And so it goes on. With Granville bemoaning a “reasonable” 58-point Gameweek, I slip further into the mire as my team of differentials, mis-placed punts and failed opportunities continue on their relentless decline.

Slowly but surely the roles are being reversed in our weekly chat – as I recall my latest errant transfer and Granville struggles to curb his smugness: he even talks about himself in the third person.

As I desperately clutch at straws and roll out some positive thinking, my co-host halts his stream of advice to analyse the week’s rolling bandwagons and preview the weekend fixtures, whilst discussing the crunchy topics.

Just to check is The Europa League fantasy game down? Haven't got it to work all day (glad I had to make my transfer yesterday).

On another note...how's the podcast? 2 recorded in 2 weeks. That's as rare as back to back green arrows for Mark this season (or me!)

Plus CL game may see Richards thrown in to the NOR fixture too.
Can't see many points coming from Zab over next few weeks. SUN away is a good game, then TOT and SWA to face if he keeps Richards out.

Trouble is I've had him from the start as a 'season-long investment' and can't find the right moment to kick him out.
Lots of spare cash to release - but always seem to be other priorities.

Please don't sell him - I don't want his price to go down

So I've narrowed down my transfer IN this week to either Chico or Glen Johnson, but they both play at home this week against less than strong oppostion, so both good for a cleanie. Tempted to bring in both for a hit. Which would make my team:

    Boruc
    Merte, Baines, Chico, GJ, (Chester)
    Paulinho, Michu, Ramsey (Barkley), (Brady)
    Sturridge, Giroud, Lukaku.

THen dump Mertesacker the follwoing week to free up funds.

This. He says that Gerrard and Lamps are very good players, just not to the level they are hyped up to be.

I think SAF has said what many of us presumed overal. Like I said the other day, I think the Hargreaves' comments were off and reactionary.

I bet he wouldn't have even mentioned Hargreaves had he not criticized the physio's at the club.

Why shouldn't SAF talk about Gerrard? He wanted to sign him, so he must have thought he was a good player, just not as good as Scholes. Liverpool fans are very touchy about this.

Yeah, I think that was a SAF knee jerk.

Definitely, he is a very, very good player as everyone agrees. Where the debate lies is whether he's elite or just under that bracket. Personally, I think he's the latter and so does SAF. I'd still want to sign thim, though as he tried.

It's a delicate line with the likes of Gerrard. Brilliant? Yes. Anywhere near the likes of Zidane, Iniesta etc? No where near. I think that's the point he's making.

As above, you'd still try and sign him if you were the manager of a British team.

Clyne for great next few fixtures then tougher....
Chico for slightly more long term coverage of good fixtures...but Davies & Williams injuries weaken SWA defence.

Both cheap enough for you to combine with your bank to upgrade a midfielder (eg. Barkley) to Silva

I like the prospect of Andros and i've never been a big fan of Yaya so maybe but I think there could be better value for Yaya's price, even though its a little sideways maybe a straight swap to Silva. Although Ramsey and Giroud > Ozil and Aguero I like the sound of next week

Brendan Rodgers criticising Sir Alex for "lacking old school ethics" and allowing conversations from the dressing room to come out.

Is this the same Brendan Rodgers that starred in a television show called Being Liverpool, with cameras on the training ground and dressing rooms before/after matches?

"Anyone who's been in football knows that whatever is said behind closed doors and in the changing room is something you wouldn't want to hear again" - Rodgers today.

        A little hypocritical, no?

Nope. Not the show you think it was. It was a show where you got to see how cute Gerrard's daughters were and Lucas stretch his quads. Nothing like the SAF material.

04-06 there's definitely an argument to be had on his quality, since then barring perhaps the 08-09 he's been nothing spectacular.

Hollywood passes, the occasional goal and largely anonymous performances.
