    Hello I have 2 FTs.

    Where should I go between?
Option 1: DCL -> Welbeck (save a FT)
    Option 2: DCL/Lewis -> Wood/Hall

    Thanks!

My constraints in case you are wondering:
-I cant go to Wissa because 3 Brentford
-I cant get to Cunha because of budget and I already have Strand
-I like Jimenez less than Welbeck

Does anybody know the ins and outs of the stats tables on this site? I was looking at big chances created and big chances conceded team data and you would think unless I've misunderstood the data there shouldn't be a discrepancy between the two combined totals for the whole league but they are nearly 100 apart. The only thing I can think is perhaps it doesn't include big chances conceded by a defensive error as being 'created' by the opposing attack but I'm not sure as bad as defences have been this season that would allow for nearly 100 big chances.

Hi Derbz87 (thanks for the heads up The Mentaculus),

      They will be different, yes.

A big chance is any shot (goal, save, post, miss) that is deemed a "big chance" by Opta.

Big chances conceded are all the shots conceded by a team that were flagged as big chances, pretty straightforward.

Big chances created is a subset of chances created. There are lots of shots in football that are not the result of a pass, like rebounds, defensive errors (as you mentioned), a heavily deflected pass or cross, and, perhaps most obviously, penalties.

A couple of examples which were both big chances conceded but not big chances created:

Morgan Rogers' goal v Spurs last weekend, a big chance but no assist/chance created https://youtu.be/Jdo1z6EPu0g?feature=shared&t=70

Cameron Archer's goal v Leicester, a big chance but no assist
https://youtu.be/dy2nF-h1Mlg?feature=shared&t=59 In FPL Manning was awarded an assist, but it was a Fantasy assist only and not an Opta assist. For Opta, the pass counted as a "a heavily deflected pass or cross", therefore no assist, no chance created, no big chance created.

So, yes, defensive errors alone wouldn't make that big a difference, but there are a few other reasons why.

I did a -8 last week and it paid off with a score of 63 so it can definitely be worth it.

In your case, it deepens the squad alot so think they are good moves as long as 100% comfortable with no haaland as he will inevitably get back to form at some point

      Devil's advocate version:

A striker who doesn't register a single shot in 3 games straight, the worst xG underperformer in the entire league, and a defender for a team that's conceded 27 in 10 and for whom it's a question of when he gets a 1-game suspension, not if.

      For -8.

Jackson is a great option for next week regardless of Havertz. You can go a week early if you have to but he is on 4 yellows so there's a risk of suspension at some point.

There seems so be a weird fixation with accumilating free transfers and missing out on points in the process I've noticed.

In 18yrs of playing this game not once have I gone more than 2 weeks without needing to make a necessary transfer.

Whether it's a fire in my team that needs putting out, a fixture swing or a player I feel I really need to get on. I very rarely have the luxury of even rolling one transfer.

Anybody who has 3 free transfers or more is either getting extremely lucky or not playing the game right. If you have free transfers and there are key transfers that need to be made then use them! I would rather have points than accumulated free transfers.

I agree, the fascination with rolling lots of FTs this season seems detrimental.

When I saw that rule change I just thought meh, it's highly unlikely to be something I will benefit from which is proving the case. Only once so far have I had the luxury of being able to roll even one transfer. It would actually be nice for once to be able to make a tactical transfer rather than having to use my free transfers to deal with injured players!

        1. Tommy Template
          • 11 Years

I think on this last point from the OP

Anybody who has 3 free transfers or more is either getting extremely lucky or not playing the game right. If you have free transfers and there are key transfers that need to be made then use them! I would rather have points than accumulated free transfers.

We can't say for certain yet that people doing that are not playing the game right as this is the first season its happened. It may turn out that less often and big (amount) is more optimal than little and often regards transfers.

I don't disagree about putting out fires as that is guaranteed more points for doing a transfer but I don't think fixture swings are that straightforward. We're talking maximum of 5 weeks without a transfer? That's a very short period of time regarding fixtures, particularly if you picked most of your team with 5 weeks in mind on the fixture front anyway. Targeting fixtures isn't certain to accumulate you points and if anything you might end up worse off, particularly when some of the decisions are very marginal ones like Salah vs Haaland this week.

    2. Esraj
      • 10 Years
      1 year, 28 days ago

Couldn't agree with you more. It's very difficult to accumulate 2 transfers most of the time, let alone 3 or 4. Even after a wildcard, when everything is supposed to be sorted out, I end up making a transfer the very next week.

    3. ebb2sparky
      • 15 Years

Perhaps your definition of a necessary transfer is different to others?

yeah i do kind of think your right, but I also put in a 4 point caveat.

Hits are necessary for a mini WC, but if injuries go smoothly.

The only mistake with FT's is not selling Havertz to Wissa too weeks ago, when on 3 , but he only came on for 25 minutes or so, so wasn't 100%, lost out 12 points?

I think it will be harder if you have played your WC (I had 2 FT's when playing it), and then got 4 and didn't another refresh using 3?

    FPL Draft question:

I'm looking at proposing a trade to a fellow drafter in my league:

Kulusevski & Fullkrug for Neto & Strand Larsen

My strikers are lacking and I'd like to get Strand Larsen in to guarantee some goals. Their run coming up is very solid and I think I could use his points.

Any advice would be great. Could be that he doesn't accept the trade, of course, but we will see.

    My team:

    Pope Travers
    TAA Gvardiol Lewis Tete Young
    Casemiro Rice Kulu Gundogan Jota
    Hirst Haaland Fullkrug

    Thanks!

I've sent a trade of Gvardiol and Fullkrug for Porro and Strand Larsen.
I don't downgrade my DF -too- much and get an attacker with better returns.

Tsimikas v Robbo... not worth the hassle

Arne Slot on rotating Robertson and Tsimikas. ‘Two very good full-backs. Both need games, it's a position where energy is needed. Multiple reasons why midfielders and full-backs are changed but that has a lot to do with the quality. I have two very good left full-backs. Let's see who starts on Saturday.’

      Son

Only concern around Son is his minutes. He clearly has the best fixture.

    Flekken Fabianski
    TAA Dalot Gabriel Faes Greaves
    Mbuemo Kulu Rogers Semenyo Salah
    Raul Wood Haaland

Already did Lewis > Dalot. 2 FT 1.9 ITB, any suggestion on what else I can do here?

    Gtg? Play Welbeck & Jiménez?

    Fabianski
    TAA - Gvardiol - Robinson
    Salah (C) - Palmer - Saka - Fernandes - Mbeumo
    Wood - Welbeck

    (Sanchez, Jiménez, Kerkez, THB)

How in the world did you afford that team?

I have almost the same expect Vardy instead of Wood, and Flekken.

Oh and I have Raul starting. He could easily score but I see why you benched him.

Tricky choice between Raul and Welbeck. Palace is a weak defense, but it's an away fixture and Raul was a let down on Monday, plus there is the risk of an early sub. City are also struggling defensively, Welbeck is in form and plays at home, but you'd expect City to strike back at some point.

    No spurs so thinking
Mc Neil and Vdv to Kulu and Burgess for free to give me
    Flekken
    Gabriel Gvardiol Ran
    Salah Palmer Kulu Rogers Mbueno
    Strand Larsen Haaland

    Archer Faes Burgess
    Good moves ?
Burgess only 3.9 player playing at minute.

I think Burgess might only be playing because Greaves is injured. He wasn't starting before the injury.

    Onana

    Ait-Nouri - Gvardiol - Young

    Bruno - Salah - Kulusevski - Foden

    Cunha - Isak - Solanke

Captain dilemma; Solanke is very short odds for a hattrick with the bookies but Bruno and Salah could both do well. Anyone have any captain recommendations?

I’m so tempted to captain Bruno, but it’s risky.

      I’ll probably go Salah.

      Bruno

Solanke worth the punt if you have him, clearly the best fixture.

    4. Tommy Template

Its probably Salah still. Solanke seems a bit feast or famine. Not sure how short very short is but Solanke has only scored a single career hat trick by the way.

    5. Captain Mal

Salah the safest and most reasonable, I wouldn't look anywhere else.

Villa played a day later than Pool and were away. Pool obliterated the Bundesliga champions from last season at home with an extra day’s rest now. Leaning towards Salah; only one other team has him in my mini league and the consensus in the league is fear of selling Haal, so there is massive upside to Salah. Villa seem to be collapsing the last few games and maybe struggling with the demands of the PL and CL. I essentially need to be convinced not to captain Salah I think. Thanks for the feedback!

Yeh seems sensible but Forests fixtures turn.
Delap could do something against Spurs defence.

Was hoping to wait a week on Delap then maybe look at Isak in that position.

Delap could easily score against Spurs, I would roll and have 2 transfers for the international break.

I have the worst bench I can remember in 18 years but no money to fix it. What do you think from the following options:
    1) Downgrade Gabriel
    2) Downgrade Mbeumo
    3) an extremely risky flekken to fabianski (other keeper doesn't play!) and Harwood bells to lewis hall
    4) Harwood bells and Faes to Lewis Hall and a 3.9 defender (would leave just one starting player on my bench but arguably Hall is better bench option than the other 2 combined
    5) Roll for 3ft next week and hope palmer plays

    Currently on 5

    1. Captain Mal

Could we see the full team?
Probably 5 though, I think Palmer will make it.

        Flekken, 4.0 non starter
        Gabriel, Lewis, RAN, Faes, HWB
        Salah, Palmer, Mbeumo, ESR, Rogers
        Haaland, Solanke, Stewart
        2FT 0.1ITB
I'm planning to sell solanke for jackson at some point in the future and happy to sell mbeumo in 3 weeks but not now.
