Our post-Gameweek look at the new injuries sustained over the weekend brings worrying news for Sam Allardyce as a trio of Hammers players limped off at Liverpool. Brendan Rodgers eases fears over his captain’s weekend absence, though Stoke have concerns over Ryan Shawcross once again.

Chelsea
Willian was replaced on 79 minutes of last night’s draw with City at Stamford Bridge after picking up an injury, according to the club’s official website.

Crystal Palace
In his first appearance since Gameweek 16, Marouane Chamakh lasted just 24 minutes before being forced off in Palace’s home loss to Everton with a suspected broken nose. Alan Pardew remains optimistic that the Moroccan will be back in time for next week’s trip to the King Power Stadium:

”The loss of Cham was crucial today, his guile and experience around the box would have been important. He’s got a broken nose we fear, so fingers crossed he doesn’t get my cold. He wasn’t concussed, but it was a heavy blow to the nose. But I think he’ll be okay for Leicester.”

Liverpool
Brendan Rodgers allayed fears over Steven Gerrard’s absence from yesterday’s win overWest Ham, with the Reds skipper expected to return for the midweek FA Cup replay against Bolton:

“It was just precautionary, really. After the game the other night, his hamstring was tight. We’ve got a lot of games over the coming months, so we didn’t want to risk it when we have other players that are fresh.”

Southampton
Lloyd Isgrove was a late withdrawal from the Saints squad that lost to Swansea today, meaning Ronald Koeman could only name six subs in the 1-0 defeat.

Stoke
The Potters skipper Ryan Shawcross lasted just 41 minutes of the 3-1 win over QPR before being forced off through injury.

Sunderland
Wes Brown missed the Black Cats’ 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday after failing to prove his fitness upon returning to training, confirmed Black Cats boss Gus Poyet:

“Wes trained for a couple of days and it is nothing serious, so it is just about making sure he is 100% so that when we throw him in he is ready because I can tell you that it is very hard. It is great for us because we now have a big squad and I can refresh the team if I need to, but of course the ones that performed at 3pm against Burnley will have a better chance next week.”

Swansea
Marvin Emnes lasted just 15 minutes of this afternoon’s trip to Southampton before being withdrawn due to injury. Garry Monk has further worries on the flank after Emnes’ replacement Mo Barrow was stretchered off towards the end of the 1-0 win. Leon Britton missed today’s clash due to illness, according to the club’s official website.

West Ham
Sam Allardyce is counting the cost of yesterday’s loss to Liverpool after a trio of players were forced off through injury at Anfield. The Hammers boss saw centre-halves James Collins and Winston Reid both limp off with hamstring injuries, whilst Andy Carroll picked up a knew problem in the 2-0 defeat. Post-match, Allardyce rolled out an update:

Those three coming off has thrown us into a major crisis at the minute injury-wise and you can’t expect to come to a place like Liverpool and win when those things go against you. In all fairness to Ginge, because of the injuries we had in defence [in the build-up] he tried to come in and get through this game himself, but his hamstring injury had obviously re-occurred by half-time.

Allardyce also confirmed that midfielder Cheick Kouyate missed out after returning from international duties with Senegal nursing a back injury.

99% of people must think the notion of fantasy football is ludicrous, but those who give it a proper go will more than likely find it enjoyable and rather addictive.
Many people in Ireland find Premier League football tedious because there's lots of passing the ball around between defenders and it's relatively low scoring - compared to the ridiculous pace and scoring rate they're used to in Hurling.

Just because American Football is very stop start doesn't mean you should slate it - the complexity of the plays and the tactical side of the game, as well as the ridiculous feats of athleticism is what's so impressive about the sport. Enjoy it for what it is.
The world has been conditioned to complain about things they don't understand / agree with.
Just watch and enjoy. Or listen to Hocus Pocus by Focus.. it's absolutely insane.

Cool. As an American who loves all of our sports, and euro footie the most now, I still love our version of football. Part chess, part gladiator duel. And, the fantasy game is quite a part of it. Watch "the league", and laugh at all of us...

I've followed it semi-regularly for about 5 years now and it really is a fascinating game.. it can be a little slow if it's two teams you have little interest in but the same can be said for any sport.
Pity I decided to follow the Colts, always give me a little bit of false hope and then completely implode against the big guns

I'd actually love if you could link me to a better explanation of how the fantasy game works in that sense.

I don't really follow american football - but we did a draft style league for regular old european football this year. Feel like stuff like the waiver wire wasn't fully utilized / best configured!

Probably Defoe for me, albeit Newcastle have a ripe fixture on Gw27 if you need the attacking cover

New manager + he might be adjusting to the English game.. and he scored 14 goals last year.. I hate his hair though.
I'd definitely want Kane in my team though, everyone will have him and he's going to continue scoring, the guy looks to be a class act.
Defoe is awkward as it would mean going without Giroud and I don't know if that's wise with Arsenal's form and the fixtures after the NLD

Haha all good points, can't argue there

Yeah if you're defending, you have to keep for sure great value and in great form. Plus the Soldado and Ade threat has been nullified. If I go w/o it's because I'm chasing hard, and different measures are called for at the low ranks IMO. Albeit this may be a huge blunder. You gotta keep though man.

Yeah I can see how you can be put off by Defoe, perhaps this is a case of being better safe than sorry with Giroud. Who knows 😕 ? Could be a great punt as proven goal scorer and already has a goal and an assist in 2 games. I'd go Giroud if you don't already have triple Arsenal mate, is in fine form

Yeah, I just think Kane is a good captaincy option most weeks as well.. plus I support Spurs so not owning him would be awful of me really.
Yeah I have Giroud in at the moment, Sunderland being a bit crap is putting me off Defoe.. there'll be many games where they don't score and I'll hate myself for having him in. Cheers for the input!

Morning DZ, can I get your thoughts on my current WC draft?

    Panti, Krul
    Terry, Clichy, Bellerin, PVA, Wisdom
    Sanchez, Hazard, Silva, Santi, Sterling
    Aguero, Kane, Ayoze

    Bank 0.0m

Ayoze will obviously start on the bench each week, but for 4.6m he looks a decent short term filler especially given he has a decent GW27 fixtures (to start when the CHE/TOT lads are on the bench). Will save the transfer in GW27 and bring in Eriksen and Austin/Spurs defender for free to give me good DGW coverage.

Only real concern here is a lack of MUN. Perhaps ADM?

Ps, have moved up to 67th OR! Nosebleed!! 😯

Great side Jins, not sure on the Ayoze pick myself really. Perhaps you could do Clichy to Alder, to give you funds to upgrade Ayoze, though I can see how he's your bench. Would you fancy Cisse long term? Main goal scorer for Newcastle and a ridiculous goal rate this season, perhaps something to ponder on IMO.

Good plan nonetheless sound moves for the DGW.
Sorry about the nosebleed, bitter sweet though ain't it 😉 😯

Cheers - not a bad idea that. Aldy was in there originally, but with Berty out and Aldy an injury doubt I fancied a punt on a MCY defender for HUL, sto, NEW.

As for Cisse, I'd definitely prefer him to Ayoze, but with that front 8 I doubt I'd only play him in GW27, so perhaps a waste of 0.8m just for 1 week? Fixtures post GW27 are poor also and id likely be looking at Costa/Sturridge in a shift back to 3-4-3 then I think.

Hmm good points, perhaps you're better off sticking by Clichy then if you're confident in them.

Yeah, could be unnecessary for sure, you're probably better off sticking with your team mate. You might have convinced me not to get Cisse now 🙁 Aye, solid side though Jins, forget the Cisse punt in entirety, a risk like that isn't necessary for your rank at all.

Great side Jins and glorious rank.

Nice! Having a great season too baps!

Re Cisse, you think it's worth ditching Clichy for Aldy to get Cisse over Ayoze?

Clichy looks the clear 1st choice LB now and HUL, sto, NEW looks a decent platform for good returns. He rotates well with my other defenders also.

When you put it like that, no. I have kept Clichy through thick n thin and he stays for those fixtures. Young Perez is a decent player too!

Would u ditch Kosc for Belle?

I think Kos is a decent pick, but for a full 1.5m saving Bellerin looks a no brainer to me. I'm toying with Clichy -> Collo/maybe Janmat at a stretch to fund Sterling -> ADM. Not a big fan of pool's fixtures over the next 4: eve, TOT, sot, MCY. Collo rotates well with the others and has a better GW27 fixture.

            Thoughts on that?

I think this is a great team for next week, but then will Silva match the output of a 8-9m striker? But a 352 makes a lot of sense at the moment and can understand not wanting to triple on Arsenal attacking players.

Cheers. Yeah I've always been a big fan of 3-4-3 but there aren't many options Id want for the 3rd spot except for maybe Giroud (like you say, don't fancy triple ARS and I prefer Sanchez and Santi) or Sturridge (tough fixtures, just back from injury and expensy).

Silva -> ADM next week is an option if the former looks surplus to requirements.

Having trouble not going with a midfield of Hazard, Sanchez, Silva, Cazorla, and Eriksen on my wildcard (with Kun, Kane, and Austin up top). I can understand the logic of adding a second big hitter in the strike force but that midfield seems too good to pass up....

It's because of the blank gw. Almost everyone has 2 or more chelsea players so keeping both kane and austin could screw over ur GW27

Is it crazy if i go Chadli > Caz? Or should i just get sterling...or silva for a hit

Was asking this earlier (but with Puncheon). In the end, it came down to one of the best players in the game for just 8.3m... I already have ADM who is nowhere near playing to the same level. In that context it is a no brainier.

Set pieces are the primary draw for me. He plays in a position where Walcott/Sanchez will score more goals, but you'd have thought Arsenal will continue to get penalties too.

I agree that Sturridge is overpriced but with Costa out and the Arsenal mids firing thus filling your quote of Arsenal, there are very few other choices. Austin is a decent pick and has good stats but he and QPR are generally off form imo.

Looks like he's enjoying Sturridge being back. But their fixtures are putting me off any Pool cover.

Fair call. I agree 100% except the 'putting off' bit, form over fixtures for me. We have been playing very well recently.

Besides, I'd expect us to score against eve, TOT, MCI anyway. Southampton away could be tough, though.
