I find that the front 8 are easier to chose than the back 7...

    A pva and Coleman

      I'm the opposite.

Mendy, Robertson and cheapest Chelsea defender (who we'll discover tomorrow) stand out above the rest, then you can get Davies if you want 4 atb, and fill the bench with 4.0s.

Tomkins the only defender I'd consider from that list, but with AWB available there's not too much need for him

I chose to go with Allison over ederson (save points) so I'm struggling with a defender instead of Robertson
Mendy probably best but is he nailed? Maybe baily?

Robertson, VVD and the three forwards offer so much

Last season King was also rotated a couple of times. I agree that Wilson isn't ideal though... hopefully KDB starts tomorrow so I can do Sanchez -> KDB and Wilson -> King.

It would mean downgrading Sanchez -> KDB, or Mane/Eriksen -> Mahrez

A lot of people seem to be switching from Robertson to van Dijk. Has Klopp said something? I went VVD last season due to nailedness and goal threat but Robbo was never rotated and got more attacking returns. Moreno scored a goal and all of a sudden Robertson is going to be rotated? Not sure about that.

      Jonny - Boly - Saiss - x - Doherty

Well, today it was a back 3 of Saiss Coady Boly, but Saiss was rubbish, apparently, and got subbed for Bennett at HT, after which they looked a bit more stable. Wolves fans on twitter were scathing about Saiss playing in that position, and also want Jonny on the right, becuase that's his stronger foot. In short, it was a good day for Bennett-hopefuls - according to the internet, anyway.

    Arsenal top-scorers in pre-season:

    Lacazette 4
    Aubameyang 4
    Nelson 2
    Nketiah 2
    Mkhitaryan 1
    Reine-Adelaide 1
    Smith Rowe 1
    Özil 1
    Holding 1

Of course there is a small chance lacazette gets benched but arsenal seem to be playing a system now which incorporates both laca and auba.

Laca doesn't really seem too bad at all. It's a risk I suppose but are we judging laca minutes under wenger and not looking at the present?

    1. diesel001

Certainly thinking about it yeah. I feel like an early wildcard is looking likely so doesn't feel too risky. You also can't beat a 6 pointer from a 4.0 defender. I'm currently on this:

        Ederson
        VVD, Bailly, 3x4.0

The extra 0.5 allows me to have both KDB & Hazard.

What's your full team look like if you don't mind me asking?

And how do you plan to get KBD and EH into the team?

              Ederson,
              VVD, Bailly, 3x4.0
              Mili, Salah, Mane, Sanchez, Richa
              Laca, King, 4.5

              0.5itb

              GW2: Sanchez > KDB
              GW3: Mane > Hazard

              That's the plan anyway.

I have wildcarded early for 4 years in a row if I remember correctly. Has worked decently, so could do that again and start with Robertson, Mendy and 3x4.0 as well

That's not a bad strategy, but unless you don't have Salah, I don't see how that helps your team. You may be able to bump a 5.5m mid to a 7.5m mid or whatever, but there's nothing there right now. It may be useful come GW4-GW5 but how can you even guarantee a 6 pointer from anyone besides AWB.

When Robertson gets rotated, Moreno will be playing. Therefore Liverpool will inevitably concede due to his ineptitude and therefore you'll only miss out on two points, which are more than made up for by the attacking returns Robbo gets over VVD during the season.

    /argument

      • 15 Years

Surely VVD will get more luck in front of goal than last year. He had lots of opportunities, but failed to covert

      1. Obi-1 Kenobi-0
        • 11 Years
        8 years, 1 month ago

You say luck, but really all of those opportunities had nothing to do with luck and everything to do with his own finishing ability.

If he's worked on that, then possibly he'll score more headers than last season... but I doubt luck will come into it 🙂

I agree. If Robertson produces what he did in the second half of last season he'll still outscore VVD even if he misses the odd game.

I like Cardiff's Gunnarsson, even though I don't like Cardiff at all. He takes their long throws so may chip in with an assist or two.

Prefer him to the others just because I know I won't be crying out for three Cardiff spots during the season.

    > Lacazette

Like the idea of him. No Europe, good cpl mths of fixtures to start.
But, seems so much safer to have Bobby Firmino for that price.
    Maybe we buy both?

Arsenal have the Europa league in which Lacazette will be the striker that plays, especially the group stage rounds. Recent lineups indicate to me that Lacazette is far from a guaranteed starter.

    Managers, thoughts on this team.

    Foster/Fabs
    Mendy, Robertson, Digne, (Wan-Bissaka/Connolly)
D Silva, Salah, Willian, Richarlison, (Ralls)
    King, Aguero, Zaha

    1m ITB

    Is Foster nailed?
Digne in his last season at Roma had 3 goals 3 assist over 32 games - so a threat there. Could switch him to Luiz/Coleman.

Under a week to go and only 2.3 million players registered. Weird. A lot of people possibly put off by the fact that they've changed the rules regarding the weekly prize?

Oh no wait, the rules state you have to have your team made two weeks prior to be eligible. My previous point is redundant. Ignore that but still, why so few?

Does my memory deceive me or was Nathaniel Chalobah (£4.5m, midfielder) fairly decent from an attacking sense for Watford prior to his season-ending injury last year? Lots of assisting the assister and getting into decent positions, I seem to remember.
