pedro

    Fab Robinson winks Greavs

Should I ditch Palmer and beef up defence? But he is a nailed talisman without any midweek duty. Please share your thoughts.

little tip - get Van Den Berg for 4mil instead of Greaves.
      I prefer Adama to rogers

Rogers is on form, scored two last night also. Adama lacks end product IMO, lets keep him on watchlist. Also by when we can expect Van Den to break in to first team?

Do they? I’ve heard very much the opposite. Hard to say he’s nailed when he’s not started a match yet.

who cares... its a 4mil def at Brentford - more likely to get a clean sheet than greaves or Faes

Not if he’s not on the pitch. My understanding was that the more prevalent thought was he would play in a 3 in tough games and be benched in easier ones. I may well be wrong. But to suggest that there is a consensus he’s now nailed is misleading. Hickry injury may help his chances.

So who drops out between the in form Pinnock and Collins? Neither deserve to be dropped so I would be cautious about Van Den Berg until we actually see some starts for him

Bowen might play upfront in the final mins of the game when Antonio is subbed off, which is pretty good, like Pedro does in Brighton, or he even might start some games at CF with Summerville on the wing

      1. F4L

just think it lets Kudus play on the right where he's more used to playing, and them summerville can get a chance at lw to prove himself. antonio just doesnt provide enough upfront anymore imo

If Ode is out which seems very likely,
Should I bench Havertz over Rogers?
Bec probably Havertz starts at midfield

      • 10 Years

hoping arteta gives a hint in his press conference of how he plans to replace odegaard but unless he outright namechekcs Havertz in mid wouldn't bench. he can still do damage from mid, score from a set-piece last year and his assist was from the 10 position anyway catching spurs on the counter-attack, which i guess is how they'll approach the game this year again

      1. Shark Team
        • 8 Years

He can still go with Havertz up top
But the midfield three will consist of Jorginho Partey Zinchenko

        1. F4L
          • 10 Years
          1 year, 2 months ago

yeah there's options, he could put Timber in midfield. small chance Saka comes inside letting Sterling/Jesus play RW

Havertz has been so effective as a 9, I know Arteta tinkers but seems a waste to move him away from that position. And if Odegaard gets ruled out for months (ok big assumption) then would be better to look for a more long-term option in the midfield that isnt Havertz imo and try something different/give someone else a chance; for a stop gap 1 game you can play him there but no way is Jesus starting up top instead of Havertz for months on end, might as well just accept top 4 at that point

I love the fact that Rogers scored 2 for u21 - most people are for sure gonna buy him now:

He played left wing, which he doesnt play at villa
1 goal was a penalty, which he doesnt take at villa
He missed an easy 1 v 1 vs the austrian keeper
He also copied C. Palmer's celebration - shameless
Lastly its against an u21 Austrian team, not a premier league team of course he'll do better

Most people wont see my post but will see he scored, looking forward to the disappointment from all that invest

its so obvious thats its England player bias - the same is with ESR vs Adama or Wilson vs Isak the same is happening with Rogers vs Onana.

People subconsciously favouring the english player (Adama/Isak/Onana all a lot more established in the league and a lot more likely to start yet not considered)

Unfortunately everyone can be classed as copying as the team selections are quite obvious at the moment. I like to think noone actually copies other teams as wheres the fun but is obviously the downside vs draft. Anyone different in your team?

      1. Yozzer
        • 8 Years

Yeah feels like the inevitable template is back. Fortunately I started with all the big hitters so flying at the moment. Very lucky as I've only had to make 1 transfer too.

Saying that I saw the first gw pod and thought it was strange they both had the exact same non template team. Every transfer he made was same as the other guy. It does feel in this case there is some like for like copying going on. I wonder if he's lost confidence in himself after a few not so good seasons? We will never know

I'll be interested to see if they wildcard at the same time into the same team again

They've had the same team every week and have made the same transfers every week. No way that happens with independent thinking - if you had 500 competent FPL managers making their own decisions that wouldn't happen to any two of them.

Good fixture run, saves some cash for a player who you’d think gets similar mins

If Pedro doesn’t feature at all tonight for Brazil then there’s a high chance he starts so I prefer him, but if he plays then Isak will surely have more XMins this gw

Its still a very tight turnaround for JP before Saturday even if he doesn't get any minutes. Flight home from Paraguay, jet lag etc chance he doesn't train until Friday if at all. We might get some answers from the pressers so I'd probably wait and see. I can see a scenario where he doesn't start and they give Rutter a chance in the 10 and see if they need JP off the bench.

One of which was a pen but yes not bad cause he didn’t score any so far this season. I think he will get at least one goal in next 3 fixtures

I believe Odegaard’s injury helps us non-Salah owners to stick to Haaland captain vs ARS(H)
I know he isn’t a defender but surely ARS lose much of ball control without him and they will have to defend more imo which isn’t the best thing when you face ManCity

A team I expect to start ticking after the break is Palace
    Henderson
    Chalobah Guehi Lacroix
    Munoz Wharton Doucoure Mitchell
    Kamada Mateta/Nketiah Eze

They will have 3 good CBs, clean sheets will come soon for Henderson owners.

Palace fans are just relieved the transfer Window has closed.

Olise RC ended on June 30th, but the clause was met by Bayern Munich. They paid up front. Two delays were BM wanted to pay an extra 2.5m upfront instead of the 15% sell-on-profit clause, that Olise always demands in his RC, as a thank you to bring a lower fee, higher (and Olise's medical).

Palace hasn't signed a right-sided proper no.10, but Kamada, Sarr, and Nketiah.

Guehi wasn't worried about leaving as he wanted to join a CL club ( only Liverpool showed interest). He would have moved to Newcastle, but probably would have wanted a RC to a CL club anyway, so it's not the fact that Newcastle didn't appeal, but there isnt a huge upside, for someone, who has been in South London most of his life. Yes he is one game away from a career ending injury, but it will be another January wait and see.

We strengthen to two players to two positions except for a LWB.

Threfore I expect Palace to experiment (maybe not straight away), a Mateta/Nketiah front two with Eze roaming behind, and the rest of the system unchanged. Wharton no.8/Doucoure no.6 but not fixed.
They will have to work on Glasner press.

Mateta has been very tired after olympics, not unfit, so the goals from Palace will come. Maxence Lacroix was always the Anderson replacement (Sold at a 10m profit, as he wanted a wage increase to 110k a week from 60k, which Fulham were prepared to give him until 33. Chabolah is an extra bonus, and Richard is there. Lerma/Hughes back up for CM.

We would have beaten Brentford IMO had EZe free kick gone in, as Brentford hadn't had a kick until that point, then scored when our heads went down 2 minutes later.

West Ham was a bit poo, and was lucky in the first half against Chelsea they only scored 1, but they were much flatter 2nd half.

I have a better feeling when they have two weeks training to work out 2 systems Kamada/Sarr as a right sided no.10 and/or Nketiah and Mateta upfront.

I even bought Mateta from Isak this week to do the Saka to Salah move, and will WC 6 probably but maybe later. ( I was going to do ESR to Diaz, but I was a little more worried with minutes coming back from Columbia and two game.

I moved early as if I had an injury crisis. I can hit the WC and sort it out later. That would be a Salah/Palmer/Eze/Mbuemo/Semenyo midfield.

Mboumo and Eze are nailed. I am giving Jota 2 more GW's

It may not happen this week,

Marks out of 10 for my UCL Fantasy draft?

    Courtois
    Gvardiol, Lewis, Hakimi, Beraldo
    Salah, Yama, Ruiz, Rice
    Haaland, Mbappe

    Kobel, Saliba, Boniface, stepanenko

Very different from mine (only 3/15 shared) but looks solid - hopefully a sign that the revised format will produce greater diversity in selections. Maybe looks a bit ghost-y if anything (do you have a chip plan yet?) but I guess that's ok with the longer group stage

Whats the thinking on double PSG defence? Arsenal, Atleti, Bayern, City in their fixtures would put me off. I have also Beraldo as an enabler, but I'd be looking to cover Bayern over double PSG. Alternatively Cubarsi as the cheap enabler?

Gvardiol tends to be benched in easy CL games - unused sub vs Red Star (twice) and Young Boys in last year's groups.

Your GKs play on the same day MD3 and MD4, could do with a better rotating pair to save a transfer.
