The Community Round Up

Planning ahead for the forthcoming double Gameweeks took centre stage as our community writers and hot topic posters considered the merits of the Arsenal and Liverpool midfields in particular. We look back at the community’s early thoughts for best and worst players of the season and receive some mixed news about the health of two of our most respected posters. Elsewhere, we take a look at the key stats in our Members Tables area and catch up on the latest movements in our community leagues.

The Community Articles

Jaffalicious’s article last month on Arsenal’s attacking options was so popular that he was not only named best community writer for March but was also asked for an encore.

During this week’s vote to find March’s best community writer Jaffalicious was asked to deliver a follow up, this time focusing on the influence of Aaron Ramsey to the side since his return to injury. He duly delivered with this assuring read for the Welsh wizard’s suitors and current owners.

Gameweek 32 was a set of fixtures to forget for many of the community, according to our latest Rough with the Smooth article, looking at your tales of woe and joy. Those who invested in Crystal Palace’s attack grabbed the bragging rights, while those who drafted in the injured Loic Remy were left crestfallen. Many of these were also read out on this week’s Scoutcast.

With the FA Cup schedule blunting the fixture list in Gameweek 33, there are plenty of opportunities to consider more leftfield picks, particularly for those planning to wildcard in Gameweek 34. Here’s the Puntmaster with his latest trio of differentials to consider.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

The community’s love/hate relationship with double Gameweeks is set to be tested in Gameweek 34, when Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester and Hull enjoy two fixtures. As Ludo’s analysis of the best performing players in this season’s two double Gameweeks so far, investing in attack is key to getting the most out of these rare fixture opportunities.

Liverpool midfielders such as Raheem Sterling, Jordan Henderson and Philip Coutinho are among those many are considering for Gameweek 34. 7Shades of Smoke was on hand to delve into their statistics to find the best options.

For those with a wildcard still in hand, Gameweek 34 will feel like Christmas coming early. However, Zasa wonders whether Gameweek 35, when a number of premium players have plum fixtures, would be a better option for wildcarders.

Focusing on matters closer to hand, TommyJ has run the rule over the Gameweek 33 captaincy potential of Sergio Aguero and David Silva, two stand out armband selections as Manchester City entertain West Ham at the Etihad. Although those opting for Aguero may be put off after reading McNulty’s curse of the Captain Poll analysis.

The Manchester City pair were also two of a number of players without a double Gameweek to feature in our hot topic on the best single Gameweek options.

Harry Kane, however, is increasingly seen as dispensible as a single Gameweek option on current form. In our hot topic on the Tottenham striker it seems his army of followers is set to decline rapidly as Gameweek 34 approaches.

As the season draws to a close the community is weighing up the candidates for their end of season awards. While Demi invited the community to name the best Premier League manager, Andy85 took a look at the season’s best signing options, while Lucy asked us to weigh up the candidates for the worst signing of the season gong.

There was mixed news this week regarding the health of two much respected community veterans. Beric has visited Doosra in hospital and delivered this heartfelt thanks from the man himself as well as some welcome news regarding his recovery. Meanwhile, Absinthe gave us the sad news that his long term health problems are worsening. His bravery and good humour in the face of such adversity was understandably one of our most read posts this week. Our thoughts are with him and his family at this time.

The Members Tables

For those looking to take advantage of Leicester’s double Gameweek 34 Mungo has constructed this table looking at their best options. Another intriguing table for the week is JK is the one’s look at the best midfield options, based on the last four matches as is this table I’ve created looking at the season’s most accurate strikers so far.

If you’re a member and are yet to get to grips with the custom statistics tables, you can view this movie for an explanation of how they work. Also, remember to tag them so that people can find the tables with ease.

The Community Leagues

Greenwindmill retains his FFScout moderators and contributors league lead going into Gameweek 33, meanwhile Gnu’s Wigan to Me head to head is finely balanced with Bouncebackability and Tettey BojanGayles neck and neck on 66 points following Gameweek 32.

Choking Hazard for the second consecutive week hit the top score in TorresMagic‘s Last Man Standing competition. There are now 57 teams left after 27 were eliminated when the safety score was set at 50.

Also, for those taking part in the FFS UEFA Cricket World Cup tournament the latest upate on Matchday 2’s events and a preview of this weekend’s Matchday 3 fixtures can be found here. On the subject of cricket, Thomas popped by with this invite to the community to take part in a new Fantasy game, the t20 Natwest Blast competition.

I feel like this decision will be absolutely crucial...

    This GW only:

    A) Baines, Bolasie, Remy

    B) Zabaleta, Boyd, Murray

Unfortunately not possible, has to be one or the other (Unless I take a -4 before my WC next week)

    GW 33) Fab [Sanchez Out]
GW 34) Fab + Giroud + Moreno (NO HIT)

    VERSUS:

    GW 33) Murray [Giroud out]
    GW 34) Murray + Sterling + Moreno (-4 HIT)

Which is a better option? I reckon the second one is if it didn't include a hit, but the hit could change that....

First one, especially as you will keep giroud into wk35

I agree, the hit probably makes the first the better option. Is close though.

I made this overly complicated, either way I will have Giroud in 35 as I'll either already have him or transfer him in that week

Ok? How about just for this week? WCing next week. Will probably be bringing in both Palace players this week. Could go for Lukaku over Murray or someone else over Bolasie?

        Cheers AT

No they are good picks just for this week. There's not a lot on offer. I like the Lukaku pick but you never which Lukaku will turn up. He could score big today but Murray has been consistent so there's no reason to gamble.

Made my last post too complicated lol:

    Fab + Giroud for GW 33 & 34

    OR

    Murray + Sterling (-4 HIT) for GW 33 & 34

Agreed. I have 11 starters including him. To leave him means taking a chance on unnecessarily playing with 10, yet if he does play he could do well.
