Been thinking quite a lot about BB22 v BB33 and I think I'm pretty set on 22 now. Generally I think it's not that difficult a week where you want to play your 8th attacker, so I think the key factor for me is finding the best set of fixtures for your 5 defenders, and I just don't see any that top the options for NFO/CRY/FUL/NEW in 22.

Assuming virtually everyone has 3x LIV/NEW in 33, those fixtures for Palace (BOU new) and Villa (LIV NEW) look really poor & I can't see much value in loading up on their defenders. It's also a week where you could easily bench your Forest defender (tot); ditto Everton/Fulham. Plus some the best fixtures from a defensive POV come for teams that I just wouldn't want to invest in - looking particularly at Southampton v West Ham here.

I'd also prefer to play my BB before WC2, in case I want to stretch the funds for Haaland/Saka, and don't really like holding the WC as late as 34.

I'm now aiming for this in 22:

    Sanchez (WOL) Sels (SOU)
TAA (bre) Gabriel (AVL) Milenkovic (SOU) Hall (BOU) Muñoz (whu)
Salah (bre) Palmer (WOL) Mbuemo (LIV) Amad (BHA) Sarr (whu)
Isak (BOU) Gakpo (bre) Wood (SOU)

I feel like the only downside is that spreading these funds in defence blocks me from Gordon. One 'conflict' in Mbeumo v TAA but I wouldn't bench either anyway.

Anyone feel like they've got a killer BB33 lineup planned or approaching this very differently?

It’s a good strategy which I never thought of. I also have Sels and Milenkovic so this could work for me too.
      I’d obvs upgrade Larsen:

      Sanchez
      Gabriel - Lewis - Castagne
      Salah - Palmer - Sarr - Gordon - Diaz
      Isak - Jackson

      Sels - Huijsen - Milenkovic - Larsen

Gw22 could be good for BB

Is it the fixture switch where lots of the more popular picks are at home in gw21 and many in gw22 too?

Some may be close to BB21 too.

With lots of players fit it's a good time to use BB and with value spread around the squad.

It will make the manager chip easier too.

Yeah this week isn't far off for a similar setup. Forest defenders v LIV being the main drawback

I feel like it's too soon to commit to BB in 22.

We've already seen unexpected doubles pop up. This lack of doubles in future weeks is why I decided to TC Haaland in GW9 so poorly.

There will be a clearer moment to plan our chips and align something with more doubles I think.

Hmm I haven't really been looking Crellin (or similar) BGW/DGW planners tbh; kind of assuming it's much simplified this season. Only other one I heard mentioned was Fulham v Spurs moving earlier rather than 33 but that game will have no influence on my BB thoughts. You reckon there'll be others?

I don't know about others but when we know the full picture I think it'll help with knowing which teams to target and end of season motivations as well.

I just think it's too soon and your proposed BB has Mbeumo vs Liverpool. You can definitely do better than that imo.

If you're playing Mbeumo anyway that shouldn't be the decisive factor.

For those with TC and the manager chip then that'll play into the Salah dgw and the next dgw too.

Benching headache if all my yellow flags get positive news

    Benching 1 of
    A. Munoz
    B. TAA
    C. Hall
    D. Timber

    Benching 1 of
    1. Semenyo
    2. Wissa
    3. Rodgers

I current have them ranked in the orders above but I’ve been switching it around a lot.

Or could bench boost (as well as 2 above benching Sels and Castagne)

    Appreciate all thoughts

      • 4 Years

I'd just bench Timber regardless of whatever woolly statement Arteta comes out with.

Would definitely start Wissa over the other 2, and probably Semenyo. I'm going to treat Everton (at Goodison esp.) roughly the same until I see what Moyes is trying to change.

Not far off a BB but don't like Timber doubt & Sels/Rogers fixtures that much

I think it’s mad to pick a wildcard team for one week like the scout selection is, and go Eze over Sarr this time. Leicester definitely much weaker on the Munoz/Sarr side.

    1. jayzico
      • 14 Years

It's not for one week though. It's the best players one can get for the rest of the season, while some of their (Haaland etc) prices are still relatively low. Plus we had 2 weeks to dabble.

Had to entertain myself somehow with no PL for 2 whole weeks.

      Perfect sense IMO.

The scout selection is a one week team and they’ve picked Eze over Sarr

For an actual team considering a longer outlook, I can see it, maybe. But personally reckon Sarr scores more points in the long run too

Leicester have arguably been worse down James Justin's flank though.

Most of the goals they have conceded this season stemmed from that side of the pitch.

Eze is on set pieces, too, which was another important factor.

Both good options this week though.

    1FT
    a) Iwobi > Eze which means benching Robinson vs Whu or Huijsen vs Che, currently playing both and benching Iwobi
    b) Save FT

    Muric/(Sels)
    Gabriel, Munoz, Huijsen, Robinson (Timber)
    ISarr, Palmer, Salah, Fernandes, (Iwobi)
    Jackson, Isak (Wissa)
