Suspensions

Hugo Ekitike (£8.7m) will be banned in Gameweek 6 after being sent off for two bookable offences in the EFL Cup tie against Southampton on Tuesday.

Punishments for individual yellow cards are competition-specific, as we discuss in our weekly Suspension Tightrope article.

But suspensions for dismissals in cup games cover all competitive domestic matches.

So, Ekitike is handed a one-match ban and must sit out this weekend’s trip to Crystal Palace.

The next big question: will Alexander Isak (£10.5m) start at Selhurst Park?

The Swedish striker had been building his fitness up gradually for the Reds after a disrupted pre-season. Indeed, he’s yet to start in the Premier League since his big-money move.

After getting nearly an hour against Atletico Madrid a week ago, he lasted only the first 45 minutes of the win over the Saints.

Arne Slot will hopefully tell us more about Isak’s fitness in his post-match presser. We’ll relay any notable quotes in our EFL Cup Scout Notes.

If Isak isn’t ready for starting duty, we could see Cody Gakpo (£7.7m) or Florian Wirtz (£8.3m) – who featured as a false nine in pre-season – through the middle on Saturday.

I like the idea of Mbuemo with the fixtures coming up for Man United. He got to start returning soon surely.

on WC, would you go Gyok or Isak? Ekitike suspension shakes things up + Gyok has been unconvincing.

I'm skipping both but if I had to pick one, it would be Gyokeres.

That may well be, but in FPL he's an overpriced liability IMO. I think it's still too early for Isak, would rather roll the dice on Woltemade

The way Arsenal set up is not conducive to a striker getting great service time and time again and for him to score the goals we need for FPL.

They are just not a free flowing side and while they will win most games it won’t be because of Gyokeres unfortunately.

Gyoks midterm fixtures are looking great.

However, he is struggling with Arteta's system like all of the other strikers before. Jesus and Havertz found away to adapt to a role like Firminho in Liverpool.

I'm not sure if Gyok can adapt as well, but there is still a chance that the system will be altered. I think, Arteta is trying and it looked promising with Madueke and Trossard. But now with Saka back, it will be the same boring Arse game upfront as over the last few seasons.

I don't think it's a case of Gyokeres not being able to adapt while Havertz and Jesus did (the latter was playing in a completely different system btw) - it's more the fact that Gyokeres has been playing in a team without any creators. Even Haaland would struggle with Declan Rice as the best string-puller on the pitch.

      Isak should start delivering soon.

He knows the Premier League, he is a complete footballer (Gyok is more a finisher only) and Slot's system is different from Arteta and Klopp before.

Will eventually be selling both however would you lose Porro or Muñoz first?

Nearly done on my WC, 2 questions remain:

    1. I dont like the way Liverpools defence is looking at the moment, they continue to concede. However, who would you rather:

    A. Romero
    B. Virgil

    2. Who is most nailed CB now that Ballard is back?

Thanks all and have a good day

Ange on Murillo (post Burnley presser):

“He should be OK for Wednesday. He was close [to being involved] but it makes no sense risking players.

“I’ve been really happy with Morato at centre-back. He’s done well. I thought he stood up.

“The good thing is we have got competition for places, and that’s what we need. But the medical team tell me he should be ready for Wednesday.”

Murillo has not travelled to Spain for Europa League game

Assuming he doesn't start tonight, what do you think of Gvardiol?

Not seen him mentioned that much, presumably due to people prioritising Arsenal def.

(Planning to switch Sels to Raya in a week or two).

Have 2 FTs and Ekitike (but KDH as a starting option ahead of him this week). Worth doing Salah & Eki > Haaland and Reijnders, or hold given fitness doubts?

Is this the best time to triple captain Haaland?! I think so. Way below 50% owned and his annual early season form is in full force. I’m sure he does down before and around Christmas usually?!
