The imminent return of premium powerhouse Sergio Aguero, coupled with the poor form of Alexis Sanchez, ensured there was plenty of advice from our community writers and hot topic posters for those looking to freshen up their squads. Fifth midfielders, team form, Chelsea’s malaise and the best striking options are amongst issues covered, as we also catch up on the best Members stats and latest from our community leagues.

The Community Articles

Our community writers have been full of good advice this week about the key transfers to consider going into the weekend’s matches.

The Sarjeant offered up his latest colour coded look at team form, while YMA was on hand with his latest bookies based predictions. Also keeping a sharp eye on the betting markets was Jarvish, who has looked to spread betting to see if they can help make up our minds for the best options this weekend and beyond.

Meanwhile, Rakkhi has used the international break to take stock and look back at recent history to see what we can learn from Gameweek 12 table toppers of the last four years, in terms of strikers and teams looking to continue their fine form. The week’s key bandwagons are also analysed in Rodellegabomb‘s look at the most talked-about players ahead of this weekend’s games.

Don’t forget, if you’ve got some analysis, scout reports or features brewing, be sure to visit our community section to submit your article.

The Hottest Topics

With injuries mounting up over the international break and Manchester City on the verge of welcoming back injured forward Sergio Aguero, the community has been craving advice on freshening up their forward lines.

Owners of Manchester City’s injured striker Wilfried Bony, such as Sin Espinas Comaderia – Havana Gila,  are amongst those pondering whether to draft in Aguero sooner rather than later. Mr Alex though is less convinced the Argentine can hit the ground running.

There are certainly plenty of other strikers to consider, in particular Olivier Giroud, Romelu Lukaku and Harry Kane, in our discussion on forward options.

With funds needed for the likes of premium options such as Sergio Aguero and Harry Kane, cheap fifth midfielders are back in vogue. Bournemouth’s out of position budget midfielder Josh King is among those Eden Hazardous is eyeing up. But Scored with a Sheep believes King may find himself back on the bench before too long, according to murmurings from the Dorset coast.

Fifth midfielders were also discussed in our look at how best to free up funds in our squads, which also considers the merits of favouring a cheap defender with kind fixtures to lead our substitutes benches.

Amongst the more expensive midfield options being discussed was Liverpool man Roberto Firmino. Irish Madrista has been leading the praises but even he is wondering if it may be folly to punt on him now.

Another midfielder where caution is being exercised is Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez, who, as Saniul pointed out, goes into Gameweek 13 on the back of poor form and possible fatigue after playing 180 minutes for Chile over the international break. The same cannot be said of his team mate Mesut Ozil, who took a break from international duty to spend time on the Arsenal training ground to add to some of the impressive assist and creativity statistics highlighted in Zasa‘s regular pre-Gameweek stat attack.

The entire Chelsea squad, including once prime midfield targets such as Eden Hazard, are being given a wide berth due to their poor form. Despite a fine upcoming schedule, our discussion on Chelsea’s disappointing campaign so far suggest many will continue to distance themselves from Jose Mourinho’s men.

Midfield fears continue amongst Southampton’s ranks for Roscola, who points out that after an international break Sadio Mane is more likely than not to find himself on the bench.

Just how many hours during our working days do we spend chatting about Fantasy Football? Doolittle is about to find out when some changes in his office take effect on Monday and he will no longer be able to access the site at his leisure. As one of our most popular posters, we hope he still sneaks in the odd visit during the day and can still find time in the evening to post.

On the subject of popular posters, this week we revealed who had attracted the most votes from the community for their comments and hot topics. The full top ten can be found here.

The Members Tables

Fantasy Football Frog has picked shots in the box as his key guide to finding the best midfielder to draft in.

In this time of dilemmas remember:

Points are points. If you get them elsewhere it doesn't matter if Kun gets the same number.

Can't decide between Alderwield and Nyom. Who knows how west ham will be without payet, will they be more toothless than a striker less United?

Peoples, with Kompany out I am forced to play Dawson v Arsenal. I know the unwritten rule is never take a hit on a defender but does anyone think swapping out Kompany for Bellerin (-4) is worth it?

Hi I want to get aguero in before he starts to increase in value (I know he may not do anything this gameweek, but dont want to miss out), and also want to get lukaku, so would replace martial and pelle with aguero and lukaku with my other forward being vardy. In order to be able to afford to do this I have to downgrade either KDB or sanchez to alli.

I was thinking of downgrading kdb to alli, but wanted to know everyone's thoughts. Also, I was thinking of using my AOA chip, as my defence is poor this gameweek and dont want to take any more hits in changing it. My team after the changes would be:

    Butland
Smalling Francis (Kompany Browning Ryan Bennett)
    Mahrez Sanchez Mata Ozil Alli
    Vardy Aguero Lukaku (C)

Thats if i use my AOA chip, if not I will prob only have 10 players starting at the most. I was also wondering whether you guys thought Alli is likely to start or not, if not may just go with hoolahan instead of alli.

@Andy...posted this midfield in another place tonight...

    Ozil Eriksen Mahrez Silva Coutinho

Play around with that and then look at how easy it is to fit Aguero in...Plenty of pts in that midfield as well...

Then compare it to trying to put Aguero in with both of KDB and Sanchez as well

    Just some food for thought.

Sanchez has justified his price tag only three times this season and KDB only twice...We are now up to GW13....

The truth is that Aguero Sanchez and KDB have been killing our ranks...

I had Aguero since GW1 and Sanchez since GW3. Got KDB in GW7.

Haven't taken a hit yet. Rank top 9k.

KDB is a consistent beast and will only play better in a regular run alongside Silva and Kun.

          680 minutes
          3 goals
          4 assists
24 chances created (translates to one every 28 minutes)

Played with Silva only once (scored 15 points).
Played with Aguero only 4 times (averaged 8.75 points).

Stoke are better with Shawcross back - but they're also better at home. Funnily, they've had a string of easy away games lately and kept a bunch of cleansheets - but these were all against sides struggling for goals.

Saints are better at home and will put past Stoke - I think it's just a case of how many.

Yes, that's the funny thing. But they came against Villa, Newcastle and an out-of-form Swansea.

Who to captain? I haven't made a good captain since Payet vs. SUN.

    A) Ozil
    B) Mahrez
    C) Lukaku
    D) Vardy

And add Sanchez to the list, because he's unpredictable and WBA aren't that good at home.

    Current team is
    DDG-Rudd
    Bellerin-Cedric-Dawson-Huth-Saylor
    Sanchez-KDB-Mahrez-Ayew-Fletcher
    Pelle-Lukaku- Vardy
    4.1 ITB ,1FT

Can either do Sanchez and Pelle > Ozil and Aguero or wildcard to something similar to this:
    DDG-4.0
    Bellerin-Moreno-VVD-Dier-S.Taylor
    Ozil-Silva-Mane-Mahrez-Fletcher
    Vardy-Aguero-Lukaku
    0.0ITB

Which would you guys do? Sorry for long post?

      pasting this bad boy everywhere:

      680 minutes
      3 goals
      4 assists
24 chances created (translates to one every 28 minutes)

Played with Silva only once (scored 15 points).
Played with Aguero only 4 times (averaged 8.75 points).

I understand 10+ (whatever you bought him at) is a premium but that's consistent. That's Hazard numbers and people fawn all over him (mostly IMO because he has pens).

Very good points thanks for this. The only reason I was going to downgrade is so I could upgrade Iggy to lukaku. Not too keen on getting rid though since he has rises 6 times
Since getting him. Hopefully he pulls some big numbers soon and I'll happily stick. Cheers.

Hey HVT! All going well? Congrats on the qualification of Eire. Payet was a star from early on,so the alert casuals who later got bored got him in I reckon. His ownership now must be dead teams.

    Any sky players?

Really cant decide between Tadic and Bolasie. Bolasie is tempting for that MNF captaincy but Tadic looks a more solid option and is 0.4 cheaper...

Well you could keep the captaincy on Bolasie because he plays early the following week. That's the sort of thing I look at.

fair enough. Solid fixtures too so I suppose we've just got to hope and pray.
