West Ham United, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers assets are on our differentials radar in Gameweek 8 of Fantasy Premier League (FPL).

These three players all have an ownership of 5% or less.

EL HADJI MALICK DIOUF

  • FPL ownership: 3.7%
  • Price: £4.4m
  • GW8-12 fixtures: BRE | lee | NEW | BUR | bou

While it’s been a difficult start to the season for West Ham, the form of El Hadji Malick Diouf (£4.4m) has certainly been a positive.

A summer arrival from Slavia Prague, the Senegal international has provided a real attacking threat down the left flank, registering four assists in seven matches, the joint-second-most of any player.

He also ranks among the top 10 defenders for final-third touches, crosses and chances created.

Above: El Hadji Malick Diouf’s touch heatmap in 2025/26

In their recent matches against Everton and Arsenal, Nuno Espirito Santo used a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 formation.

However, The Athletic recently reported that the Portuguese tactician experimented with a back three system in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Ipswich Town last week.

Should Nuno indeed transition to a wing-back system, it is sure to further enhance Diouf’s attacking impact.

West Ham host Brentford in Gameweek 8, and with Keith Andrews’ side fourth-worst for key passes conceded from their right flank, Diouf’s raids could translate into more attacking returns.

A clean sheet is also a possibility, as Brentford have only managed to score three goals in three away matches thus far.

Additionally, the fixtures after Brentford are favourable, with Leeds United and Burnley in Gameweeks 9 and 11 respectively, so it could be worth taking a punt on the 3.7%-owned Diouf.

ANTHONY GORDON

FPL notes: Gordon on pens, Livramento + Wissa updates 1

  • FPL ownership: 2.5%
  • Price: £7.4m
  • GW8-12 fixtures: bha | FUL | whu | bre | MCI

While he has failed to deliver any attacking returns so far, Anthony Gordon (£7.4m) is potentially being overlooked in FPL.

The left-winger scored for England against Latvia earlier this week, and has already netted three goals in the UEFA Champions League, including a brace of penalties in Matchday 2.

He now embarks on an appealing run of fixtures, with encounters against Brighton and Hove Albion, Fulham, West Ham and Brentford over the next four Gameweeks.

Crucially, three of those sides sit near the bottom for key passes conceded from their right flank:

Gordon has seen his price drop to £7.4m in FPL, following his red card against Liverpool in Gameweek 2, which resulted in him missing three matches due to suspension.

But after scoring 17 goals and providing 22 assists over the previous two campaigns, he has proven pedigree as an FPL asset, and given the fixtures, could well be worth a roll of the dice, even with Harvey Barnes (£6.4m) potentially eating into his minutes.

Brighton are yet to keep a clean sheet this season, having conceded 10 goals across their first seven matches.

Fulham, West Ham and Brentford have combined for only three shut-outs, too.

Gordon is owned by just 2.5% of FPL managers, and given he’s a name few seem to be considering, there’s no doubt that a return to form for the Newcastle winger would provide instant rewards for those willing to take a gamble.

JHON ARIAS

  • FPL ownership: 0.2%
  • Price: £5.2m
  • GW8-12 fixtures: sun | BUR | ful | che | CRY

It’s fair to say that Jhon Arias (£5.2m) has hardly set pulses racing since he arrived at Wolves in the summer, yet clashes against Sunderland and Burnley have brought the Colombian into our thinking.

Arias was restored to Vitor Pereira’s starting XI in Gameweek 6 and delivered a promising performance against Tottenham Hotspur.

Drifting between a position on the wing and a more central role, he registered two shots, three chances created and 14 defensive contributions (DefCons).

Moreover, he has now completed 90 minutes in each of his last two matches, and importantly, wasn’t selected for international duty over the break, allowing him additional time to adjust to his new surroundings.

Having featured for Fluminense at the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer, where he created at least six more chances than any other player, this period of rest could prove crucial.

“I feel good. I feel better with the team, with the ideas of the coach. I think my best version is coming and it’s important for me.

“It’s different. Different intensity, the duels, I think it is very different. The weather is different. So, for me, I know it’s normal, the adaptation to this league, to this country, the language, but I feel better and I am going the correct way.” – John Arias

Although Sunderland have defended well this season, they have conceded in two of their three home matches, and their 2-0 defeat to Manchester United before the international break, when they conceded 1.84 non-penalty expected goals (NPxG), suggests they can be vulnerable.

Furthermore, key centre-back Omar Alderete (£4.1m) is a potential absentee.

Desperate for three points, Wolves then host Burnley, with Arias expected to provide the creativity and inspiration for the home side.

So for those looking for a budget midfielder, Arias could prove an interesting route to follow.

Why is the International Break always mentioned as a good time to wildcard in order to catch price rises and increase team value? There is barely any transfer activity during these times and no value to be gained from what I have seen.

Yea who knows. Considering there is a much bigger time frame to make transfers, the chances of price changes each night is actually reduced as they are spread out over a greater period. Most transfer activity in the IB probably happens on day 1 and 2, and then the final two days, much like any other week, with less happening in the middle.

          That's not a bad point

I have him too and am likely to BB so was thinking of going to Wolt or Mateta

But I could roll and use BB then go for non playing 8th attacker and upgrade Stach too if I roll a FT.

If he starts he could do okay.

I would. Dub, Anthony, and Porro have nice fixtures (maybe not perfect for Porro). Gudmindson isn't going to get much most weeks so definitely think just focusing on the first 3 and if you like the look of their fixtures then go for it.

Only had Gyokeres a week, and frankly, I was expecting a blank last week with Nuno at the helm and West Ham probably having a little manager bounce. But if Gyokeres blanks vs Fulham, I think we can all agree that he is shite and needs to go. Wolte far cheaper, and better. That spare cash will be useful too.

Yeah he is looking awful, too big, slow and predictable. And now he has entered the trying too hard phase and the goals just aren’t going to come imo.

Pedro, Bowen, Woltemade all cheaper and better alternatives.

          • 6 Years
          1 month, 20 days ago

I know, its annoying. I even took a hit for it.

I knew I wanted Gyokeres and some Arsenal for the nice fixtures, so I had planned to get Gyokores in like 4 weeks before I did it. And when I planned all that, I was aiming to get him in for West Ham because of how useless Potter was. Potter then got fired, and I thought to myself, hmm this isnt good, but I still went ahead and stuck to my plan hoping I was wrong and that he would return in that game. I figured, West Ham will improve, for sure, but they won't stop Arsenal scoring, and if that's the case, there's surely a fair chance that its Arsenal's number 9 who scores.

I also didn't have enough transfers so I didn't plan that particularly well either.

Classic case of not listening to your gut and failing to act when situations change. I still did well last week, but the -4 does bug me.

Shoot, always listen to your gut and for a hit I definitely wouldn't have done that. I'm sure many of us bought him in because we were expecting a haul against West Ham given his record of being a flat track bully.

In fairness, the hit also involved selling Wood, who is essentially drift wood, so there wasn't much of a downside, other than the -4 itself lol.

I advocated against buying Gyokeres in the first place. However, if you bought him just last week, then selling him now is poor management. You need to give him 4-5 GWs

        1. have you seen cyan
          • 6 Years
          1 month, 20 days ago

If he does blank against Fulham, it will be hard not to rage him out lol. I get your point and FF Scout's, but equally, if you made a bad decision, its sometimes better to just fix it asap. IMO, if he cant score vs Fulham, then he can't really score vs anyone. Fulham aren't the worst team, but hardly tight at the back.

Taking a -4 hit to get Gyokeres in was impatience. Removing him after 1-2 weeks is also impatience. Some times you are going to get it right but in the long run these kind of moves will hurt your rank.

What are you going to do if you sell for Woltemade and he gets 0.2 xG and 2 points 2 games in a row? Spend another transfer to buy whatever striker has the most points in the last 2 GWs? 🙂

I agree there are other options but I think now that you're here unless you need the cash you stay. Fulham, CPL, Burnley, and Sunderland in the next 4 is great.

I could get behind Gyok and insert mid to Bowen and Saka for example.

Take your pick from Gabriel, Timber, Saka and Enzo

Is Semenyo actually a viable captain

            a) no
            b) if he has a better fixture than Haalnad
            c) if Haaland has a bad fixture only

              Haaland is fixture proof...

Maybe bad fixture is the wrong term, but he has tough fixtures. Its not like he is going to be getting hattricks vs teams like Arsenal, Pool, and Newcastle is it.

Somewhere between B and C kind of. Personally I am thinking that Semenyo is new the Salah, and I'll keep that view until proven otherwise.

GWs 11 and 12 could be candidates.

Thoughts on this WC draft and 5th mid option? Feels uber template

            Pope/Dubravka
            Gabriel, Timber, Senesi, Rodon, Andersen
            Semenyo, Saka, Minteh*, Sarr, King
            Pedro, Haaland, Bowen

            0.8 ITB

            A) keep as is
            B) Minteh to Enzo and 0.0 ITB

            TIA

Which one of these 3 would you play?

            Trippier (bha)
            Rodon (bur)
            Senesi (cpl)

                Time for 2-2 then!

I think it's four goalless encounters.

Keep Reijnders or move to Paqueta?

would keep reijnders for this gw given fixture, sounds like nuno is playing around with different set ups so would want to wait and see where paqueta fits in. of course he will play but just to see how advanced he is/isn't

I'm not sold on West Ham.

What's he done to warrant a transfer in?

Why would a FH be a good play this week?

It's a fairly even fixture week.

you're right but just the way my team is atm, want to sell a few but not sure who to get in. and although they wont make my FH want to give gyokeres/foden and maybe even mbeumo just one more gw to to something before considering selling them.

think if i can gain 15-25 points and not sell someone this gw i might regret having sold down the line, it will feel worth it.

            BB these 4?

            Dúbravka
            Sarr Stach Senesi

Also playing Semenyo and I may well get Mateta too. Does that alter the equation?

No Palace defenders tho. It's either Sarr or Reijnders.

think for sure bb, unless you plan to have strong 15 every/most gws, guess a better set of fixtures might crop up but 2 newly promoted sides and the potential of sarr with senesi likely bagging dc points looks very appealing . think leeds performed very well vs fulham and did wolves in on the road so wouldnt be too put off by the away fixture for stach.

i guess its not a bb with the highest ceiling given they're playing each other, but would be very surprised if that 4 didnt get 12-15 between them. if you want more, could wait maybe

                Cheers

                I'd be happy with that

I'm also playing my Sunderland defender, Nordi Mukiele at home to Wolves.

I think it's the right week and I seem to have got through injury free, barring any concerns tomorrow.
