After Everton defeated West Ham 2-0 at Goodison earlier, we now turn our attentions to St Mary’s as Southampton entertain Chelsea at 4pm.

Diego Costa and Eden Hazard boast the greatest threat as the Blues look to grab a fourth successive league win.

The Spain international – who remains one yellow away from a single-match ban – has netted four goals in as many road trips, whilst Hazard has notched in each of his last four starts for club and country.

Chelsea’s recent move to 3-4-3 has harvested three straight clean sheets in the top-flight, though their hosts have been similarly resilient in front of their own fans.

The Saints have conceded just one goal in their last five home matches in all competitions and have been breached on only eight occasions over the first nine Gameweeks.

With a trip to Hull next up on their agenda, Nathan Redmond and Charlie Austin have the chance to stake a claim for our consideration, as the latter looks to net for the third successive league outing.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    (Bottomed)

    Foster, Pickford
    Vertonghen, Williams, Holebas, Evans, Amat
    Sanchez, Sterling, Lallana, Snodgrass, Capoue
    Aguero, Costa, Lukaku

    2FT, 0.0

What to do with this lot?

Defence needs work, and mids could do with an upgrade (though would need to downgrade Sanchez, Costa or Lukaku for funds)...

    Picking the Big 5

At the moment it is very tempting to pick Sanchez, Coutinho, Costa, Aguero and Lukaku.

Sanchez - Proven FPL star. Playing out of position as a striker.
Aguero - Proven FPL star season after season.
Costa - No European football nor any League Cup games - should play the overwhelming majority of Chelsea's PL games. Chelsea are set up to feed him.
Lukaku - No European football nor any League Cup games - should play the overwhelming majority of Everton's PL games. Everton are set up to feed him.
Coutinho - No European football - should play the overwhelming majority of Liverpool's PL games. Takes free kicks and corners.

With doubts over Payet (West Ham not firing and without a good striker), De Bruyne (injury status plus rotation risk for Champions League), Southampton tied up in European football and Man Utd also tied up in European football / misfiring why not stick with the 'Big 5'. The lower number of clean sheets means you can focus on putting funds in midfielders and strikers - Holebas, Smith, McAuley, Dann, Friend, Heaton, Grant, Pickford have all got points at low values in defence.

So what is the thinking - pick the 'Big 5' or not?

Seriously, you think Coutinho is better than De Bruyne.

      1. diesel001
        • 9 Years
        9 years, 5 months ago

I think De Bruyne is a better player. But this about FPL (and Premier League games only) - Coutinho is much cheaper, he has no European football so won't be rested, has not been out injured, is returning good points per minute and has a good run of fixtures.

He also got more bonus points and total FPL points more than Hazard too.

Agreed but that's looking past when Hazard went completely off boil for some weeks. If he does what he did at the start of this season and today, I will prefer Hazard. Also, cheaper than Costa

Good. Great in the air and was marginally offside for his dissallowed goal. Chelsea just defended really well. I think lots of teams will have trouble scoring against them
