Unsure what point you're trying to make here... It's unwise to take content creators seriously, your poor concentration saved you from Captaining Palmer, or it stopped you from saving yourself by changing back to Salah?

Looking at next GW, what to do? Not going to FH in 29. Got 1.9 ITB and 1FT.

    Pickford
    TAA Robinson Mykolenko
    Palmer Salah Bowen Mbuemo
    Mateta Cunha Isak

    Fab Enzo Mazaroui VDB

    A) Enzo to Kluivert
    B) VDB to Gvordiol
    C) Roll FT
    D) Something else

I think my biggest complaint about the assistant manager chip is the table bonus.

The managers have different prices but the ones who will score the most points will be the likes of Glasner etc.

If we are going to keep AM, it should be more like players in that you pay for what you get. Slot costs more because Liverpool are more likely to win - maybe make the spread in prices greater.

It's like saying Mateta should get more points for his goal against Villa than Salah should for his goal against Villa.

If you have a spare 0.3m itb, Fab to Sa could be a good option. Sa to covers Pickford through 30-34, then Pickford decent run to the end.

Playing devil's advocate here... but there are probably people trying to climb with differential captains. Oh and there's the fact that it's fcing boring constantly captaining Salah.

Personally I can't wait until he leaves the PL.

Captaining Salah gives you maybe two hundred rank rise... not really anything that helps people that are 1.5m and lower. It's the opposite that's the issue.

Over the course of the season we make hundreds of decisions. Some will be good, others not. Even the good ones will have bad outcomes or bad ones good outcomes.
On this particular decision, most of the best managers historically went with Palmer. Don't know what their decision making process was, but I know that I'd rather be in the same boat with them long term when it comes to decisions, than some fools with 7 digit ranks victory lapping a player that hasn't played yet.
BTW have you mentioned Salah as clear captain choice prior to Palmer blank, or are you just another captain hindsight candidate?

I didn't follow any of the content creators' conversations in the build up to this week and I'm honestly shocked that they would have suggested Palmer captain. He's been dreadful for weeks.

The content creators are not the best managers historically.
Top 10 all time on Live FPL captained Palmer. 16 of the top 20 went with Palmer.
Analytics Elite 64 is considered one of the best leagues and all 64 captained Palmer.

Sounds like groupthink tbh and highlights the issue with the Analytics approach. No doubt over many weeks the stats pay off but it can lead to blind spots like this one.

Anyway, Salah hasn't played yet. Palmer could still end up with a higher score...

He's created loads of chances in the past couple months and was playing comfortably the worst team in the league - and surprise, they won 4-0 and he could easily have had a haul

I don't follow FPL creators at all, but this was clearly a good decision poor outcome case (I captained Fernandes so I don't care)

Palmer when he's on it would have absolutely hauled in that game. If you'd watched Chelsea recently you'd know he hasn't impacted games very much

With WC, BB, FH still available, is there any chance of setting up a viable team where you could BB in one of the big doubles and FH in the other whilst still traversing blank 34?

I guess you could FH 33, use free transfers for 34, WC 35, BB 36?

    1. Conners
      • 6 Years

It could be potentially very difficult to navigate 34 with FTs.

Also seems a sub-optimal use of transfers, especially that late in the season.

I know it's early days, but how do you see your forward line post GW30?
Considering Mateta and Isak have a double in 32, that leaves room for just one of Cunha/Wood/Haaland/Marmoush/Watkins etc.

    1. Ajax Hamsterdam

    2. Conners

Depends on where the remaining doubles fall and the teams involved.

I'm not really interested in Haaland or Watkins as I'll be looking to build a BB squad and they don't represent good value.

Most likely one of Cunha, Wood or Marmoush.

I'm not sure that Mateta is a lock for me given the fixtures. Even they got back-to-back DGWs, mci new BOU ars might not compare that favourably to e.g. TOT mun LEI in the same timeframe for Cunha, or a City DGW that's preceded by LEI mun. Hard to say at the moment beyond Isak, but I think if Haaland is fit it'll probably be those 2 + 1

At the moment you have a 341 for GW29, right? So with 2 FTs needed field 11, you could get one of Mateta/Muñoz for next week and still save FH for 34. I think overall your team for 29 looks too good to commit yourself to FH

      1. The Mentaculus
        • 4 Years

If it look like Gakpo will be rested for SOU given UCL mins, I'd probably do Gakpo ➡ Mateta (28) ➡ Cunha (29). Muñoz would be nice but Hall & Trent have such good fixtures in 28 that a defender transfer would seem more sideways (unless Bradley is fit to relieve TAA)

His team won 4-0 and he didn't exactly play the worst game ever, and its not as if he's let anyone down apart from fantasy managers (me included)!

Confused about when to play my chips.. Have WC, FH, AM left

I can get to 11 players without playing a FH but then I'd have a dilemma between FH and AM in the doubles?

    What's people's thoughts/plans?

  17. Conners

If you've 11 for 29, then FH in 34 is probably your best option.

You could then WC in 31 to load up on DGW players and play AM 32 - 34 on Howe.

Just my suggestion, but you could also save AM and target table bonus fixtures later instead.
