As if out of sympathy for the Fantasy Premier League, or podcast recording software crashed at the death this week. Finished. Kaput.

Panic ensued – hands on head there were cries of “I can’t go through that again” from host Mark as I desperately attempted to recover our lost words. Luckily, temporary files restored, our fifty fourth episode was rescued and rebuilt like Ledley King’s knee. Hopefully it won’t collapse again next week – like Ledley King’s knee.

Within it you’ll find unusually muted tones as Mark and I dissect the events or rather “non-events” of the weekend. Frustrations vented, this week’s broadcast picks up to its usual pace and departs on an optimistic note.

Listen in and share our pain.

Boys after countless amounts of advice, i could really do with some. Who to bench this week with the following team

    Given (Vorm)
    Distin, Bosingwa, Kompany (Simpson, Gabbidon)
    Nzobgia, Moses, Downing, Yaya (Sinclair????)
    Saha, Rooney, Torres

Now Moses plays Sinclair... Naturally its out of the two, but its a flapping hard call on who to bench. Surely cannot play both right???

tbh i'd rather bench yaya or downing than one of those 2. Both have easy fixtures, both likely to score.

Interesting suggestions. Benching Yaya would be borderline criminal in my mind lol - As for Downing well according to reports he will be matched up against new comer Jenkinson which means he will be wearing 4 pairs of jocks! Got a feeling he will absolutely savage him down that wing which is why i brought him in plus his a bit of a differential. Im not jumping on the baines bandwagon.. too pricey and Distin is a PPI machine and will do the defensive cover required i need from Everton.

Having Aston Villa and Chelsea defensive coverage:

    Given + Ashley Cole = 12.5mil
    Hilario + Warnock = 9.5 mil

Now that extra 3 mil will go towards some 5 mil defender > Baines. Sorted.

Hilario will play GWs 2+3, Ruddy plays GW 4 then get rid of Hilario for Given in GW 5. That's the plan. Now Hilario, no howlers please, I'd like to think that you are at least capable of keeping your place in the team for 2 weeks?

Any advice on best DF for 4.5 or less. Already have Senderos, Simpson. Thinking of kicking out Bosingwa which will give me no Chelsea defensive coverage. Not convinced that they will keep many clean sheets under AVB who is renowned for an attacking style in Portugal. Have Torres for Chels coverage.

decent balance and a could spread of representation from the main clubs.

      concerns:

boswinga (excellent short term but there are no guarantees that he will keep his place once all chelseas def are fit)

nani (will become part of rotation with utd's MF)

Silva (excellent player but with aguero and possibly nasri on the seen is points "could" be negatively effected)

Johnson and surman represent decent value in those positions but i expect that they might not be your first choices - like you say, probably not much else around.

      just my opinion 😉

There's an awesome story behind it!

The story begins on Isla Nublar, a small island 120 miles off the coast of Costa Rica. A large group of construction workers and animal handlers offload a large container, the creature within unseen. During the process, the animal attempts to escape, an act which leads to a mass panic, and the death of one of the workers.

The narrative jumps forward to an Amber mine in the Dominican Republic, where we learn that miners extracting amber are involved with a genetic-engineering company called InGen.

From here, we jump to a paleontological excavation in Montana, where we are introduced to our main heroes, Dr. Alan Grant, and his assistant Ellie Sattler, as they slowly uncover the fossilized remains of a VELOCIRAPTOR, perhaps nature's most lethal and cunning predator to date, a beautiful specimen evolved to kill.

The dig is cut short by the sudden appearance of Grant and Sattler's main sponsor, the elderly and eccentric billionaire, John Hammond. He invites them over to endorse his latest project, a remote island resort, where he claims "the attractions are guaranteed to drive children out their minds!"

Grant and Sattler are acompanied by two other characters-the equally eccentric chaos theorist Dr. Ian Malcolm, and Hammond's lawyer, Donald Genarro. As they arrive by helicopter, they are treated to a unique spectacle of living, breathing DINOSAURS, creatures beyond your wildest imagination, resurrected from the dead and roaming a special zoological environment built to sustain them! Just the sight of these mighty beasts, a towering BRACHIOSAURUS accompanied by a herd of PARASAUROLOPHUS is enough to leave the stunned visitors breathless, save for Gennaro's offhand comment: "we're gonna make a fortune off this place...a fortune...".

Later, as they arrive at the island's central resort and control facility, the visitors are given a brief tour of the process. InGen has succeeded in cloning animals from simple strands of DNA salvaged from mosquitoes fed on dinosaur blood, and preserved for untold millions of years inside fossilized amber. The group is shown the egg-incubation room, just in time to witness the birth of a baby VELOCIRAPTOR, a sight that deeply disturbs Grant. He demands to see where the adults are housed...

...and we are shown the special containment facility seen in the introduction, a fortress of electrified fences and dense foliage, all that separates the humans from the most dangerous creature on the island. Grant is witness to the daily feeding of the animals: a cow is lowered into the pit, only to be stripped clean within a moment. The audience is spared the gruesome sight of this daily job...

The group prepares to experience the theme park's central attraction, the DINOSAUR TOUR, in which visitors embark on a safari-like tour of the park, on special electrified Ford Explorers. Grant, Sattler, Malcolm and Gennaro are accompanied by Hammond's two grand children: Lex and her little brother Tim. As the group heads off, Hammond settles into the main control room where his two computer experts, Arnold and Nedry, manage the complex infrastructure of the park.

The tour is largely un-eventful: the T-REX and DILOPHOSAURUS-two extremely dangerous carnivores- refuse to reveal themselves to the eager tourists. A sick triceratops is also encountered, tended to by the park vetrinarians, whom Sattler leaves the group to help out with. An approaching tropical storm forces the tour to be cut short, as most of the staff leave by ship for the mainland.

In the meantime, we learn the true colours of Nedry-hired to sabotage the park and steal dinosaur embryoes for InGen's close competitor, BioSyn-an act he carries out, which results in the failure of security systems throughout the park: the electric cars break down, and the electrified fences shut down.

In the film's most thrilling sequence, a T-REX escapes it's enclosure and proceeds to wreck the tour vehicles. Gennaro is eaten, Malcolm is critically injured, but Grant escapes with the terrified children. In the meantime, a lost and confused Nedry, trying to meet his contact, encounters a venom-spitting DILOPHOSAURUS, and justice is dealt.

Sattler and the Park Warden Muldoon arrive in a jeep at the site of the T-REX attack to find Malcolm and everyone else disappeared. The T-REX returns to give chase to the jeep down the road in an exciting car chase of an action sequence, but the humans eventually escape.

Grant and the kids spend the night sheltering up a tree, wake up to find a BRACHIOSAURUS grazing nearby. Once more, we are given the oppurtunity to appreciate the beauty and majesty of these creatures.

With Malcolm dying and park systems still offline, Arnold is forced to take drastic action and reset the system-an act that has the unintended consequences of freeing the RAPTORS from their enclosure. Arnold, Muldoon and Sattler attempt to restore power, only to have Arnold and Muldoon outsmarted and killed by the cunning creatures.

After witnessing a GALLIMIMUS stampede, Grant and the kids make it back to the main resort complex, only to find it abandoned. Grant leaves the kids in the main dining area, and tries to contact other survivors. In the meantime, Lex and Tim are cornered by a pair of RAPTORS inside the main kitchen. One is trapped inside the freezer, but the other gives chase to the kids.

Meeting up in the control room, Grant, Sattler, and the kids attempt to restore power and communications to the park, but are trapped in by the same RAPTOR. In the nick of time, the security systems and phone lines are brought back online.

Eventually, our heroes are cornered by the last two RAPTORS inside the main atrium. Just as all is lost, the T-REX crashes in and attacks the RAPTORS, buying enough time for the small group of humans to escape.

As the humans evacuate the island by helicopter, the T-REX gives a final victory roar behind a falling banner proclaiming: WHEN DINOSAURS RULED THE EARTH!!!

The best points/mil are found with high valued defenders over high valued mids/fwds.

Cole/Baines are amongst the highest in points/mil.

Are you sure that's right? I seem to remember looking in the projections and the best cheap defenders have points/mil of well over 20, Baines can't match that...

out of those 3 the only gamble is aguero.

will he start? will he continue the form he showed in the first game?

Problem is, as soon as he does start his stock will riseand squeezing him in may become difficult - for me, rightly or wrongly, i have chosen aguero over silva and yaya for those reasons.

peronally, i dont think thats too bad at all.

There's 6 good forwards (Aguero, RvP, Rooney, Suarez, Torres, Bent) and you've got three of them. That's all you can do, lady luck will say what the best combo is.

Yeah, Hoolohan to larsson/Sessegnon I suppose but I think the Sun/New game will be tight. Don't fancy having 2 SUN! Personally I think Hooligan will do well over the season.

Other option is Boswinga-->BK with 0.5m in kitty? I can see Boas rotating sooner or later where BK is nailed on.

Maybe upgrade Simpson/Senderos so that I don't have more rotation worries?

          Yeah all viable options.

I must admit I still don't know too much about Hoolahan so he is a wait and see for me.

I think Bosingwa is a good option for a couple of gameweeks.

Senderos is a slight worry for me, I have him but he was on the bench in Europe last night. I hope he was just rested? Can't see why he's be dropped after a cleansheet?

despite there next 2 fixtures, i think you need some form of city attack and defence.

you aint going to get that without downgrading surarez or roonpig (if you are prepared to do that)

If not, i think it looks decent enough as its looking like the trend to spend big up top and be light(er) in MF

        Laters for me.

Wolves/Eve have nice games this week and I want them for gw 4-7 especially. Trying to avoid the "planned" WC after gw 3 if possible.

          He only 50-60 mins.

You won't need to play your W/C until week 9-12 if you plan correctly.

BK could be a good idea. I need Bos:

          a. the fixtures
          b. cheapish, value
          c. abps, dbps, cs, goals, assists

Good luck - try not to overthink your team! Can see you going through too many scenarios at present. Stick to the fixture list and pick players that play 🙂

    Mark and Granville,

Great podcast, really enjoyed it while dog walking this morning. Helped solve a couple of last minute tweak issues.

And Granville, I see those odd player profiles in the members areas have been removed. Shame, Ashley Willians was far more appealing as a woman and Clint Hill was a devastating pick with his presidential bodyguard skills.

Any Yossi Benayoun love out there?

Benched v Stoke but Kalou and Malouda were poor.
Doubts over Mikel too means that I would have thought one spot and probably two will be opened up in the Chelsea side and there are only four candidates to fit in really...Drogba, Anelka, Benayoun and McEachran.

I'd expect it's one out of Drogba and Anelka and then one out of Benayoun and McEachran, and with Yossi able to play in the midfield 3 as well as the front 3, with Chelsea in bad need of a playmaker till the sign one, maybe Benayoun will get the nod?

Could be a steal at 7m to compliment my Torres coverage.

      Yaya/Lampard

I think that Silva and Yaya will score similarly over the season (at the very least Silva won't score enough to justify 1.5m more than Yaya), and Lampard is infinitely better than Malouda.

Nedved put an interesting thread up talking about rubbish advice like this. Baines is not overrated. He's effectively a winger with the chance of clean sheet points/freekick and penalty pts and duties. He is gold in FPL and has great fixtures. Have a look at his stats and some facts then come back and give advice.

you said he was "highly overrated". That is not the same as overpriced. To say Baines is overrated with that much potential for goals and assists and penalties (defo when Arteta's not on the pitch/maybe when he is) and the chance of a clean sheet is just wrong.
