John Terry has confirmed he will not be appealing against the four-match ban imposed by the FA for racially abusing Anton Ferdinand last October. The Chelsea skipper had until 6pm this evening to make his decision but released the following statement earlier this morning:

“I want to take this opportunity to apologise to everyone for the language I used in the game. Although I’m disappointed with the FA judgment, I accept that the language I used, regardless of the context, is not acceptable on the football field or indeed in any walk of life. As I stated in the criminal case, with the benefit of hindsight my language was clearly not an appropriate reaction to the situation for someone in my position. My response was below the level expected by Chelsea Football Club, and by me, and it will not happen again.”

Terry’s suspension will now take place with immediate effect. He is set to miss three league games – this weekend’s trip to Spurs, a home clash with United and the visit to Swansea – in addition to a Capital One Cup tie against United on October 31.

Domestically, he will next be available on November 11 for Liverpool’s visit to the Bridge, though Terry can participate in the Champions League away and home clashes against Shakhtar Donetsk on October 23 and November 7 respectively.

The news is likely to boost Gary Cahill’s first-team chances over the short-term, at least. The former Bolton man has started just one of the last four league matches, whereas David Luiz has featured in the first XI in the last five for Roberto Di Matteo’s side – a run of matches which has seen the Blues concede just twice.

Di Matteo also has the option of moving Branislav Ivanovic to the centre and handing new boy Cesar Azpilicueta a start at right-back; the summer signing climbed off the bench against Norwich in Gameweek 7 for his league debut. Whether Di Matteo will give Azpilicueta his first start against Spurs or United is perhaps debatable, though; the smart money seems to be on Cahill slotting in alongside Luiz as Chelsea look to maintain their position at the top of the position in their skipper’s absence.

Worth waiting until tomorrow and losing 0.1m on Felli? Not that Moyes will shed any light.

I made the jump last night.

Had Ramirez to get rid of aswell for Kebe, but as hadn't decided on Fellaini replacement did Fellaini > Kebe (which sounds a mental move, without other info!)

Undecided on the taking the hit for Ramirez to Ben Arfa/Nasri/Kagawa this week.

I've not seen any new source suggesting he'll play this week - most seem to suggest he's touch and go for Liverpool.

I object to this. What we had was a vague briefing stating 3 weeks from Belgian docs, then a tweet from Fellaini that was more optimistic.

I've seen little indication that he'll be anything but ready for liverpool, and he could yet feature this week.

I'd love to be corrected on this 🙂

do people not see Kun as a rotation risk?
or is he so strong that he will score no matter he starts or not?
I can do torres>kun, but i already have tevez too

I think Kun is Mancini's first choice striker, and he will start the vast majority of games. Tevez is good value if he starts, but I think he may be more prone to rotation than Aguero. Ps, I currently have Tevez!

I've been debating this, and after thinking about rotation risk etc, I'm now simply thinking "who will score more from now until the end of the season - Aguero or *insert other striker here*". I personally tipped Aguero for the golden boot at the start of the season, and although he will be rested occasionally, I don't think many - if any - will outscore him.

I agree he'll get probably get the golden boot.

Plus he'll probably grab a few doubles and hatricks along the way, so with captain choice, he's worthwhile for me.

I think he's first choice striker and between him and Tevez probably minimal difference in game time, but Aguero will just score more goals.

at 11m, he outperforms RVP on any metric.

I even dumped Tevez for him this week, which is not the best timing but, injury aside, Kun's in for the duration.

Yeah for sure he's fixture proof but also inconsistent (in terms of fpl points) I think he's a good pick and will certainly get a lot of points this season but as you say gotta keep him long term, not just for runs of "easy" fixtures as he's just as likely vs the top teams. Yeah as are liverpool as a whole. Personally I don't see him as a captain choice

Think i've decided. I'm going to do Ba -> Berba this week.
Sunderland away isnt a great fixture, and Ba's got Cisse and HBA as competition for points.

            Reading are shite though.
I also have Clyne and Davies which is probably why I need a better defender who I can actually play with the hope of more than a point.
Interesting though..I know Agueros fixtures are good but he will be rotated and it will be against either Swansea or Villa or even Spurs (if that is the game before Madrid) which is who I want him for.

Baines Gallas and then the 2 I named above.
Yeah Nolan is a two week punt so it's really a 6.3 or less midfielder.
I thought A would be the main choice tbh. I dont have to decide this week mind you so this was a little pointless.

I'd definitely want someone better than Gorkss with those 2. Maybe not another biggish hitter, but someone you can rely on. With Citeh struggling in CL so far, they will have to go all out in that, so Aguero will likely experience heavy rotation in the PL, like you say. I'm doing something similar to A on my WC if that's any help, with Berba, Lallana and Sagna/A fill in until he's back.

    Considering

    A. Rafael > Baines

Is this just for this week? Don't get rid of Vorm, he's got a good fixture.

I'd do D, but not sure about the others.

It's a bit longer term than that, there are only a limited number of transfer windows, and only limited transfers available at each.

If I keep Vorm I could use my 3 to do:

        Agger, Hazard and Pienaar out
        Rafael, HBA and Giroud in...

I'd keep Torres till Chelsea sign another striker.

      4 for me.

        Cheers, old pal.

I could also get Giroud instead of HBA. That would mean Vorm, Agger, Hazard out, Begovic, Rafael and Giroud in.

Giroud looks for the next two, but is he nailed over the long run?

Hm. Probably. He's a good player, and that's definitely the long term plan.

Otherwise I could do Begovic, HBA & Ivanovic.
