I’ve got 0.8 to improve this wildcard team. Any thoughts?:

    Flekken
    Konate / Gabriel / Lewis
    Saka / McNeil / Rodgers / Palmer
    Haaland / Watkins / N.Jackson

    Bench: Slicker, Greaves, Harwood, Winks

    Solanke over Jackson?

If having Lewis you’ll want a stronger 4th defender to rotate in when Lewis doesn’t play

I don't know about you guys but there are certain players i just don't want no matter how cheap they are or their good fixtures. DCL and Wood is one of them. Even as an 8th attacker. You just know for a fact they won't do well in the long run its just a bit pointless. I'd rather have Gvardiol and play 442 than have those guys

It's definitely a fact. Wood scoring goals last season is just your opinion. I have to go now, the Martians are at the door.

Wood has a decent track record and is decent value 6.2.
Am going big in attack so not for me but wouldn't write him off.
I do consider Duran, Solanke, DCL and Isak as no good long term. A lot of people disagreed about Isak but I think the season will prove me wrong.
      Value has a huge impact.
Wood started the season at 6.0m and Isak at 8.5m.
If their prices were reversed I'd have different opinions.

Maddison v Johnson v Kulusevski will be an interesting dilemma for folks looking at Spurs attackers outside of Son and Solanke.

    Maddison 7.5m
    - 0.35 xG/90
    - 0.55 xA/90
    - 0.90 xGI/90
    - highest expected goal involvement
    - on most set pieces so more routes to points
    - Tends to be subbed off early
    - more expensive +1m

    Johnson 6.4m
    - 0.51 xG/90
    - 0.1 xA/90
    - 0.16 xGI/90
    - Highest expected goals
    - Prone to early subs
    - first choice RW due to injuries

    Kulusevski 6.2m
    - 0.22 xG/90
    - 0.21 xA/90
    - 0.43 xGI/90
    - 90 mins last 4 games

Best option to finance getting Haaland?

    A) Jota -> 6.5m (Gundogan / B Johnson)
    B) Trent -> 6.0m (Gvardiol)

Rogers over DCL a right call if fit?
    (c) will be between Haaland, Mbeumo, Havertz and Saka - really tempted by one of the Arsenal guys, Haaland going off the boil a bit?

I know they've got nice fixtures, but City have conceded in every match since the opening game, and their odds of clean sheets took a hit with Rodri's injury. Gvardiol's an attractive proposition for attacking returns, but I don't fancy the clean sheet prospects.

That said, Salah>Palmer I agree with. Last year was basically his first season, and he smashed it, and it looks like he'll deliver even more points this season. I don't think there's a more essential player in the game, including Haaland.

Thanks gents. Exactly as I see it, Palmer is a must have. If you go Haaland/Salah I think you go Watkins or Diaz alongside as I've started with Haaland/Salah/Saka and it's just too constricting for moves. That 2.0m goes a fair way.

I think with Collins there's the threat of van den Berg taking his place, as they're both right-sided centre-halves. Pinnock doesn't really have that from Mee, who is very much a back-up now. Pinnock historically carries more of a goal threat from set plays, too, although Collins is keeping pace with him this season for shots.

    Foden worth it Y/N?

    A. Foden, Robertson & VDV

Tottenham should be top of the table, interesting take...

If you apply that logic, Liverpool should be 6/6

Arsenal could have beaten Brighton and/or City if it weren't for red cards

Even if Spurs won 5/6 they could be behind Liverpool on goal difference.

As seen on twitter, I pose you, dear FFS community, the following question:

What (achievable) rule would you bring in to change football?

    I'll go first.

Penalties have to be appealed for just like wickets in cricket. Any player on the attacking team may appeal, and this might be necessary (for example, if the fouled player has been knocked unconscious). No penalty may be awarded without an appeal

However, no booking may be issued for a dive unless there is an appeal. What this means is, if a player just takes a tumble, or realises he has dived too blatantly, he can spare his blushes by not appealing. BUT, if anyone on his team appeals for him, and the ref thinks it's a dive, they run the risk of getting their teammate booked or even sent off. I reckon this would stamp out a lot of 'hopeful' penalty box tumbles, and help alleviate some of the mobbing of the referee which goes on these days.

      1. _Make

It's amazing how ineffective VAR has been, definitely. It seems to intervene too often and make decisions on fine margins the ref could never have been able to work out - which is against the spirit of it. I'm all for using it to reverse obvious, major mistakes.

Set halves to 30 mins and stop the clock every time the ball is out of play. Soon get rid of time wasting.

      1. _Make
        • 8 Years
        1 year, 2 months ago

I definitely think this would be effective. It seems almost perfect, though there is still a flaw: Teams who are desperate to waste time are usually off the ball and have to work harder. They could still abuse the 'ball out of play' rule to get their breath back and regroup. But yeah, I still think it would be an improvement.

People are so fixated on getting Palmers points from last week that they are ignoring what’s in front of their noses. He has NFO and Pool in the next two. Sure he is basically fixture proof, but is he gonna haul in either of those?
Better off going Foden who has awesome fixtures. Then transferring Saka>Palmer for Newcastle.

    1. Nightcrawler
      • 6 Years

At least Palmer starts. How is going foden a better idea. Good fixtures are irrelevant if he won't start

As for Palmer he is a season keeper so earlier u buy the more money u save. Plus he can easily get double digits Vs Forrest

He started last night and got subbed at 70 something mins. Doesn’t make much sense for him not to start. He is trying to gain match fitness, you increase his minutes to do that, you don’t randomly bench him again and delay it further.

            1. Nightcrawler
              • 6 Years

He started last midweek too then got benched. Even if he starts this week there is no guarantee he starts right after int break. They have savinho too now pep has the tendency to bench anyone not named Haaland. Almost limited mins when he starts

For 9.2 I'd want my pick to at least be nailed on and getting 80+ mins every week

Well opinions are opinions. I have laid mine out and you yours.
Time shall tell who is right.

Why are people so fixated on what others are doing. Focus on your own game

I'm going with foden because I've had him since gameweek 1 and he has lost me 0.3mil and I'm just stubborn.

      Might even captain him

1 FT and 2.7m ITB. Really not keen on holding Henderson over the next few but also want to get in on Arsenal attacking returns. No viable route to Saka and so:

    A - Henderson & Eze > Raya & Trossard for -4
    B - Eze & Mateta > Trossard & Havertz for -4
    C - Other suggestion?

    Henderson
    Gabriel - Konsa - Robinson
    Eze - Diaz - Palmer - Mbuemo
    Haaland - Mateta - Wood

    Valdi - Winks - Myko - Mosquero

Closing in on my final WC team, how is this?

    Raya
    Saliba, Lewis, Mykolenko
    Palmer, Mbeumo, Kulu, Rogers
    Watkins, Havertz, Haaland

    4.0, McNeil, Greaves, Faes

Not a bad pick imo, Everton have tightened up now with Brainthwaite back, there will be cleanies

Maybe drop a Kulu or McNeil to improve a defender or two
