With Gameweek 2 done and dusted already, we’re able to roll out our regular article analysing the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) a little earlier than last week. The idea is to give a roll call of the best performing managers in the Scout league so far, while analysing the current transfer patterns ahead of the weekend’s round of fixtures:

Scout League Standings

Asriel Chen leaps to the top of the Scout league after racking up 101 points in Gameweek 2. Already, he has accrued an incredible 226 points and has established a 12 point gap at the summit. Second overall in FPL, Asriel has his City, Chelsea and Swansea contingents mainly to thank for his outstanding start – captain Carlos Tevez racked up 24 points, while Yaya Toure, Eden Hazard, Fernando Torres, Michu and Angel Rangel returned 57 points between them.

Paul Avery sits in second spot on 214 points – 23rd overall. Notching up a ton of points, he has also recorded back-back three figure scores, with a trio of Swansea and Chelsea players the main protagonists. Rangel, Michu and Danny Graham scored 32 points, while Hazard, captain Torres and Branislav Ivanovic boosted Paul’s haul by 41 points.Darren O’Connor has to settle for joint-third spot after picking up 84 points in Gameweek 3. A solid defensive unit picked up four clean sheets, while Michu (captain), Tevez, Hazard and Graham racked up 53 points between them.

Darren’s total of 211 points is equalled by Renoir Buffon, who leapt up the ranking after a 101 point haul in Gameweek 2. Renoir’s side has a couple of differentials compared to the other contenders – Ali Al-Habsi and Steven Pienaar both registered 10 points apiece, with the usual suspects such as Hazard, Tevez, Torres and Toure all chipping in with points aplenty. Mithun Nair completes the top five, despite harbouring a certain Aleksandar Kolarov amongst his ranks. Captain Tevez, along with Torres, Toure, Pienaar, Shinji Kagawa and Nathan Dyer helped him to 87 points in the Gameweek gone by. The average of our top five managers means we are currently number one in the “Best Leagues”, with 214.4 points on the board.

For the Contributors, Anorak takes over top spot this week. Rafael and Ivanovic both played a part defensively, Toure, Kagawa and Michu supplied the points from midfield, with Tevez and Torres doing the damage up front. Anorak currently sits on 170 points overall – 12,601 in the rankings.

The Market Trends

Michu continues to lead the way for transfers in, with over 139,000 Fantasy managers snapping up the Spaniard after he registered 28 points in his opening two matches. The Swansea midfielder has already risen by 0.5 since the start of the season as we scramble to get a piece of the action ahead of a run of games which sees Michael Laudrup’s men play four home matches in the next six Gameweeks. With form and fixtures on his side, the bandwagon shows little sign of slowing – the same applies to Michu’s team mate Nathan Dyer, with over 50,000 bringing in the winger after another assist in the 3-0 win over West Ham highlighted his cut-price potential. Angel Rangel is another big climber after his goal against the Hammers – over 67,000 Fantasy managers have picked up the right-back since the end of Gameweek 2.

With a blank Gameweek on the horizon for Chelsea, 11,000 have transferred out Eden Hazard. On the other hand, the Belgian’s three consecutive double figure points hauls have acquired him over 128,000 new suitors – similarly, Fernando Torres has earned plenty of investment, with over 83,000 managers picking up El Nino. As wildcards are wielded as a result of injuries to the likes of Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney, Torres offers a cheaper option to the Manchester duo, while many feel they simply can’t afford to sit back and watch Hazard’s price continue to escalate; he sits at 9.8 with another rise imminent.

Back-to-back goals from Marouane Fellaini has brought the Everton midfielder plenty of attention ahead of a trip to West Brom. Over 101,000 Fantasy managers have clambered aboard the bandwagon, with the Belgian rising 0.2 to 6.7 since the start of the season. Unsurprisingly, the Aguero and Rooney injuries have had a major knock-on effect on Carlos Tevez and Robin Van Persie. The pair look strong captaincy options for the weekend – Tevez entertains QPR and Van Persie travels to Southampton; so far, they’ve received a combined total almost 206,000 transfers in, with Tevez already up to 9.4 from 9.0 after picking up 18 points in the first two Gameweeks.

No surprise, them, to see Rooney as the most transferred out player this week. Over 197,000 have parted company with the United man after his thigh injury at the weekend – bearing in mind that Aguero is second with 52,000, the Rooney exodus is clearly dramatic and has produced an upturn in ownership for Shinji Kagawa as squads are reassembled – the Japanese star has been drafted in by almost 43,000 ahead of a trip to Southampton and home clash with Wigan.

Elsewhere, aside from Hazard, the Chelsea midfielders are being deserted by considerable numbers. Ramires, Juan Mata, Frank Lampard and Victor Moses have a combined tally of over 132,000 transfers out, with 44,000+ getting rid of Ramires alone. John Terry and Ashley Cole are also victims of the blank Gameweek – a total of 55,000 have shipped the defensive duo, while Man City’s rotation at the back, allied with a lack of clean sheets, is causing plenty concern – Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott and Gael Clichy have all seen significant sales ahead of the QPR match.

      Would you indeed.

I just think Adebayor can pick up points even when he's playing crap, because of his propensity for goal hanging.

I think HBA might be a better option.

Goal hanging? I swear he thought he was Pirlo at times last season. Great option, but i think Ba won't be far off Adebayor over the next 4 fixtures. 2m is the difference between a 5m defender & Baines, a noble or a Nolan, etc...

Yeah maybe, just looked through the stats, Defoe (13) has had twice as many efforts as Ba (6) so Tottenham are creating chances i guess, either that or Defoe is just shooting on sight (more likely)

If you were wildcarding would you spend big on Van Persie or distribute in midfield? I have gone without VP and selected a spiffing midfield array and Adebayor to enter the fray.

No, I will not do that....the time is now to get RVP and have him get all the attention until Rooney returns. The RVP will be rested.....then we load up on the midfield at that point!

After running Chico, Williams and Rangel through the Comparison Tool, I think I might go for Chico instead of my original plan of Rangel. He's a definite threat on set-pieces, and has a lot of clearances and blocks, so I'm hoping he might be just as good as Caulker was for me last season.

What are your thoughts? And how has Rangel really been in these two matches? Was his a goal a one-of, or does he get forward often, doubling up with the winger?

Williams is the star man in the Swans defence and it seems to translate somehow into BPs. He also score twice last season.

Chico looks dangerous in more ways than one. I'd avoid him personally. He might end up with a goal or two this season but saying that his goal scoring record at previous clubs is pretty rubbish.

BPs are important when you're bringing them in for the season. Swansea's fixtures go worse after WIG in GW8, then it might be right to sell the defender. Rangel gives you much more when it comes to team value (he's fashionable among casual players and has much lower ownership).

Prices of the most wanted are rising and quickly.

I always think that the first WC is better utilised early for this reason. Ideally you should do it on the first day of a Gw though to maximise rises.

On whether YOU should WC. It is impossible to say without linking your team.

Trying to decide if I want to move both Ivanovic and Torres out for a -4pt hit, or just move one. My original plan was to move Adebayor in for Torres, but I'm not convinced by Tottenham with ABV in charge. I missed the game over the weekend, how did Adebaoyor look? I see he only played 29 minutes. My other idea is to move Ivanovic out and keep Torres on the bench, although I hate to see 10m on the bench. I was thinking of getting an Everton defender, maybe Baines, but not sure I want to put that much into a defender. Or maybe Distin, but I'm not sure if he's a rotation risk. Thoughts?

Re: Adebayor - like he hadn't played in months. First touch poor. Will quickly improve however. Plus Spurs new signings (whoever they may be) should improve the situation. Livermore couldn't break down a plywood door.

Thanks, Scroob. I'm thinking of doing Ba instead of Adebayor to save money. I can wait on that transfer though. Now, I need to think about what I want to do with Ivanovic. I think he is fairly nailed on, but there might be some threat with the Azpilicueta signing, so he might be better to move first.

    Hi guys,

Do you think it's worth spending my precious 2.5m on upgrading Nolan to Kagawa?

On first glance it looks a no brainer. But Nolan has a good fixture, will score points and is my cheapest midfielder. However I have no Man Utd coverage and Kagawa's price will rise but I am still not 100% convinced by him and I could save the transfer and money.

    My attacking 8:-

    Bale Hazard McClean Michu Nolan
    Adebayor Tevez Graham

Right lads, done my freebie for this week which was torres>tevez. Still have terry and am thinking of getting baines/spurs def in for a hit? Thoughts? I have also been contemplating using my WC as i was determined not to take many if any hits this season. My team currently is...

    DDG/fed

    cuellar/hangeland/zab/terry/clyne

    michu/yaya/kagawa/noble/guthrie

    tevez/graham/RVP

    2.0 IN THE BANK 0FT

Any ideas?? Took a hit GW2. Have made a solid if unspectacular start... 128 pts but i know there are some cracking FF minds on the best scout site on the net so i'm throwing this out there with the hope someone gives me some solid feedback on my next move. 🙂 cheers lads, over to you! lol

Keep Nasri as he could get more points. Could always ship Nasri out later for Kagawa/hazard later if Mancini starts dropping him. Would get Baines as ditched Ivanovic myself for him.

    ddg federeci
    hangeland kaboul clyne gorkss cole
    nasri valencia michu ramires tarabt
    torres tevez podolski

Have 2Ft and 0m. so thinking of doing the following:
A: cole, tarabt, ramires >>>> rangel, lennon, and any mid upto 5.7
B: cole, podolski, ramires >>> rangel, petric, and any mid upto 9

both scenarios above would leave me cash in the bank to do nasri to hazard in gw4.

    Thoughts??????

Those (me incuded) who did not start with hazard, tevez And michu in their team and have yet to get them in could potentially be 1.5m worse off by the end of the week. That's a massive disadvantage.

Make of it what you will but these 3 look likely to continue continue racking up points.

I just feel you need it to be like a 24 point hit to consider a wildcard, I'm not desperately unhappy with my team, I can field an ok 11 with 2 transfers, -4 hit, I would love to make 4/5 changes but im not sure they're essential, which is why im questioning the WC idea...just yet

Yeah, that's the worry. Just feeling quite uninspired a la transfers right now, and I'm currently operating on one striker upfront for next week (Tevez).

Really want RVP, but there's no way I can get him without totally compromising on my midfield, plus I'm hoping Kagawa can counter his points. He'll assist every goal of RVP's...right? Right??
