Matheus Cunha (£6.8m) made his eagerly anticipated return from suspension on Sunday, as Wolverhampton Wanderers recorded a fourth straight Premier League win.

Liverpool, meanwhile, moved a step closer to the Premier League title with a dramatic 2-1 victory over West Ham United.

Here are the main Fantasy Premier League (FPL) talking points from Molineux and Anfield.

CUNHA RETURNS

Matheus Cunha scored on his return from suspension at Molineux.

The Brazilian, who served a four-match ban for the red card he received in the FA Cup defeat to Bournemouth, climbed off the bench in the 70th minute and marked the occasion with a goal, robbing Lucas Bergvall (£4.4m) of possession before slotting home.

There has been a lot of noise about Cunha off the pitch recently, but his quality on the ball isn’t in question.

Indeed, he’s now produced 14 goals and four assists in just 24 starts this season.

“He knows his quality, he knows the team was playing good games and winning [without him], in the right moment that we need him he said ‘yes I am here to help the team’.” – Vitor Pereira on Matheus Cunha

Cunha also banked more bonus points yet again. Even though he has made just 24 starts, Chris Wood (£6.9m) is the only forward who has more bonus points to their name in 2024/25.

On Sunday, Cunha earned 38 points for his positive actions in the BPS, thanks in part to two key passes, three successful dribbles and three ball recoveries.

Towering forward Jorgen Strand Larsen (£5.4m) also impressed, registering four shots and two big chances, and has now found the net in four consecutive Premier League games, a period which has seen him average 8.5 points per match.

IN-FORM WOLVES/SON INJURY UPDATE

Sunday’s clash at Molineux highlighted two teams on opposite trajectories.

Vitor Pereira has won 26 points since taking over at Wolves in Gameweek 17, winning eight of his 16 Premier League games in charge.

With a talented squad at his disposal, including Emmanuel Agbadou (£4.0m), Rayan Ait-Nouri (£4.8m), who scored and assisted on Sunday, Joao Gomes (£4.9m) and Strand Larsen, plus consistency in his selection, it’s exciting to think what Pereira could potentially achieve with a full pre-season under his belt.

Before then, Wolves host strugglers Leicester City in Gameweek 34, with Free Hit usage set to see a spike in their assets’ popularity.

As for Tottenham, it’s all a bit of a mess.

They scored through Mathys Tel (£5.8m), who was a rare bright spark from his left wing position, and substitute Richarlison (£6.8m), but it was an error-strewn display, with Spurs’ focus seemingly on the UEFA Europa League, which remains their only hope of success this season.

The club sits a lowly 15th in the Premier League, while only the current bottom three – Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich Town – have lost more games in 2024/25 (17).

On the injury front, Dejan Kulusevski (£6.2m) did at least return as a substitute in Gameweek 32 and should now get further minutes in Frankfurt on Thursday.

Ange Postecoglou also discussed Son Heung-min (£9.8m) and Wilson Odobert (£5.3m) in his post-match interview, who missed out in Gameweek 32.

“It was good for Deki, Richarlison and Matty Tel to get minutes. That will be important on Thursday night, for sure. It was really good to get decent minutes into them and they all felt really good.

“Sonny got a knock and no point in him travelling today and with Wilson, as I said before, I was just managing him, but the whole idea was hopefully managing him so he can be right for Thursday night.” – Ange Postecoglou

LIVERPOOL EDGE CLOSER TO TITLE

Virgil van Dijk (£6.5m) headed home a late winner as Liverpool edged closer to the Premier League title on Sunday.

The Reds are now 13 points clear of Arsenal with six games remaining, meaning they could be crowned champions as early as next weekend.

At Anfield, it wasn’t a vintage performance from Arne Slot’s side, but they still got the job done.

In his first match since he signed a new two-year contract, Mohamed Salah (£13.8m) produced a superb assist for Luis Diaz’s (£7.5m) opener, with a beautifully weighted pass with the outside of his left boot.

The Egyptian failed to get on the scoresheet (he’s now gone five league games without a goal from open play), but instead, his creativity came to the fore, with two big chances created.

Diaz, meanwhile, ended this clash through the middle and has now produced either a goal or assist in each of his last five matches:

As for Darwin Nunez (£7.0m), he missed out after feeling unwell on Saturday.

ALISSON + BRADLEY IMPRESS

Arne Slot made four alterations to his starting XI, with Alisson Becker (£5.5m) and Conor Bradley (£4.7m) among those recalled.

Both players impressed, with the return of Alisson particularly key, as the Brazilian made some big saves to deny Carlos Soler (£5.0m) and Jarrod Bowen (£7.5m).

“We needed Alisson because Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus were incredible, the whole game but especially in the second half. Scoring immediately shows you how much mentality these boys have.

“Second half they made it much more difficult for us because they brought so many players into the midfield. Kudus started to run everywhere and he was almost uncontrollable for us and that led to chances because they also have Jarrod Bowen – a player that can run in behind. That made it really hard for us but Alisson saved for us multiple times.” – Arne Slot

Bradley also deserves credit.

This was the right-back’s first start since Gameweek 24, but he looked at ease throughout, making several dangerous underlapping runs, crucially creating space for Salah.

Understandably withdrawn on 67 minutes as he continues to be managed on his return from injury, Bradley even banked four clean sheet points and scooped the maximum bonus, having departed well before Liverpool conceded.

Next up – a trip to Leicester.

West Ham also face promoted opposition in Gameweek 33 in the form of Southampton.

They improved after going behind at Anfield and actually created four big chances in total, two more than Liverpool, with Mohammed Kudus’ (£6.2m) curling effort hitting the bar.

At the other end of the pitch, Alphonse Areola (£4.2m) made four saves and generally performed well, suggesting he should get another start in Gameweek 33, despite some recent iffy form.

“We are disappointed not to get anything from the game but the performance is probably the strongest we’ve had since we’ve been here. We’ve given a top team, the best team, a real game today.” – Graham Potter

It depends what you want from your forward.
Watkins is great and relentless at working for the team, it shouldn’t be unnoticed.

      Isak has more footballing magic.

Morning lads. Who would you rather keep for BB33 and beyond?

    A) Kerkez
    B) Livramento

The other will become Conor Bradley.

Depends which one has better fixtures when you'll have to start him.
This week is pretty close. Bournemouth defender more differential if chasing.

Best fh team for this gameweek?
    I'm thinking
    Raya,

    Salah, kdb, eze, saka, rashford,
    Marmoush, mateta.

Ye decent, I am close with my current team, thinking Savinho out to Rashford maybe, see how UCL goes.

Depending on if you're chasing mini league or not, could go differentials instead of Saka who may not start ips(A) and Gvardiol (dont see Citeh CS).

    Watkins on the next pen?

Asked if he is aware how close he is to breaking Agbonlahor’s record, Watkins replied: “Yeah, of course I am. That is why I wanted to take the penalty as well. To equal it and one more to get the record. I am two goals off now. Two more to beat it.

“I am thinking of breaking it. I will do it at some point and I'm looking forward to that day.”

Yeah, unsure on Watkins, Rashford starting ahead of him against Southampton didn't help after limited mins against PSG.

Currently got him around 90 mins for both games.

You reckon there’s still an ongoing injury and Emery is being cautious or Rashford is better suited for some games?

I’d planned to do Isak > Watkins until I saw he was benched against Southampton. Now tempted to just keep Isak

He's been manging a knee issue before the last IB. He starts against Forest 61 mins then sub apps against PSG and Southampton. I expected him to start against Southampton but not sure if that shows Rashford is the preferred CF based on form or Emery has an eye on starting both Rashford/Watkins in the 2nd leg due to 3-1 scoreline or he is still managing the injury. Initial thoughts on the benching is not injury related.

            1. Tonyawesome69

I know players don't like to be on the bench but the quote from Watkins suggests he is ready to start and the benching is potentially down to opponents /tactical/form

"I think this is definitely, probably the best Villa squad there is in terms of depth and quality,” Watkins admitted. “A bit of a headache for the manager. With a fully-fit squad, Ross Barkley, an unbelievable player, missing out. So, it shows the depth that we have got.

For me, I’m not happy to sit on the bench. It's disappointing every game that I am on the bench but it is the manager’s decision at the end of the day.

All you can do when you come on the pitch is to try to make an impact and then go from there. We all did that today."

'm trying to find long term outlooks that could help make my decision on transfers this week.

It's looking likely that the FA Cup finalists will double in 36 and blank in 37.

That means that these teams could double in 36 and blank in 37.
    One of these two teams:
    NFO - LEI whu*
    MCY - sou BOU*
    --
    One of these two teams:
    CPL - tot WOL*
    AVL - bou TOT*

The starred teams are the ones that are out of the cup but would also get a double. Most of us don't have too many of the starred ones. But probably 5 or 6 from the doubling teams in 33.

Assuming FH34 after using all FTs in 33, you'd have 3 transfers in 35, 36 and 37 which doesn't seem nearly enough to field a strong team of doublers in 36 and also still manage to field XI in 37 without hits.

Couple that with Arsenal being popular and who play Liverpool in GW37, and it appears we'd be severely handicapping ourselves if we make choices that are too short sighted now/burn too many FTs on luxury moves to chase a big GW33.

What does that mean for transfers this week?

I'd probably look to own at least one player from each semi finalist. Save FTs on luxury moves if possible and then work on a strategy for whichever semi finalist you see making it through to the final.

Said that, I last minute switched from getting Bradley to Milenkovic and lost 7 points, mainly focusing on until the end of season landscape...What the recent weeks taught me, I should have attacked the immediate fixtures more, or maybe my issue is that I can never be right lol

I'm very likely to do that. Sell just Murphy and keep Livramento on BB33.

I'm considering making two luxury transfers (3rd City and Villa in for 12 DGW) but its being done with DGW36 as well as GW33 BB in mind. As long as Forest don't beat City I will have 6 potential DGW36ers (4 if they do), and three FTs to get 11 and a sub for BGW37 (or 5 and no sub if Forest win). The question is are any other City or Villa players worth it when you already have Gvardiol, Marmoosh, Rogers, & Konsa?

      It's Arsenal v Newcastle in 37.

I've got myself in a weird position through slacking off / lack of planning since the last break, where I'm halfway between FH33/4, and kind of tempted to go for Diaz over Rogers this week anyway which would mean I don't really need to FH either and could save it for 37. But with ARS v NEW, title wrapped up, EVE v SOU and LEI v IPS, FH37 doesn't really look all that appealing to me. Might just punt it off for fun on the final day although that's probably not a strategy I'd generally recommend

A FH36 looks potentially amazing actually. You'd gain more fixtures from that then pretty much any other chip line imo.

Because you'd have 4 teams with doubles, you could get a like 10 doublers whereas most people would only probably be on 5 or so if they have a standard loadout from a FH34 strategy.

I'll have a think about that. Definitely up for a differential strategy and just have Marmoush, Gvardiol & Asensio at the moment (plus Sels, Sarr, Mateta for the other track, but might sell Sarr for Diaz)

What to do here. 1 ft and £1.2m

    Henderson*
    Konsa* Gvardiol* Livramento
    Rogers* Salah Palmer Mbeumo
    Marmoush* Mateta* Isak

    Pickford Elanga Huijsen Mykolenko

    Howe (AM)

    a) Palmer -> Saka for free
    b) Palmer & Howe -> Saka & Arteta -4
    c) Palmer, Mykolenko, Howe -> Saka, Kiwior, Arteta -8
    d) Palmer. Mbeumo, Howe -> Saka, KDB, Arteta -8

As a Saka early adopter he’s not fully fit or sharp.

Same for Mateta who’s a ghost of his previous form.

I do like the KDB punt, but it’s Pep roulette.

Looking at fixtures Pool vs Leicester could be record breaking & can see defender Virg or Brad or Diaz hauling under the radar with DGW blindness

        That's a very good point - thanks.

Unless Mateta is ruled out I'm kind of stuck with him, but Saka I will wait and see.

I'm FH34 WC35, BB36 so anything I do is a one week punt. Arsenal seems the obvious DGW, but maybe Arteta is enough and I could look elsewhere.

KDB is a decent shout as the race for top 4 is really close. So if he's fit and can play the full 90 then I reckon Pep will play him as he's the game changer. Saka and Mateta aren't fully fit true, but you don't need to be 100% to bag FPL points.

Are folks opinions on Saka being skewed when comparing performances from the bench v his performance when he started against Real Madrid? From an attacking POV against Real Madrid, he looked sharp, he was taking players on, good balls across the box and was taking corners.

It’s the rotation, not just Saka, it’s the impact on overall performance.
Arsenal likely only need 4-6 points to secure Champs League - they can easily achieve this rotating.

Not seeing many Trossard shouts when mentioning Ars assets.

Looks like the kind of player who will get 90mins vs Ips and maybe 30 (or more) vs CRY at least.

When Ars focus on CL he should start a few PL games like he momentarily is doing...

    B) Bruno Fernandes + Milenkovic > Eze + Bradley for a -4
    C) Bruno Fernandes + Milenkovic > KDB and Bradkey for a -4
    D) Murphy + Milenkovic > Eze + Bradley for a -4
    E) Bruno + Murphy + Milenkovic > KDB + Eze + Bradley for a -8
