To create a Hot Topic you have to post and interact with the community in the comments section under articles. Moderators read these comments and will and promote some important comments to Hot Topics as the conversations develop.
You should use the flag option to alert mods to posts and discussions that you feel should be promoted to Hot Topic status. Write ‘Potential Hot Topic?’ in the box that pops up after ticking the flag.
And don’t forget to use your voting powers: upvote posts that positively contribute to important discussions. These posts are seen more often by the moderating team!
