Having previously assessed the form of forwards and midfielders across the last four Gameweeks, our third Key Performance Indicator (KPI) article of the international break casts an eye over the defenders.

For the unfamiliar, these Key Performers Indicator (KPI) tables use a series of key stats to allow our members to track a trend in player performance as a guide to their form. By tracking the frequency of certain key statistics, such as minutes per chance, and comparing them over two separate periods of time, we can ascertain patterns of improvement or decline in these areas. For those unfamiliar, we’ve rolled out a preview movie which shows just how to get the best out of the KPI tables.

    Christmas rotation

    Due to the influx of fixtures in a short period of time isn't it more likely that fringe players like Moore and Bruce will get game time ?

    I read in the papers here, that UEFA has prohibited TV companies from showing repeated shots of offsides or using the offside line on screen in any EQ, CL or EL match. However I couldn't find a source to this article.

    The article itself has reactions from several players and commentators , albeit Slovak and Czech only.

    Has anyone else heard of this ?

      completely understandable if it's referring to screens at the game though.

      Unless it's made part of an official review process (a la American Football), multiple replays on stadium screen just devalues the spectacle and taints the judgment of the referee.

        From what I read it should actually apply to TV broadcasting as well, e.g. not only screens at the stadium but all broadcasting of the match.

        If it's true I don't really see this as solving the problem of bad decisions, besides hiding it.
        At the end of the day referees are human and prone to make mistakes, but surely there can be other solutions for the game to be played fairly and according to the rules.

        Yeh true mate. Got 4 doubtful and now Sakhos fixtures don't look that great am thinking of doing ADM to someone so I can upgrade Sakho to Welbeck or Pellle

          I'd wait til the end of today and then if ADM still out/doubt I think it could be a good idea to switch him.

          As for Pelle, he has Aston Villa now and after that he has a long list of tough fixtures, so maybe not the best idea.

    I've already taken a -4 hit. If Baines is out I'll probably sell him & buy Azpi assuming Hutton & Moore are out as well. I'll re-buy Baines if necessary as I have Ivan as well as I'll only have a scrape up an extra 0.2.

      do it. No better time for you, really. That midfield is too heavy, and you're one heavy striker short. Get rid of a couple of those doubtful players (de Gea, Tadic and maybe Sakho?).

          V tough, you gotta think long term here.
          Who would you want untill Xmas as you know you will find it hard to shift Oscar/Siggy as you will have other matters.
          Long term for me is Siggy, Shortterm is Oscar.
          I think you will always feel safer with Hazzard/Fab over Oscar is my narrow minded view.

      Burnt by Ivan this season, missed his early points, brought him in then got rid again to fund Aguero & Costa upfront

    Liverpool may be poised to pay 3-5 mill to Lille to buy back their own player off loan in January (SSN)..You couldn't make it up sometimes.
