As always, the player picks for our weekly Fantasy Football game, PlayON, are rolled out this Friday lunchtime. We’re on the lookout for potential bargains in our assessment of this week’s PlayON Price List, as we prepare for a Gameweek that takes in the next 20 league fixtures, from Saturday lunchtime until Wednesday evening. There’s a £1,000 guaranteed pot on offer at PlayON this week, too.

If you’re new to PlayON, it is weekly Fantasy Football so you can dip in and out of playing throughout the season. Once your starting XI is built you can compete for cash. Entering a multiplayer game for a set stake, you’ll have a chance of winning your share of the pot should you finish high enough in the rankings.

Similarly, you can challenge other players to one-on-one games, selecting the amount at stake. The likes of Robbie Fowler, Les Ferdinand and OptaJoe are all playing the game and are there to be challenged for free or for £1. The Fantasy Football Scout team is also available to be challenged and has a 54% win rate up to this point.

For a more in depth introduction to PlayON, take a look at this season’s introduction article.

Goalkeeper – Artur Boruc
Priced at 8.9m, the Southampton stopper has a home clash against Stoke this weekend followed by a trip to Hull City. Boruc’s clean sheet chances look strong for both fixtures – the Potters have scored once in their last six road trips, whilst Steve Bruce’s side have proven somewhat goal-shy in recent matches, netting just once in the last four Gameweeks. The Tigers Steve Harper continues to benefit from Allan McGregor’s suspension and, in addition to the Saints clash, also has a trip to Sunderland on his agenda – at 6.9m, he looks a strong budget enabler for the Gameweek. Elsewhere amongst the cut-price options, Cardiff’s David Marshall travels to Swansea tomorrow before entertaining Villa on Tuesday evening. Coming in at just 7.6m, the Bluebirds number one’s propensity to earn save points boosts his appeal even if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side do concede.

Defender – Winston Reid
Emerging from the bench to signal his comeback from injury last weekend, the centre-half is expected to be installed to the heart of West Ham’s defence for a trip to Villa and home clash against Norwich. Big Sam’s side have just registered back-to-back clean sheets and the big Kiwi’s return only strengthens their resolve – at just 7.1m, Reid looks a steal. At 9.1m, Pablo Zabaleta remains reasonably priced for City’s trip to Norwich and home clash against Sunderland. The Canaries have notched once in their last three at Carrow Road, whilst Manuel Pellegrini’s side will be desperate to turn in a convincing display at the Etihad in midweek, having lost their unbeaten record to Chelsea on Monday. Fit-again Seamus Coleman is back for Everton’s trip to Tottenham and home game against Palace. The right-back also comes in at 9.1m and his eye for goal has already seen him find the net on five occasions this term.

Midfielder – Wilfried Zaha
Having made an immediate impact off the bench last weekend, Cardiff’s on-loan wide man looks key to his side’s prospects. Zaha is likely to get the nod ahead of Peter Whittingham on the left as Ole Gunner Solskjaer injects a little more pace and direct play on the flanks – priced at just 7.5m in this week’s PlayON Player Price List, Zaha has a Welsh derby trip to Swansea this weekend before the Bluebirds entertain Villa on Tuesday evening. Tottenham’s Paulinho marked his return from injury with a goal against Hull last weekend. The 8.1m-priced Brazilian’s all-action style of play is looked upon kindly by the PlayON scoring matrix – he has games against Everton and injury-hit Newcastle up next. City’s David Silva is a little steeper on the budget at 9.3m but, with doubts over the forward roles, his place looks secure ahead of the above-mentioned pair of fixtures.

Forward – Wayne Rooney
Yet to hit top form since returning from injury last week, the United forward remains very favourably priced at a mere 9.4m. A home game against freefalling Fulham could see Rooney justify our investment this weekend before David Moyes’ side make their way to the Emirates next Wednesday. A home game with Newcastle and trip to West Brom bodes well for Eden Hazard’s chances of further returns. The Belgian is the one attacker we can rely on to play both games for Jose Mourinho’s in-form side and, at 11.7m, is also on spot-kick duties if Frank Lampard remains on the bench. If you’re shopping on a budget, however, Cardiff’s new signing Kenwyne Jones may be worth considering. The Trinidadian comes in at just 9.7m and, having notched on his debut last time around, will be brimming with confidence ahead of games against Swansea and Villa.

        Hi D1sable,
We use Opta for all our player stats and data and sometimes they have players listed in a particular position when they play more frequently in another - Hazard is one of these at the moment.
I'll drop them a mail on it

          Hi D1stable & Carrick,

I've just got a response back from Opta:

"Hi Killian – there are a few contentious players in there who play in that sort of position between midfield and striker, however our operations team have deliberated this many times before and have decided to keep Hazard in there as a forward"

As I mentioned we use Opta for all our data and stats as they are extremely reliable and are the official data partner with the Premier League so we are going to stick with their decision on this.

Well thats a shame because he's virtually unpickable now, he has never been a forward so i don't understand where they are coming from. This week for example i would love to have Hazard in my team but when you consider the striker you can get for the same price it seems ludicrous.

    Suarez VS RVP

Some numbers for you all. Wanted to take a look at how RVP is stacking up against Suarez so far in this campaign, along with their respective strike partners. I'm tempted by switching Suarez to RVP from DGW31, with Sturridge my Liverpool cover (and Aguero to slot into the 3rd striker spot when fit.)

For the 'with' stat, players had to play more than 60 minutes together.

    Rooney:

    with RVP - 5.75 ppg
    w/out RVP - 7.33 ppg

    RVP:

    with Rooney - 7.13 ppg
    w/out Rooney - 4.8 ppg

    Sturridge:

    with Suarez - 6.88 ppg
    w/out Suarez - 7.5 ppg

    Suarez:

    with Sturridge - 8.88 ppg
    w/out Sturridge - 11.3 ppg

    Fixtures from DGW31:

ManU - whm/MANC, AVL, new, HUL, eve, NOR, SUN, sou
Pool - TOT, whm, MANC, nor, CHE, cry, new

A little small sample size for some of those. I don't think RVP has 30% less potential for points when playing with Rooney, that just seems off. Sturridge playing does seem to change Suarez' role slightly though.

Agreed on the first count, but also factor into the equation that LFC scores more goals when both strikers are fit so there's more point to go around. Their partnership works well.

Wait for Evans news, he's a nailed on GW29 player which chould be a problem week for many, you're looking good for GW28 so Evans blank is not a huge problem... I'd be tempted to go Mariappa -> MOlsson, but this is the wrong GW to do it, hehe. I'd save.

    Marshall (Adrian)
    Bardsley Terry Ward (Coleman Mertesacker)
    Hazard Ozil Eriksen Mutch (Morrison)
    Suarez Bony Negredo

Got 2.7mil in the bank brother and was thinking about swapping Ozil for Mata, but I want to get rid of Morrison.

I only got yaya in last week so it would be typical if he blanks on me first time. Bear in mind Arsenal have never lost when Kos and mert have started together this season so I don't think Suarez is the way to go this gw. Arsenal will control midfield - as they did at home - so will be tough for pool. Draw or away win for me. Good luck anyhoo

Sounds good, kol is risky but will explode at some point. I did silva to yaya which hurt as I always have silva but his misses are stacking up and yaya can't be ignored with their run in

would u do a hit -4 mcnaughton > any cheapo def? so as to have som bench for kol? or risk it. if kol does not play i have no bench, as i hav a walking hospital in oviedo and chester.

my next ft gw 26 is chester>def.

I'm on Yaya at the moment. It's between him and Mata.

I can see Fulham giving it loads with their new signings. Utd should still win but won't be a walk-over Yaya on pens and after revenge is the clincher for me

Jan, you already have Liverpool cover with Studge and Saurez.

But I also have United 'cover' with Mata and RvP...
Do you reckon Janu starts then?

          I think he will start.

Obviously Utd have the better fixture as well, if he doesn't feature the Gerrard comes off the bench.....

Surprised to see the captaincy love for midfielders here this week. What is even more surprising is that almost everyone is ignoring Silva(C) despite the fact that:

-He is a nailed on City attacking player
-City will be looking for revenge
-City scored 7 last time out against Norwich
-He is incredibly consistent and was very unlucky not to get more points against Chelsea

Please talk me out of this if I'm being mad. Suarez,Sturridge,Hazard,Mata other contenders.

Silva is a good punt, was unlucky not to bag at least 2 against Chelsea.

As a long time Silva owner I can understand why.

Always plays well but never seems to have a massive haul. Outshined by Yaya every week

Yeah - same here. Assuming no-one's leg falls off in my team I'm "wasting" a transfer on Silva->Yaya next week.

Not many own him so he's less popular as a captaincy option.

Also only 4 league goals all season.
