Not a bad debut for half an hour, was it? Sergio Aguero’s star turn at the Etihad Stadium has many a Fantasy manager scrambling for a way to fit him in their shiny new Wildcard team ahead of Gameweek 2. According to Roberto Mancini, he’s not even 100% fit yet. Let’s hope they give him penalties, too. Here’s the Scout Notes from last night:

Mancini Tries a 4-4-2
Roberto Mancini dropped Mario Balotelli to the bench for the home game with Swansea. Adam Johnson took the Italian’s place as new boy Gael Clichy started at left-back at the expense of Aleksander Kolarov as Mancini started with a 4-2-3-1. While there’s no doubt about the star of the show, it was noticeable that Sergio Aguero replaced Nigel de Jong upon his introduction.

This allowed City to play him alongside Edin Dzeko up top in a 4-4-2, with Yaya Toure bombing forward from a regular central midfield position. Not to take anything away from Aguero’s performance, of course, but this change in personnel and shape from Mancini helped City really take the game to the Swans. It will be interesting to see if this becomes a more prominent formation for City over the months ahead- certainly, it makes them a better proposition going forward and Aguero has already shown what returns he can offer.

Mancini’s introduction of another new boy, Stefan Savic, also saw another alteration- Joleon Lescott movd to left-back and Gael Clichy played at left midfield in place of the withdrawn Adam Johnson.

Swans Keep on Passing
Brandan Rodgers kept to his passing principles last night. Swansea had the greater possession at the Etihad Stadium and made more passes than any Premier League team over the course of Gameweek1 , but a lack of cutting edge saw the Swans swept aside. Michael Vorm’s debut in the Swansea was almost as eye-catching as Aguero’s- the new signing from Utrecht made an incredible 12 saves, with some of them outstanding stops.

Sweansea’s 4-3-3 was pretty lop-sided; Scott Sinclair was higher and wider up the pitch on the left in comparison to Nathan Dyer on the other flank. Dyer was far narrower and deeper, which enabled Angel Rangel to bomb forward down the flank on numerous occasions.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Taarabt - did he play well against bolton, trying to decide if he is worth the 6.5m. I would have thought 1st home game against bolton would be his perfect chance to shine

perhaps the money is better spent????

reading their fans forum, there seems alot of disquiet about lack of summer investment at qpr..they seem an unhappy ship right now..

plus remember this time last year..nolan was ahead of adam as he had been championship player of the year with former epl experience..not that he did badly by any means but adam overshone him...u may be better looking at sinclair or hoolahan

Calling Chelsea experts. Currently have Bosingwa. Do I:

    a) stick with him, and deal with rotation when necessary
    b) use my spare 0.5m to upgrade to Alex
    c) downgrade a mid (such as N’Zog) to get Cashley in, and therefore not have to worry

Think im going to do this with my defence, Playing 343 mostly

    2 Guaranteed starters = cole,Kompany

With Enrique,De Laet and Simpson rotating

What you reckon? This will free up funds elsewhere for me and i have Cech in goal so my Defence wise i look quite strong

why is nobody picking smalling in any RMTs?

Surely, it is amazing to only spend 22.0m for a big 4 defense!
      Kompany (6.0)
      Smalling (5.5)
      Enrique (5.0)
      Bosingwa (5.5)

Is it too much? it does not seem a lot of money for what it is!

Ok a few risks, a few bandwagons climbed on and I'm badly missing a Gooner but options to change a few players in 3 weeks time...so...

    Given, Vorm

    Kompany, Boswinga, Enrique, Senderos, Brown,

Silva, Sessignon, Sinclair, Tchoyi, 5.5 m (at the mo Hoolahan as I think of all the promoted clubs, Norwich will score the most)

Rooney, Aguero or Chelsea forward tbc, Suarez

Scope to get RVP in after 3 weeks....midfield a bit weak and a few too many hunches in there but cheap players playing practically oop could come good! and if not, there are still some bargains around the 6.0 mark

Senderos?Brown will prob get injured and Boswinga rotated but we cross that bridge when we get there!

    Any thoughts?

Question about the new FPL site format.
I seem to remember last year that the points breakdown for each player was more detailed. For a player you do have,if you hover over their points score , it will tell you "3 bonus, 1 assist" = 6 points etc.
But for a player you don't have , you could pull up their "info " button and it would break down how they got their points that week. An example would be Vorm ,mentioned in the article. He made 12 saves but let in 4 goals. Not having him, I try to to get more info, but it only says 3 points.
Is this less detailed than last year? Or is the site still tweaked?

Anyone have thoughts on Moses vs. Hoolahan vs. Formica? Pick two.

I'm looking for a fairly expensive midfielder and thinking Tim Cahill. Everything makes sense, especially against QPR and Everton's early start. But would I be better off going for a cheaper mid and getting lovely Leighton baines instead?
