As if out of sympathy for the Fantasy Premier League, or podcast recording software crashed at the death this week. Finished. Kaput.

Panic ensued – hands on head there were cries of “I can’t go through that again” from host Mark as I desperately attempted to recover our lost words. Luckily, temporary files restored, our fifty fourth episode was rescued and rebuilt like Ledley King’s knee. Hopefully it won’t collapse again next week – like Ledley King’s knee.

Within it you’ll find unusually muted tones as Mark and I dissect the events or rather “non-events” of the weekend. Frustrations vented, this week’s broadcast picks up to its usual pace and departs on an optimistic note.

Listen in and share our pain.

Then Suarez vs Aguro? Why not Torres and swap To Aguero later as his fixtures get better and he 100% starts?

Aguero not guaranteed to start so leave alone for now.

I'm going Rooney, Torres, Suarez. If Torres stinks it up in the two mint home games, he'll come straight out for a fit and firing Aguero in GW4! Got N'Zogbia in midfield for Villa coverage.

Was too worried about Chelsea rotation this week to plonk in either Torres or Malouda.

Originally thought Bent was the only solution but villa are the new Brum. Have so many painful memories of zigic last season. Made some changes and would appreciate feedback.

    Hilarious (Given)

    Kompany Fabio Alex Warnock (Senderos)

    Lampard Silva Moses Sinclair (Fox)

    Roonpig Suarez (AJ)

Team seems about as balanced as I've ever had it. Still tempted to go with Baines or Cashley. Both a shoe in for cleanies and bonus pts minimum.

I like the look of option 3 the most (very similar to mine). But I don't think Silva and Yaya should be in the same team, I would trade Yaya for N,zog due to Villas fixtures and use the 0.5 to upgrade another mid / def or bank for later.

I notice you have gone for Surman as your cheap mid. I currently have Dyer from Swansea but I'm undecided. What made you go for him?

I'm looking at it from a long term point of view, I think Silva will out score Yaya over the course of the season. Yaya will play a more defensive role against bigger teams and when City play 2 up front IMO.

    Morning all.

So, looking at the match reports for last night's Europa League, looks like there are a few talking points.

Hughes and Hangeland played together in the centre and Senderos was benched - do we think this is simply rotation and he will feature in the league? Did Kelly do enough at right back to keep Hughes in the middle and therefore keep Senderos out?

Neither Dembele OR Johnson started up front - I suppose we can take from this that Dembele isn't fit/fancied by Jol and Johnson was rested

What about Briggs? He played well apparently - could this mean he will get pitch time ahead of Riise or will he push on to his much touted left wing spot?

    What do you guys think?

Mikel? Good player but doesn't do what gets the points.
      Moses? Bandwagon IMO.
N'Zog? Yet to do anything at Villa.
Aguero? May not start the game, and may only get few minutes if at all, waste of 11 points if thats the case.
Rooney? Tough fixtures coming up yet he's fixture proof so thats fair.
Other than that good team. Though Hangeland to Riise would be wise.

I wouldn't want Mikel in my team. Too much of a rotation risk and his mind may not be fully on the job since his father has been abducted.

Aguero almost certainly won't start, and when he come on then it's unlikely that he'll be up against a bunch of tired defenders like Swansea were last week. He's definitely on my watchlist though.

N'Zog looked hapless last week. Until Villa show signs of attacking intent and strength then I'd put him on my watchlist too.

Your lack of Chelsea coverage is worrying given their fixtures, and tripling up on Man City seems a tad optimistic.

      So 6/10, tops. 🙂

Probably lost on the last page......

Top tip: If you’re running Windows you can download a free program called expatshield (Google it) which will give you a Virtual Private Network with an IP address in the UK.

Then you can watch Match of the Day live, or use the BBC iPlayer to watch it when it suits you.

I've been using it for a while now and it works perfectly. No viruses either.

Er.... expatshield gives you access to all the UK TV channels available on the internet as if you were living in the UK.

Match of the Day is the EPL highlights programme broadcast on BBC1 on a Saturday (And Match of the Day 2 is the highlights programme for the matches on Sunday).

A Virtual Private Network is... probably beyond your comprehension. 🙂

I comprehend networking just fine. It's the UK channels that I am unfamiliar with.
I'll try this out though. Thanks for the info.

Looking at Bos aregument....some thoughts I found on a blog...

“the modern game allows two types of full-backs”, your Ashley Cole or your Ivanovic, however the risk of playing two attacking full-backs “at the same time in football today is quite high”. AVB is primarily focussing on balance here: looking at Barcelona, their right hand side is far more dominant than their left for obvious reasons. Messrs Alves and Messi have more licence to attack than Pedro and whoever slots in at left-back.

    http://plainsofalmeria.co.uk/2011/06/26/avb-its-433-but-not-as-we-know-it/

So he could be rotated? Ivan more solid? Just not sure about risking Torres AND Bos! But is tempting..

Bosingwa is a right back, Ivanovic is a centre back, Bosingwa will play at right back as that is his position. AVB played Bosingwa at right back in pre season and Ivanovic at centre back, if Ivanovic is more solid surely he'd be preferred against Stoke? Seeing as though hes wasn't, Bosingwa is surely the preferred choice at right back. And Ashley Cole is a better full back than Abidal and Bosingwa and more balanced than Alves, he'll be defensive when Bosingwa drives forwards and vice versa. For the majority of the season our back four will be:
Bosingwa Terry Cole with Ivanovic, Alex and Luiz competing for the other CB role.
Bosingwa isn't under any threat of rotation currently so how can he be a risk?

A fair few assertions there. Ivan played RB last season and clearly can play there very well, he is not "just" a CB. Having watched Bos I also think saying he is more solid than Alves is damning with faint praise, he is still a very attacking full back!

He clearly is a slight risk at best. I am not saying I think he will definately be rotated I am just saying he could be. They must have RB competition and it seems it comes from Ivan. Careful thinking anything is that cut and dried! But you could well be right, he may have the spot now and I would be pleased by this! I am just wondering and thinking it through.

one thing is for sure, he was excellent away to Stoke. better than Cole. so he sure won't lose that spot at the moment because of form.

He's definitely under threat from Ivan. Whether he is actually a right back or not, he has played there a lot and keeping all those centre halves happy won't be easy so I don't think Bosingwa is nailed on.

However I do think the shirt is his for now and hopefully that will last at least the next couple of games!
