We delve into the Gameweek 5 data this evening in our first members article of the week. Wayne Rooney’s new role for United comes under analysis, as do Burnley and Leicester’s displays up front, whilst a couple of north London-based frontmen are also placed under the microscope after their contrasting weekend performances.
Nice 50pt week with green arrows. ..slowly working way up.
Good for this week.
.Bego
Chambers. Clyne. Moreno
Siggy. Sterling. DiMaria. Fabregas
Costa. Pelle. AgueroSweet team, wish I had a Saints defender
Cheers Pep how's tricks?
Any pressing decisions for you?Already kneejerked Aaron for Angel...
You aren't alone. Tbf I wish I still had Ramsey for the N London derby
Some of us have 3 😛
Epic call
Had it for 2 weeks for 6 clean sheets. Feeling all smug looking at QPR next.....
Stevie C says hello 😉
Will inevitably be Barton
Forster Clyne. Bertrand????
Bit much no?Not at all.
I suppose til now..so far. .well done!!!
Count the points 😉
No we done mate
Well
😀
Looking good
Very similar to me actually.
Not an amazing score with 42 this week, but had all green arrows and won both my H2H's by around 12-15 points each.
Best defender fixture wise from GW9 onwards? Just curious and thinking ahead...
Coleman
Everton and Arsenal have good runs of fixtures then.
Baines
Baines
I'd already have Baines, should of said oops
Chambers then
Saints defender would be the next option. Even if you have one already
will you do:
Naismith to Welbeck for a hit?Longterm that is a great swap, but not sure it's worth a hit. Unless you have several pressing issues, can just do it next week for free.
Yeah, but if not this week, I'd bring after @CHE
Fair. 🙂
Yes
No.
yes
Cheers
So 3 Yes
I'll wait till fridayI did
Should have lots of opportunities in the NLD
Best strikers if on wildcard?
Costa and Aguero
Costa + 2 of Aguero, Welbz, Pelle and Ulloa.
I need to get rid of Chester, Bojan, Rio and possibly Mata's as can't afford to have bench warmers.
Which looks best?
1) Chester & Bojan for Moore and Ulloa this week leaving 0.0 in bank.
2) Mata > ADM, Rooney > Pelle and Bojan > Ulloa this week for 4 point hit, and play Clyne (QPR) , Wisdom (BUR) and Taylor (sun) and have 1.3 to sort out defence next week
3) Just Mata > ADM, Rooney > Pelle for free.
Thanks2 (I don't mind -4 hits early in season if it will really upgrade team and chance for future points.)
Cheers
Thing is I'll probably then bench Ulloa (cry) this week as I'll have midfield of:
Ramsey (TOT), ADM (WHU), Sterling (EVE) , Fábregas (AVL) Sigurdsson (sun)
Unless you think I should bench Siggy?
2
Super Sunday(WBA vs Burnley) + MNF(Hull vs Newcastle) next weekend looks abysmal, luckily Saturday should make up for it.
Not gonna have players in either of those 2 games. Whatever I get on Saturday then probably a small decline after that.
Join the club. Gonna be the vast majority in that boat I imagine.
I've got Wisdom and Begovic so hoping the Sun + Mon games are een worse than we expect 😉
Will only gave 1 player on Sunday and 0 Monday...
All 11 players on Saturday, 9 in the 3pm kick offs. Good times.
Lol thats terrible. Luckily I'll have Wisdom on the Sunday game and Begovic in the MNF game so will have something to cheer for. Dire fixtures though.
Aright fellas, got some serious struggles trying to find out what my best move would be..
2FT, 0.4ITB.
Krul (Eliott)
Chambers Clyne Wisdom (Lovren, Cameron)
Siggy Sterling Ramsey Cesc (Nasri)
Costa Rooney NaismithNasri > Boyd/Quinn, Naismith > Pelle/Welbz
This sounds good actually. 😀
Really Naismith out? Would think the merseyside derby would be the one match he will thrive in..
If you fancy keeping then Nasri > Boyd/Quinn and ditch Lovren or save the 2nd. Still prefer Welbz/Pelle to Naismith myself but personal preference!
Move on from Lovren.
Naismith -> Pelle
and Nasri -> whomever can facilitate above move.So no Di Mari love?
USA '94, best WC ever
nah Espana 82. Holds a very special place in my heart.
Surely the Aussies are due one?
USA got 2nd place in the bid behind the cheats.
Agree, what's the temperature like at that time of year? Pretty good I would think?
Yes. Yes we are 🙂
Pretty sure the USA got screwed out of that WC vote....they should for sure give it to us.
Yep, USA got 2nd place in the bid behind the cheats.
You mean they outbid you 😉
*outbribed
😯
😆
Rate this bad boy 😉 2 FTs done and dusted last night.
Foster (BUR)
Wilson (NEW), NTaylor (sun), Shackell (wba)
Di Maria (WHU), Fabregas (AVL), Sterling (EVE), Ramsey (TOT)
Costa (c)(AVL), Rooney (WHU), Pelle (vc)(QPR)
Hamer, Wanyama, Hutton, Blackett.9.5, looks rock solid
Lovely team RCA.
Nice team
39 points 2 weeks running. You wait and see 😀
Thanks all, I'm certainly optimistic at this point!Damn, thats an epic team. Blackett -> Duff when you get the chance.
Cheers Ryan. I won't double up (have Shackell) but yeah, Blackett out soonish he really screwed my GW last week 🙁
moore maybe,a few good games coming
playing the same front 7 this week. good luck
Madness to sell Rooney for Kun -4?
Not at all, MR. Fully expecting only 60-65 minutes out of Kun this weekend though.
Kelly likely to play this week? Really need him to
He is miles above Mariappa, but I still think our best back line would put Fryers at LB and Ward back to his natural position at RB leaving Kelly on the bench. When this happens though is anybody's guess - could be in months. If pressed, though, I would expect Kelly to retain his place against Leicester, yeah. He played pretty well at Goodison. Keep an eye on who plays for us midweek - if Kelly is rested then he will surely start.
Sounds good Walsh cheers
Yes
I wouldn't call it madness. Kun will have much more attacking potential if last week was anything to go by.
nah good long term move imo and could pay off immediately
I wouldn't do it this week. Not mad, but not wise imo
Chambers, Wisdom, Duff.
Who don't I play? Need to lose one.
Thanks all.chambers maybe
I'd bench Duff.
@Alegendi
The YAYA problem
Gameweek 3 attacking stats for every player in every position
http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/4671/
and his avg position for that week (higher than Jovetic)
http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/matches/755327/
GW4 he didn't play and last week was against Chelsea so a little tricky to say the least...I'd be more concerned about the GW3 stats than any other stats as non owner..
Yaya will come good against lesser opposition than Chelsea...A) Naisy > Ulloa
B) Ramsey + Chester > ADM + WIsdom -4
Leaning towards A, really not confident on Naismiths gametime and LEI fixtures are good. Only a bit worried that I have no United players, but they are a bit of an unpredictable mess right now.A
Forster
Bertrand Wilson Moreno
Di María Sigurdsson Fábregas Sterling
Diego Costa Agüero Welbeck
Subs: McCarthy Boyd Taylor Duff
2 FTs, 0 in the bank.
Moreno > Chambers/PVA and bank the other FT? Any better options?think so,next 2 for chambers not good however
Yeap that's why I may go PVA and then do Naylor > Chambers in GW8.
yep or wilson>chambers if stoke still conceding every games
Yeap that's the alternative option. Thanks. 🙂
Very sensible
Thanks, let's hope it works out.
yeah that sounds good - everything else looks smashing...wc worked wonders for you 🙂
Yeap couldn't have asked for anything more tbh!
Yes that sounds good. Would definitely prefer Chambers over PvA. Team is looking good, Beavis.
Cheers mate. If I decide not to get Chambers now I will definitely get him in GW 8 anyway. Need to think about it.
Chambers vs. Moreno is a complete wash for this weekend, and of course bench Chambers GW7, but whenever I plan a transfer a couple weeks down the line usually I have some other horrible thing happen and my plans get dashed. Can do it now when you have the luxury to - who knows if you suffer a couple injuries, the intl' break also before GW8, who knows...lots of variables, you will be happy to have Chambers in for the long term 😀 Good luck either way tho!
Yeap you make a good point, will have a think about it til Friday night and decide. Thanks again. 🙂
Moreno out for sure. I had him for 2 GWs and his ass is gone. So important to realise you've made a mistake and rectify quickly despite good fixtures. LFC would concede against a pub team atm.
PVA for me as I would look to get Chambers GW8, and defo roll the 2nd transfer. That was my thinking as well (see above). Cheers RCA.
mccauley lost his spot?no mins yet this season
yeah it seems dawson and lescott is the cb pairing...
what you think about wisdorm?will keep his place?
for now he should retain his spot - whether he can keep it over the course of the season is hard to answer atm....
ok will monitor, don't want him dor now
Is Welbeck to Pelle sensible right now?
no
Don't think there is much in it, honestly.
very sideways...no
Daft..both is very good..
Too sideways I think. NLD is likely to have goals in it.
4 goals in past 3 meeting. Nothing is likely atm
I'm thinking about the two weeks ahead, Spurs @home & Chelsea @ away vs QPR @ home and Spurs @ away.
Perhaps Bego to Forster is a better option right now, or Moreno to Shawcross.
UFPL nightmare this week with the schedule...
+1000000. No idea who to play.
dont know if discussed aleady, but if Alexis starts(John Cross is reporting that he does) tomorrow, does he start v Spurs?
He bloody well better 😡 👿
Think he will 100% start vs Spurs.
yes of course but I don't think he will start
Ospina
Bellerin Hayden Chambers/Ajayi Coquelin
Flamini Diaby
Campbell Rosicky Podolski
Akpom
hopefully...that is what he has but with alexis instead of Akpom
walcott expected back for gw 8 or later?
Won't be back to full fitness until later I don't think.
Yes, think he's back in training imminently.
Full training after int. break (GW8) so wouldn't expect him to start til GW10 or so.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20140922/team-news-monreal-sanogo-and-walcottdon't think he will be up and running 'til gw10
he will be back taining with the squad after internationals so GW9 will be in the squad.
cheers guys, want a mid for that week
I'd like to discuss Felipe Luis, I guess barring an injury he's not going to start right? Although, I hear a number of folks saying that he could come in for Ivanovic. Is this likely do you think?
Mou wont drop Ivan imo...best chance he has is displaying Azpi
Iva's a liability though
Yeah but he also appears to be Mou's best friend and favorite person in the world.
Sooner or later it will be rotation for the three fullbacks I think mate
No. That is pure speculation, at this point, he is very much second choice and I can't think that Mou has said anything for us to think otherwise. They have a very heavy fixture pileup and a pretty thin back line depth-wise. It would take an injury for him to crack the first team, I reckon. However, he has the benefit of probably if there is an injury to ANY of their current back four he can slot in at LB as Ivan can move to CB if a CB gets hurt and Azpil can move to RB if Ivan gets hurt.
Reading Chelsea forums (forgive me for my sins) Ivanovic has been woeful recently in his defensive play. Luis similarly has an attacking eye. For 20million he seems to be a bit of a waste of money but that's peanuts to Chelsea in this day and age I suspect.
Nobody would disagree that Ivan has been woeful defensively, but it's not as though it's been costing Chelsea in the table....Mou clearly giving him that license to go forward so he likely understands that leaves the defense more exposed than if he had him stay home more. It's not as if Ivan is just roaming forward into the box on his own accord - Mou has to be giving him such instructions. Or not. 🙂 Just can't see him making that switch, but I could be well off the mark, mate. Wouldn't be the first time!!
Thanks a lot for your advise. 🙂
he played CLand cup games and he will continue doing that
Night all. Thanks for the advice.
night Beavis 🙂
good nigth beavis
So after all the discussion today along with some reading and reflection I've decided we're proper fecked.
🙁Reality dawns 😛
Chin up mate. It takes time. There's no magic switch. Next season top 4I'm not ruling out top 4.
It's possible. Unlikely
Neither you or the Arse are in any better shape than we are ATM. Only Chelsea will pull away from the pack.
Ah so you're not properly fecked. 2nd place in the bag
Well we could finish anywhere from 2nd to 6th if it goes wrong. The point is that I don't see us making a real push this season. And we'll probably need to bed in quite a few signings next season as well so it's probably not realistic next season either. So yes, fecked.
top 4 100% imo
That's a big call. Top 3 basically a done deal imo. Liverpool, utd, saints, evrton, spuds etc. vying for one place
Arsenal aren't any better off than the teams you've listed. In fact they're worse off than we are.
worse off? arent better than any of those teams?
I see nothing to suggest you're better than us, Everton, Liverpool or even Saints if they have a flyer. Don't see how that's a controversial statement.
we haven't lost a game in the prem, pool have lost 3, everton 2...saints are playing better than us atm but we all know that arsenal will finish above them come season end...
you guys have won one game in 5 and have had a very easy schedule...Early days. We've been bedding in a new team. You should've lost to Leicester and ran into some luck in that Villa were puking all over themselves at the weekend.
And meanwhile we're bedding in a new manager, players and system/philosophy. I would bet the house on us finishing above you if I had an extra house to bet.why not just bet the one house you have that you will finish above us if you are so confident? 😉
surely an easier thing to do than eating your hate? 😛I will eat my hate if yous finish above us.
😆
Sigh. They really aren't bro
Not 100% but likely.
anything else would be a major travesty.
Of course it would be. But it's not outside the realm of possibility. I'd be somewhat shocked if we didn't TBH though.
So we've gone for you're completely fecked to you'll finish 2nd but 4th nearly guaranteed. As a pool supporter I know about fecked and that's not it 😉
No I expect us to scrape 3rd or 4th. With our income we should never be where you lot were, mate.
Would you sack LVG if he does not make it?
😯
well, at least you have Blackett 🙂
Silver lining in every cloud eh. Gulp. 🙁
blackett is still solid...
Also i support Newcastle so you can get in line at the bar. The seats are for relegation prospects.
cheers walsh nz you convinced me to drop Shaw, was gonna go Moore but went Wisdom mainly coz West Brom game on tv 🙂
Cheers mate. Hope I didn't lead you astray, I am pretty crap at this game 🙁
Just didnt wanna drop Shaw given he finally nailed on but lets face it Man U ain't exactly tight. Glad kept RVP and Baines anyway so was right decision whatever happens
My thinking exactly. Good luck! 🙂
A) Pelle and Silva
B) Aguero and Boyd
?b
a
Keep Sanchez or drop and be able to get Pelle up top with ,Aguero and Costa
P.S i also have Forster and BertrandKeep and get Ulloa
keep
Play Naismith 3 4 3 or schneiderlin 3 5 2 this week?
leaning towards schneriderlin at this stage as they play QPR however I will need to use my FT albrighton > schneiderlin to bring him in
Schneiderlin, obvious
Rooney or ADM??
angelito
Personally I think neither might be best.
- Why bother with ManU attack?
Is United attack even necessary? The goals are likely to be spread around numerous premium priced assets.
Falcao 11m
RVP 12.4m
Rooney 10.4m
ADM 9.8m
Mata 8.8m
Herrera 7.3m
Of these 6 players I don't believe we can pinpoint a particular individual that is likely to have significantly higher goal involvement than any of the other 5. For this reason I don't believe any United player represents good value. For example at Chelsea we know Costa is going to score the bulk of the goals with the whole attack revolving around him as the lone striker. By contrast United's trifecta system with CM's bombing forward increases the competition for FPL points within the side.A very good point. I think Di Maria would be the one I'd most likely get. I have no United players in my side at the moment.
Falcao and AdM, clearly.
Well obviously RVP and Rooney won't score goals or assist anymore. Herrera is just a DM who won't do anything and Mata will stay on the bench all season and not do anything at all.
One of Rooney/RVP will be dropped. Herrera will as well if he continues to poach ala Mata instead of doing his job winning the battle in midfield, which Mata's already been dropped for so.
Blimey, I think you are a bit too sure of yourself.
I've not been wrong yet have I.
You shouldn't let anything get to your head. Without sound reasoning nobody can be right all of the time.
I'm really not. I'm just assessing where we're at and the seemingly obvious Big Lou will have to make if his balls are indeed as big as everyone says they are.
*obvious changes
Will you drop your team capt?or let fletch play? I don't see rooney being dropped
Clueless
you should have 1 i think for the next few games
For what? coverage? I think its impossible to cover Uniteds goals with so many good attackers
rooney 2 goals,2 assists in five games not bad,di maria playing well also but i get what you mean
I think its different now with the new signings having been bedded in and now starting. Rooney and RVP have diminished in importance I think. I don't believe anyone particularly stands out.
I don't have any United players, and I'm not particularly bothered by it at the moment. Falcao appeals to me but not quite yet.
See I think Kun appeals more because clearly he is the main goal scorer at Citeh. Nobody can say who the main goal scorer is at United, there are too many.
I mean Kun is my favorite player in the Prem. I love that man and will always have him as long as he's in the league and healthy, you are preaching to the choir 🙂
Yeah I'm thinking Costa, Kun and Pelle/Welbeck is the way to go. Anyone who is likely to have a high goal involvement in their team, particularly if they are high scoring teams is the better way to go.
i have 3.... must hit some points!
They will be cannibalising each others points for all Uniteds goals. Not a fan of tripling up for this very reason.
Decide to sell your only utd attacker. Then find reasoning to suit 😉
I haven't decided anything. I believe I raise a very good point however.
Totally agree with this. Its one reason why I am not jumping on the DiMaria wagon and also sold Rooney yesterday. They may become better value later in the season if injury strikes and other top teams rotate more, but at the moment its hard to go for anyone of those 3 strikers when there are players like Pelle and Welbeck nailed-on and performing well for much cheaper.
As for the midfield options, Mata is surely not an option any more due to being benched, and I doubt Herrera will have any consistent output to justify that price over someone like Tadic who will play further forward and without any risk of being benched.
I can sort of understand the clamor for ADM, but he's not a goal-scorer by trade (only 4 all of last season with RM) so I see his two strikes as anomalies personally. His number of shots and touches in the box would suggest this is a fair conclusion. If you buy him for his assist potential I think Fabregas and Ramsey are both better options with better fixtures soon, not to mention the returning Walcott.
In summary, there's too much value in the 8.5-9.0m midfield and 7.5m striker brackets to betaking risks with United players when there is still a lot of uncertainty with how they will set up going forwards.I agree with you about rooney but not di maria. I think the English league will be easier for ADM to score goals in lots of opposition teams are gung ho.
I think you make some decent arguments but sort of miss your own point. ADM is a must pick because he will start every game, unlike the front 3 IMHO, and is everything that's good about united in attack. United will score goals and ADM will be heavily involved. If you want some united exposure, he's the only player I can see any value.
And I'd love see you show me some value in the 6.5-9.0m bracket outside of Sterling. The competition to be amongst the goals at United makes them all poor value when everyone is fit. 5 of those 6 will start every week and they are all likely to be involved spreading the points amongst them.
"How do you solve a problem like DI Maria"
The moderators need lessons in writing a good headline.
I am likely to switch to ADM because he is a midfielder and not one of the precious strikers. That way its not as risky to pick him. Falcoa and RVP are horrendously overpriced. Rooney may pull through from deeper but its safer to observe for now as your point is valid.Completely agree with you.
I think they are a weaker version of last seasons City but with more expensive players.Di Maria will be involved in most goals imo. I think RVP/Falcoa will be the highest goal scorers.
There, that's half the options gone 🙂Any quantitative analysis of this idea? I think it's potentially interesting, but without any numbers it's a pretty big claim without any evidence at all...
Falcao, ADM, Herrera are new signings who have made an immediate impact and have featured on the score sheet. RVP, Rooney and Mata were the main goal scorers last year. Therefore we now have twice as many players who are capable of scoring goals and getting assists. Based on the few games where all 6 have been involved 'quantitative analysis' is obviously limited. I'm using another form of analysis, that of observation.
Rooney→costa
Worth a hit???
Cheers!Definitely.
Where am I going wrong? 25 points this week and ranked over 1 million overall for the season.
Krul Mannone
Lovren Dier Chambers (Wisdom) (Hutton)
Hazard Ramsey Siggurdson Henderson (Cattermole)
Costa Aguero Adebayorplayers that need to go quick:lovren, dier, hendo, ade
Lack of Sterling IMO
look at your players that blanket two weeks i a row.... Adebayor, Henderson, Dier, Lovren...
Also, Krul. Gotta get Krul out.
this was a bad week for me as well.
allot of upsets and away wins this week caused some real problems.
