As if out of sympathy for the Fantasy Premier League, or podcast recording software crashed at the death this week. Finished. Kaput.

Panic ensued – hands on head there were cries of “I can’t go through that again” from host Mark as I desperately attempted to recover our lost words. Luckily, temporary files restored, our fifty fourth episode was rescued and rebuilt like Ledley King’s knee. Hopefully it won’t collapse again next week – like Ledley King’s knee.

Within it you’ll find unusually muted tones as Mark and I dissect the events or rather “non-events” of the weekend. Frustrations vented, this week’s broadcast picks up to its usual pace and departs on an optimistic note.

Listen in and share our pain.

I would downgrade Cole to Alex/+.5 when Luiz is back and upgrade Hoolahan to Jarvis as Wolves rotate nicely with Wigan. I like it though even if you didn't take heed 🙂

        Reo coker-No
AJ-I'm not so sure the love for him will last long. I might be wrong though. For the same price you get Holt that's on peno's.

    http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/18/samir-nasri-manchester-city-debut

If Nasri is really going to get double his wages at Arsenal then surely Man City are taking the mic with these new money rules coming in...or Arsenal pay peanuts..

Mind you I can imagine both!

    Who to bench?
    Vorm or Ruddy?
    Moses or Taarabt?

Currently leaning towards Ruddy and Taarabt on the bench due to the odds for Clean Sheet/To Score.

On a more serious note, I just think that this season with playing 2 strikers, he is going to play a bit deeper. Last season, he was in the hole behind a lone striker so had license to roam.

    Which is better:
    1. Tim Cahill, Taarabt, Graham
    or
    2. Walcott, Etuhu, Saha

Basically I have Baines already and want another Everton player; an attacking one. I will chose between Cahill and Saha - I just can't at the moment.

In option 2 Etuhu would be bench fodder in the same way that Graham is in option 1.

    2 costs an extra £1m.

Your midfield looks a bit light in my opinion. Maybe downgrade Cole to Bos or Alex and use the money to upgrade a mid. I'm not sold on Adam this year, at 9 million he is expensive and not sure he will reap many fantasy rewards playing with the likes of Suarez, Carroll and Downing.

I'm not sure why Rooney is getting so much love at the moment. He represented poor value last season and Hernandez is back soon. United also have difficult fixtures and although some players are more fixture-proof than others Rooney was the architypcal 'flat-track bully' when he tore the prem apart two years ago, with most of his high scoring against the likes of Wolves.

Similarly, I don't see why there is so much caution over Aguero. Granted it was only Swansea, but he is clearly different class to the likes of Balotelli and Dzeko so there is no reason why Mancini will hold him back now he has shown he can hit the ground running in the premiership. Plus City have great fixtures.

I guess it's due to the way he's playing. I've opted for Young for the time being. I think it's important to have some sort of United attack so went for the least expensive option, for now.

Games for Utd at OT should't be seen as difficult they're lethal at home. Rooney's playing up front until Hernandez is back when he'll prob revert back to a deeper role, when that happens I'll be delighted with the extra £2mil

Okay, thanks...I understand the case for Rooney better now. I still don't begin to understand the case against Aguero, though. Why should Mancini prefer to start with a side which struggled for over an hour when Aguero transformed the show? There is no logical reason why he (or we) should exclude him.

I'd drop Cashley personally, due to Cech not playing so their defence a bit weaker therefore CS chances not quite as good. I have Bosingwa, but gone with a good sub player in Senderos.

      Not yet convinced with Holt.

Midfield, although quite cheap, seems a good valued mid, in Moses, Sinclair and potentially Sess.

As it's always and before the board gets unusable, what do you guys think? I'm pretty happy with it at:

    Given (Ruddy)
Bosingwa / Kompany / Baines (Senderos / Simpson)
Young / Yaya / Hoolahoop / Sinclair (Moses)
    Saha / Torres / Bent

I think Bosingwa will start the next 2 games and if he's surprisingly benched, Senderos is a good sub to be brought in

Torres is a punt as he's looking like the Torres of the Liverpool days + Chelsea have 2 good home games to give him his chance.

Saha + Bent have great fixtures so worth the chance.

I keep hearing Cahill to Liverpool for £17 million. If it's true, then great, I'd have him, but not at Bolton.

I wouldn't have both Silva + Aguero and think it's too early for Aguero personally.

I think you could do better than DJ as well.

Keepers are too expensive, I'd get rid of one and save 1.0

Yeah pretty solid ... I would want some chelsea for their next 2 games though ... Ashley young to Lampard ... Foster to Vorm/Ruddy and Cahill to £4.5m defender and I like it a lot

Comes down to personal preference really, here are my thoughts:

Given/Foster - Toyed with the idea myself, a larger amount invested in your goalkeepers could return well, perhaps BPS could be on the cards, personally I prefer the rotation between Given/Begovic for that price. Especially with Begovic getting a whopping 10 points last week.

Cahill - Look at his next 6 fixtures, if you still want him then good luck to you.

Tiote - One of the better 4.5 mids but will see a lot of yellows, you have been warned!

DJ - Proven in the Premier League sure, but away to Everton...I think there's better at 5.5, Holt maybe at home?

3 City players - They're the best of the bunch I'd say but I think 3 is overkill, lose one, Bolton away isn't an easy victory and City were largely dominated by Swansea before the second half.

Look at some Villa/Everton attacking players, both have very nice fixtures.

Sinclair short term, Taarabt for the season.

If Sinclair is going to do anything, it's home to Wigan. He looked lively against City when he had the ball and I think they will score this weekend.

Taarabt away to Everton this weekend - QPR unlikely to score more than 1 tops, I would wait and see how they play after their trouncing last week.

He didn't have a full break like most other players...he even shortened his holiday to get back to the team. There have already been fears highlighted in the media regarding burnout (although they were aimed at long term)...so there is some validity in the theory but from your comment I guess you;re suggesting no...so thanks..

This Fat Frank issue is really starting to bother me.

At the beginning I had Malouda but after his ineffectual display against Stoke not to mention his loss of form towards the end of last season, I decided to make some changes and went for Lamps as my Chelsea attacking coverage.

However...at the beginning of the season I had written off Lamps as a "has been" am I correct or am I looking far too much into both his age and long term injury last term. I know that it's time that will answer that question for us all but what does everyone else think? Is he a fat has been of still the main FF scoring midfeilder in the prem? On his day he is lethal and has been so good to me in the past, sticking him as captain in the 7-1 demolition of villa where he scored 4 goals was a particular highlight of our times together.

My other option for me would be to downgrade Lamps and a couple of others with minimal disruption and get Torres as my Chelsea attacking threat to accompany Rooney and Bent. That option isn't without it's own issues, I mean yeah Torres looked sharp against Stoke but is that enough to say he's heading back to his best. The guy has been out of sorts for about 2 years, is he worth the 11 million?

At the end of the day you have to have some Chelsea attack for the coming two GW's, but this transitional time for Chelsea is making it increasingly difficult to make a straight decision. Other than Lampard, everyone else seems to be either rotation risks (Benayoun, Kalou, Anelka,Drogba,Torres) ineffectual (Malouda,Ramires,Mikel) or suspended (Sturridge)

What does everyone think...trust in Lamps or is he just too much cash for a 33 year old?

        +1

Chelsea play WB & Norwich at home over the next 2 GWs, he's also only owned by 3% and he's on both penalties and set pieces. If you were ever going to take a chance on Lamps, now would be the time.

I was originally thinking Alex but I'm worried because of Invanovic being back. Also, I have this thing where when I (C) a player on a team, I dont like to have a defender on it if at all possible. Mkaes it way more enjoyable to watch the game when I dont care if they let one in, just only if they score a crap load of goals lol. I know, its a wierd personal preference but what the hell, you got to do what ya got to do.

You got a good team tho, a different approach than me but equally ready to bring home the points.

I think 12Mil for him is too much. He will score big some weeks but i think he will score the same overall as 7.5 - 9 mil midfielder. He is however the only nailed on starter in midfield and ofcourse penalty taker which does make him more appealing. Perhaps have him for now and when it becomes more clear about their midfield then have a change....long term i think not. Good luck and watch him prove me completely wrong! lol

I'd feel nervous about having Fabio and Bosingwa in the same defence as both will be prone to rotation in a couple weeks. You won't want to have to "waste" a transfer changing them when you could have bigger problems, for example when Aguero breaks a leg 😉
