Gameweek Nine saw 256 fantasy managers battle it out in the second round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. Those involved surely know the outcome of their own fixture, so to see how everyone else faired this round click here.

If reading the results James Alexander Gordon-style isn’t for you, then read on for the round highlights. However, before I get onto listing the key outcomes, I have to bring you some tragic news… I am no longer involved in the competition, after a 51 – 40 robbery against JohnSteed01. A minutes silence will be observed before the round three fixtures.

One Fantasy Manager who might be able to get over that news is The Plutocrat who, after his 74 – 40 annihilation of timboeve (the widest margin of victory in the round), earns himself a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

Just missing out on the prize was rajmanutd who, along with chipsngravey (in a very northern outing), was involved in the highest scoring tie of the round, as the former prevailed 70 – 59.

At the other end of the spectrum was billyboychrisd‘s 37 – 33 victory over dadoune. Which wasn’t the lowest score jammy enough to win this weekend however, CarlowsGalacticos‘ narrow 36 – 35 ousting of Dino wins that award.

That was one of eleven match-ups decided by a single point, which included greghammer95‘s 53 – 52 win over hello 911 it’s quagmire….

Three fixtures went down to the tie-breaker of overall rank, which saw bossdrum, Chris81 and targa eliminate Clive, Burton and Mattenue respectively.

Contrasting fortunes for our former champions sees donnellyc marching on, thanks to a 40 – 31 victory over ham5ter, and Jonty doing one, as a result of his 55 – 48 loss at the hands of Ann_der_roo.

Granville is now the only contributor to have a berth in the tournament, as he saw off wolves_simmo with ease 50 – 32, with Pure Olivia (46 – 40 Ty_Durden67) and I getting beat.

So now we are down to 128, just 10% of everyone who entered the competition. They will learn of their opponent on Thursday when the third round fixtures (to be played during GW10) will pop up on the site.

Well done to those awaiting that fixture list (not you JohnSteed01), and commiserations to everyone bowing out this time round (some with more grace than others).

The metering appears to be wrong there.

The second part of the 1st and 4th stanzas are 5 beats long and the 2nd and 4th are 7.

To work you need to sing 'Little Pea, little', not 'Little Pea Little Pea'.

Sorry, its the bass player in me coming out there.

Look right down any crowded hall
      You'll see there's a beauty standing
      Is she really everywhere
      Or a reflection?
One always calls out to you
      The other's shy and quiet
Could there be two different girls
      Who look the same at

      Sweet Valley, Sweet Valley High
Meet you at Sweet Valley High,
      Sweet Valley, Sweet Valley High,
Meet you at Sweet Valley High

      You can never really tell
Which one you're standing next to
      One thing is for sure
You can be sure of nothing
      Lots of gossip going round
      About this one, that one
      Not too many secrets kept
      In the world of
      Sweet Valley, Sweet Valley High,
Meet you at Sweet Valley High,

    dilemma of the week;

have drogba, have nasri, have adam.

want rid of drogba, for hernadez (not cos of tonight).

But getting nasri out for a hit for fabregas seems stupid, as does losing charlie adam at home v WBA, goals galore.

what, on earth, does one do but hang tight with the chico transfer, and hope fabs doesnt go nuts (which i dont feel he will by the way).

    discuss, if youre bored.

                have you played football?

just this once i'm gonna agree RBJ, it was a lazy pen, fabs not only didn't place it well, it was hit with little pace and he gave away where he was putting it. any half decent keeper would have saved that

Oh right- thought you were saying that getting fabs in was a mistake!

TBH, any penalty saved is not a great penalty (with the odd exception) and I think Fabs rather telegraphed which way he was going to go...

I can't afford a Fab price rise so I am bringing him in tonight. Wanted to wait another day or 2, but just have to hope he doesn't play tomorrow. I don't think he will.

As for the PK, it was average. I have taken PKs for my club for the past 2-3 years and the lack of power and precision was pretty obvious. Hart, being England's # 1 - will get the plaudits for the save, but that needs to be either a) hit harder b) hit more to the corner / higher.

Nevertheless, I think Fab keeps pens (his PK in the Champions League last week was well hit) and I'm bringing him in in a few minutes...

In fainess RBJ, Hernandez isn't guaranteed starts with Wayne back soon, so i'd never transfer a regular like Drogs out unless you really really really wanted to gamble.

    1) A cole > Bosingwa, Bale > Fabs & Berbatov for Elmander

Flip a 3 sided dice. Or use a 6 sided and 1 and 4 are 1 2 and 5 etc. But I would choose someting like Berb -> Varney Bale -> Fabs, I wouldn't get rid of Cashley. Option 3 If I had to choose one of them though, perhaps get rid of Malouda/Drogs. And if you want Bosingwa then get him in GW12 for someone that isn't Cashley.

          Not a good call imo.

Just drop Malouda for Fabregas. Cole and Drogba are enough Chelsea cover, and I think Cole will outscore Malouda, and he's cheaper.

Fund the move by downgrading Bale.

Our away fans are incredible, at Old Trafford we expect to see great football every week. Too quick to stop singing when things aren't going to plan.

Anyone ever hear the talksport phone in where they were trying to come up with chants for Pavlyuchenko? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VW6UqEHvzak - if you skip to about 5 mins 18 secs there's a little compilation of all the best ones that people came up with.

...the one sung to the tune of 'It's Magic' is good, but I love, to the tune of Knees up Mother Brown:

              We can't spell his name
              We can't spell his name
              Pavyluchenko Pavlyuchenko

which sub combo do you prefer, (a), (b) or (c):

    a) (8 point hit)
    OUT: Torres, Dempsey, Etherington
    IN: Hernandez, Fabregas, Brunt

    b) (8point hit)
    OUT: Torres, Dempsey, Konchesky

The main thing I notice is that they all have Hernandez. Which is fine now, but in a few weeks time if Rooney's back it'll probably be Hernandez getting 20 minute run outs again at the end of games.

B or C look the best as you are getting rid of players who will either not help you much in the long run or are possibly injured.

However, linking to your team (and I add the disclaimer that you are doing embarrassingly way better then me in the global standings) I'd leave the defence alone this week and downgrade Torres and Dempsey for Fabs and someone like Carroll or Elmander who won't get rotated in a few weeks time.

Only 4 pt hit too (though you can afford t take an 8 pointer!!) lol!

i fancy hernandez to get some good points
he should get at least 2-3 gameweeks, which would mean fixtures of TOT, WOL, mcy

i'm sure after that time, there will be somebody else in form to swap hernandez out for

        thats my reasoning anyway...

Kyrgiakos is a good fantasy player, he did well for me last year. It's funny that it was Konchesky that most people bought for the same price and he's done bugger all.

Don't think there was ever a Kyrgiakos vs Konchesky option, to be honest.

People brought in Konchesky when he was transferred from FUL at end of August (week 3 or 4?)

Kyrgiakos didn't play a single minute in weeks 1 to 6.

He's only started playing in October due to various injuries (Agger, Johnson, etc.)

Not really an either / or at all, though he has been good (the Greek) in limited time.

I was very tempted by Konchesky myself a few weeks back, but then on further consideration a team that is still defending with Jamie Carragher will never be secure at the back. Like Gary Neville, his time is up.

I wouldn't put him in the Neville class yet.

His 45 minutes against Stoke were absolutely shocking.

He's close, and certainly not playing at a high level, but Neville against Stoke was pathetic.

His distribution was poor, tackling was off, and pace was terrible.

Did you watch the Wolves game?

He was dangerous and is 3M less.

It's a similar debate to the Fabregas vs Nasri one. OBVIOUSLY Fabregas is better than Nasri and OBVIOUSLY Cole is better than Bosingwa, but FOR THE MONEY (even if he does miss 1 out of every 4 games) I can't find any better value in the league.

          He's a superb value purchase.

Disagree, but of course if it's 2 out of 4 - then it's not a great purchase.

I'd say 2 of 3, or 3 of 4 and it is a great value play.

Elmohomady is what, 5M? And managers have no problem benching him away or at difficult matchups, 1 out of every 3 or 4 games.

So Bosingwa, for 0.6M more, plays for the best team in Europe, and isn't good value even if he misses 1 out of every 4?

You are missing the point on rotation / away fixtures. If you have a deep squad with bench players (this game allows 15 players, not 11) you can easily afford Bosingwa at 5.6M knowing that he'll miss 1 in 3 or 1 in 4.

And, frankly, Ferreira is very poor, and Alex / Terry are injured enough to force Ivanovic to CB.

In the remaining 29 league games, I'd be very happy if Bosingwa started 21-22 at 5.6M. VERY happy. I think that's about 100 points.

Haha, true. A little exaggeration to drive home a point never hurt anyone though...

At the moment they are playing at the highest level in Europe I'd say.

The Champions League is such a lottery in the knockout stages with the format that I don't think the best team that season always wins the title, but that's a whole different discussion...

Let me also add that in his only full season at Chelsea - fully fit, Bosingwa scored 156 points in 2900 minutes.

          2900 minutes / 90 minutes = 32 games.

          156 points / 32 games = ~ 4.9PPG.

Here is player ratings from game: http://www.espnstar.com/football/from-the-desk/news/detail/item519606/Chelsea-vs-Wolves-Player-Ratings/

                Ashley Cole: 6.5
Unlike him to be unable to make the final pass count, it was a rare off-day for the ex-Arsenal defender.

                Jose Bosingwa (Off 78'): 7
Looked sharp throughout, despite his recent return from injury.

Not self delusion at all, really.

We can agree to disagree on one thing and one thing only - the amount of playing time he will receive.

If you think it's 2 out of every 4 games, that's fine.

              I think it's closer to 3 of 4.

You can't disagree that he was just as dangerous as Ashley Cole against Wolves, just 3 days ago.

Same manager. This year. This week.

And he's almost 3M less. Sorry man, he's a superb attacking fullback, and he's cheap.

Expensive keeper i know, but Cech with SEVEN(!) clean sheets, 51 points and virtually no rotation risk is something to start thinking about big time if shipping malouda for Fabs - esp if you are retaining drogs as a captain option...
