Reasoning was sound. Palmer had huge xGI and the team scored 5 vs Southampton.

This is the key thing to remember when a choice of two captains don't do as well as you'd hoped, as long as you own both then the difference is only half. The real killer is when you don't own the player that hauls and your playing doesn't haul, but that's pretty rare for large scoring players with large ownerships as the template will include them so most own them anyway

prior to the gameweek my thought process was Salah will have more minutes for sure therefore more likely to get points - palmer was always going to be pulled off early as he doesnt play midweek.

In the end I went with Palmer simply because I would be watching the game with Chelsea fans and wanted to have a bit of banter, but in the end they had captained Salah haha (unloyal bunch) so they got the last laugh XD

Captaining Palmer was fine, just this is the purplest purple patch ever by Salah in terms of fantasy points. By the time I adjust and perma-captain him like its 2021 again, he'll probably be cursed by a Zambian witch doctor and blank five running.

looking at kdb as well. his impact when on the pitch this season has been incredible, shots, chances created everything amazing

just the injury, city have been vague about what it is. being in training for weeks, almost a month and not starting is not a great sign. the risk doesnt seem worth it, not at this time of the season. second half of the season think he'll be a great option January onwards once he's fully got over whatever is restricting his playing time atm

It was a shot that rebounded to Mangala so is an assist. Rogers crosses it to Watkins but it's deflected significantly to Cash so no assist. Bit like Wissa's 1-2 with Mbeumo deflected backwards to Schade on Saturday.

I don't think it was a bad decision, your comment is confusing the outcome with the decision making process

Isak was an injury doubt, team unperforming, against one of the best defences in the league.

How does Mykolenko get given his assist but Rogers didn’t?? Atleast the flick on from the Rogers cross the ball stayed pretty much in the same line, the Mykolenko one was a shot at goal which the defender cut out and direct the ball back
Towards the edge of the penalty area.

      1. SalahFingers

Semenyo really isn't a great pick. People are only picking him because he's got good fixtures, but forget that he's scored 4 goals in 12 games... or a different way to nit pick the data is that he's scored over 2 points only twice in the past 9 games.

I'd rather Amad or Enzo at that price range. At least they are on decent form right now.

        1. David Parkinson

and to be fair... the 6-8mil mids are all kinda not doing much these days.

There's a few cheapo mids doing decently... Rogers, Amad, Enzo, etc

and of course everyone probably has all the premiums by now... Salah, Saka, Palmer... I am maybe looking at Johnson or Rashford.

No clear cut alternatives and that’s the main reason I’m still keeping mbeumo

Agreed, and that's why it makes sense to just keep Mbeumo for the moment. He has southampton again on 4th Jan, so maybe he'll get another 2 if we can hold out till then

I think I'll appreciate the extra transfer later. Thanks.

I was thinking of those guys and I'll probably end up with one of them because Mbeumo is just not doing anything anymore.

My thinking was this order.... Johnson > Rashford > Bowen > Mitoma.

I could get another of those cheap mids and get TAA or someone in defense.

I was also looking at Gordon. Good fixtures and he actually seems to remember how to play now.

Got a question for everyone. Do you think too many people worry about green arrows and setting rank targets? I think it actually hinders you. For example the only target I've set this season is 1st place. Win the whole game. Don't pay attention to effective ownership ever. Live rank is 84k with Semenyo to go. Just play your own FPL

62 points a GW average outside of DGWs and chip GWs. im quite abit under that this season already sadly, but do it and should be top 50k guaranteed, in around 10-30k at least. dont really care about players who i dont own getting points, its annoying but not affecting my target really. makes the game feel less frustrating and lessens the want to take hit(s), silly use of FTs etc for the latest hotshot asset whose points ive likely missed anyways.

This is a great question, despite some of the critical replies.

I definitely think people focus too much on outcome than process, and it muddles thinking for sure.

Especially when variance/luck is such an enormous factor.

Why would you target green arrows week to week - is that really the best way to maximise season points? Similarly EO is the most overrated thing to consider ever - pick the players that you think score the most point and it takes care of itself, yeah?

I've come 25th once 4 years ago, was quite casual as the season started and after a decent start got pretty serious and rank kept climbing and climbing.

Since then 121k, 19k, 59k. There were some dodgy calls in the 121k because I became fixated on the outcome. The last 2 years I reckon is just variance compared to the 25th. That's how little control I feel people actually have on the result..

I think he's just playing a more advanced role, not a fluke. Whether he stays there or not is another question. But for that price, does I matter?

depends if lavia/caicedo double pivot is used. with enzo in there and only lavia/caicedo they seem abit more vulnerable.

dont think the returns are flukey though, he has decent stats to back them up and is definitely getting in and around the box atm

I had a pretty tight budget, so options were pretty limited. Came across this quote from manager:

Maresca said: "I'm trying to convince Enzo in the same way as I did last year with (Wilfred) Ndidi and Kiernan (Dewsbury-Hall) that attacking midfielders need to arrive in the box. The reason why he scored today was because he was inside the box and if he was outside of the box, he wouldn't have scored the goal. We are happy in the way Enzo is doing."

This was enough to take the risk for next few GWs. Can switch to Amad later.

It’s a decent idea and he is an attractive option now. Having Salah Saka and Palmer, alongside Rogers and Enzo for example, can leave a lot of wiggle room to have an even greater defence and forward line (that is if going without Haaland like myself of course)

      I’m tempted.

I'd be wary, you may want Jackson, Palmer and a def/gk. I wouldn't block a spot for him when others can do a similar job around 5m.

Bruno and RAN to TAA and Bowen/Mitoma with a -4?

      I’m a fan, I am debating whether Lewis + Mbeumo > TAA + Mitoma/Gordon/Enzo is worth a -4

Yea think Mbeumo and Lewis are good to go.
TAA is a definite buy but then the mid is trickier.
West ham are terrible but Bowen was unlucky not to haul in last game by the sounds of it. Mitoma looks sharp again, maybe Pedro being back has helped free him up a little.

Same situation, leaning towards doing it. This season I think hits are worth it

Would just check you're comfortable riding the inevitable period where TAA has a run of no attacking returns and still is 7m of your budget

Yea there is that. But with no Haaland it's a lot easier to get away with.

I’ll be the first and hold my hands up haha!
Rogers subbing in for Jackson has softened the blow but still annoying

Feel for you man, yeah that does soften it for sure, but Isak's fixtures are banging now

Yeah that’s the annoying thing haha! I’m tempted to immediately correct the mistake and do Jackson back to Isak, but that Spurs defence…….

I'm a spurs fan he scored the shittest hat trick I've ever seen against us lmao. Maybe he does it again. Also I think Chelsea have two conference league fixtures in December so maybe he Nkunku only started cos it's midweek?

I can only hope, if I keep Jackson, which I think I have to now hehe.
Yeah perhaps, Jackson never started a midweek fixture, then again I think the YC and suspension played a role here and preserving him for Spurs.

6 big chances for Man City tonight, highest all season. Hopefully KDB being back can shake up the template a bit.

Yeah I would consider Palmer ➡️ KDB in 16 since I have Jackson

Would you rather own VVD or Gvardiol? Heard Gvard missed a couple big chances today. VVD feels safe, but perhaps Liverpool are just that much more likely to CS that he's the better buy

      VVD
      still prefer Trent to both.

Cheers, yes contemplating a back 4 of:

        Raya
        TAA, Gabriel, VVD/Gvard

    Raya
    RAN Gabriel* Davis
    Salah (C) saka Palmer mbeumo
    Isak Pedro Cunha
    Fabianski Gusto Burgess Soumare

    1FT, 0.9M ITB.
Looking to get Trent by 16 and don’t hate mbeumo’s fixture this week so I’ll probably roll…is that the right play?
Also, is the benching correct? Start gusto over Davis/RAN?

He's not a dud. Just a little out of form as is his team with tougher fixtures to come thats all.

I think you have it right. Also holding Boom, could get something at home although the eye-test/stats have been dire. Just not convinced by any replacements right now

Probably could wait for free but I get it. VVD's ceiling's usually 6, so TAA for me if you do it

    Who do I bin first?
    A) Mykolenko
    B) Lewis

I know Mykolenko has crap fixtures but at least he starts 90 and gets me points sometimes. Lewis is an annoyance

Small red arrows for the last bunch of GW's
2 points short of safety with JPedro and ARobinson to play
    Small victory ahead
