Heavy-hitting forwards delivered handsomely in Gameweek 9 and have come under considerable scrutiny as Fantasy managers look to freshen up their front lines. We also look at the oldest question in Fantasy Football history and catch up on all the action from our community leagues.

Hottest Topics

Reckoner – Early Trees Down has been pondering whether Wayne Rooney is worth his price tag. For that price he wants the prospect of braces and hat-tricks every now and again, but his research shows the Manchester United forward wanting. Read his analysis here to find out which players are the most likely to garner monster gameweek scores.

Sergio Aguero is another heavy-hitting forward attracting attention this week. Agbonlahorse warns that the Argentine forward may find himself substituted off the pitch earlier than many of his new owners anticipate when Manchester City host Norwich at the weekend, though. With a key Champions League match to play just days later, his analysis shows that Aguero is often found riding the pine in domestic matches before crunch European games.

Ahead of last weekend’s games Smarty Pants spent some time delving into the top 1000 in the Fantasy Premier League game. His research shows that among the most transferred out players inthis elite group were  Manchester City’s Pablo Zabaleta and Yaya Toure as well as Everton’s Ross Barkley.

With so many bargains in midfield and Romelu Lukaku also delivering up front does team value really matter as much this season? Among those to answer this question posed by Triggerlips were Zepinho who describes chasing transfer value this season with points hits as “folly.”

JohnDavies asked which so-called Comeback Kings among the Premier League’s injury list would tempt the community once they regain fitness. Fred Quimby has his eye on Philippe Coutinho, while Quish_ is ready and waiting to draft in Theo Walcott when he returns.

Finally one of the oldest questions in Fantasy Football popped up again courtesy of Syn3rgy. Just how much is success down to skill and how much is governed by luck?

Community Leagues

In HeelsOverHead’s Worst To First – 2 Million+ Club, for teams with an overall rank below 2 million in the first five Gameweeks, there are now seven teams in the top 500,000. YOLO Toure leads their long march to the top with an overall rank of 156,282.

TorresMagic’s Early Bird League has concluded with LawnDart and Stephen Woods both failing to make the cut. They get the title of joint runners up. His Last Man Standing competition lost 44 managers this week, leaving 660 in a week where the safety score was 54. There are also five more competitions available to enter. Full details can be found here.

In Thomass and Peppie&Felix’s Friends Life competition Beric, Daniel and Al Pacino are the league leaders. All three have now qualified for the next round, as have Thomass, TW and Koing Luther.

Those topping InTommyWe Trust’s All Things leagues are La Roja, Chilin Dude, LawnDart, Crouch Potato, Binij and Col Nil Satis. The first round draw for his All Things 50 Quid cup competition has also been made.

The It’s A Long And Winding Road competition continues at a canter with Beric topping the main league as well as one of its seven H2H leagues. The other H2H league leaders are Evs, Gaz Downright, IAmSuarez, Super-Hans, Champ and Adam West.

FFS UEFA’s Beach Soccer World Cup tournament’s first game proved disappointing for the Fantasy Football Scout moderator and contributor dominated Ukraine side who were soundly thrashed by Senegoal. The other winners were Spain, Tahiti, El Salvador, Iran, Solomon Islands, Paraguay and Japan. For more about the competition visit our dedicated article here.

Elsewhere in the FFS UEFA competitions their FA Cup tournament is now down to 40 players who will be joined by 24 Conference Premier players this weekend. Special mention goes to Spike and his giant killing Formby team, which is the only remaining 10th tier side in the competition.

    I hit a new low last night. I was out with friends last night drinking to celebrate our graduation when amongst all the chatter & laughs, it dawned on me out of the blue, there's a good chance Eriksen will drop & Aguero will rise. Without any thought whatsoever, in I went to the bathroom of the nightclub, locked the cubicle door behind me and proceeded to do:

    Giroud & Eriksen -> Aguero (c) & Sessegnon for a 4 point hit without a minutes consideration. If my thoughtless drunken transfers work out better than my usual well thought out transfers then I shall be adopting this new approach for the rest of the season 🙂

      Seems like a perfectly reasonable transfer that any sober man would do. When I'm drunk I'm more likely to do things like Evra --> Kolorov (c) for a hit.

      Last season sat on the bog at Narita Airport, Tokyo I turned on data-roaming in order to transfer Berbatov out before his price fell. Of all my transfers, that was the least 'free' since it probably cost about £25 in roaming charges. Then again, it was a company phone... 🙂

      Did a similar transfer last night (but not drunk).

      Giroud, Paulinho and Coleman > Aguero, Sessengon and Burner -4 point hit.

      Do fancy Sess and Aguero for the weekend and although Rate My Team says that Giroud should be on par with Aguero, I think the penalties swing it his way, plus Jovetic injury last night did it no harm.

      Suarex or Michu. I'd plumb for Michu just to maximise the brace he might get, but Suarez is a class apart.

      Oscar is also possible I guess, against a decimated Newcastle, but the best you'll get is a goal form him. Michu and Suarez could easily get double figures.

      Safe = Suarez
      Risky = Michu
      Stupid = Baines

    Please cast your minds back to GW8, when every man and his dog were scrambling around to get Lukaku in for Everton’s home match vs Hull City, off the back of 29 points and 5 goals in his previous 3 games.

    However GW8 didn’t quite go as expected for the big man, who was subsequently outscored by RVP, Rooney, Giroud, Soldado, Aguero, Sturridge and Suarez that weekend; all of which scored goals in GW9 too.

    Now, just two weeks later, it would appear that everyone’s in the same panicked state, desperate to get Aguero in for Man City’s home match vs Norwich, off the back of 31 points and 5 goals in his previous 3 games. Getting that deja-vu feeling too?

    I’m not saying he isn’t (potentially) a great option this weekend, but just take a little time to think about the players you’re transferring out, especially those considering hits to remove the likes of Giroud, Rooney or Sturridge this week.

    You’ve been warned! 🙂

        Perhaps, but the attitude towards Lukaku prior to the Everton vs Hull game off the back of 29 points in 3 games was similar.

        Lots of people are dumping Sturridge, but he's probably a great option for (c) against Fulham at home next weekend.

      I've removed Studge this week for aguero and the will bringin Suarez for Rooney next week leaving me with

          But even if he doesn't blank, chances are that the player you transfer out will also score well over the next couple of weeks... one big week from Aguero (without him) isn't gonna break your season, so don't panic and trust the strikers you have

          Lots of people were dumping Soldado a while back, now he's repaying the faith... I'm sure Benteke will be on everyone's wish list soon too... Those dropping Sturridge will probably regret it too, when he scores a hattrick vs Fulham at home next weekend 🙂

        Disagree. He's now playing less and less mites and facing threat from Ossie / Pienaar / MCarthy Gibsons done his knee else there would be even more threat.

        Lukaku can score versus anyone so keep would make sense (I did remove for Aguerro but I did torment over it)

        Coleman has lost a bit of vibe and I'm considering removing next week (yes for the palace game) but well see.

    Eriksen / Michu / Brady / Barkley / Özil
    Sturridge / Lukaku / Giroud

    1 FT, £1.7m in the bank

      Are all the new Aguero owners not worried that rotation will bite sooner rather than later?

      Currently undecided between Suarez and Aguero for Soldado. Aguero (c) this week is the easy move, but Suarez seems more sensible given that he'll definitely play every minute he's available

        Short term I am not worried as they need points in the PL and the next 2 opponents in the CL are worse than any of the PL opponents so even if he plays those games it should not be a very demanding game with loads of defensive work.

              Im in the same boat, as I got Aguero last season over Suarez for too long. And slept on him this season for the same reason. But the fact is he is the striker with the best conversion rate in the league and at 3 shots per game that is huge. And everyone thought City did well getting Jovetic and Negredo, but for me Balo and Tevez were way better (sadly with no brains though). I think they need Aguero to win most games as United did with Persie last season.

          RMT seems to have much more confidence in Suarez than most people on (and off) this site. Has him outscoring Aguero, Rooney, Sturridge and only fractionally less than Suarez in the next six...

          hi there

          please tell me who to bench out of

          Michu, Lampard, Ramsey, Lallana, Brady, Aguero, Rooney, Sturridge

          Obviously throw out michu and the three fowards and I suppose ramsey as candidates.

          I dont like lallana's fixture, Im sick of getting nothing from lamps but you know you get burned the week you bench him, and brady has the great fixture but we havent seen him fully fit since hernia surgery.

          My gut says bench brady. Please offer your opinions, Thanks!

          Have to laugh at the kun rotation scaremongering by non owners.

          Last season under a manager who rotated far more in pl , we were told kun would be rotated in the christmas period , what happened he started all christmas games.

          If fit kun starts pl games rarely plays 90 mins but as an owner 75 is plenty due to his undoubted class.
