Fantasy Premier League managers have now had the chance to watch Spurs on three occasions ahead of the new season – so what have we learned?

Jose Mourinho’s men come into 2020/21 with one of the most appealing set of fixtures, so interest in their attackers has been high.

Making sure we are invested in the right assets is important, so I have assessed some of the key talking points from pre-season, using some information from 2019/20 and Project Restart to back it up.

As this article uses Opta data, only those with a valid Fantasy Football Scout Membership package can access it in full.

Son’s Position

David’s Members’ only article comparing Son to Kane can be read here.

The Scout Notes for the friendly against Ipswich Town can read here. The extended highlights can be viewed here. And the full match can be found on the Spurs website.

Highlights of Spurs v Reading can viewed here.

The Scout Notes for the Spurs fixtures played during Project Restart are linked to below:

Heraclitus a little flick, here he comes on the far post, Socrates is there, Socrates heads it in! Socrates has scored! The Greeks are going mad, the Greeks are going mad! Socrates scores, got a beautiful cross from Archimedes. The Germans are disputing it. Hegel is arguing that the reality is merely an a priori adjunct of non-naturalistic ethics, Kant via the categorical imperative is holding that ontologically it exists only in the imagination, and Marx is claiming it was offside. A) TAA and Mitrovic (have VvD)

    B) Dier and Ings

TAA is essential and Mitro is average and plays for a total bilge team that are going to try and play possession in a league where they won't get any

      Maybe a different combination

You have a 6.5 forward suggestion to replace Mitro? I think Adams is risky.

Not the best person to ask. I really dislike the options at that price point so will be benching a striker and going between 8.5-10.5

Just 130 points at around the 6m mark when it's inevitable that form will force transfers is so unappealing. Wood goes on much whole half seasons without scoring.

Everyone up front at that price point is a crapshoot. Rotten

Don't like their fixtures unfortunately :/

      McCarthy Button
TAA Mitchell Ayling Vinagre ( AWB)
Mo Auba Koucek (Greenwood) ( Gordon)
      Vardy Jim Adams

Thought was to get Bruno in 2 and KdB in 3 and shift money back from Adams to get Doherty in 4 or so

        Taa Doherty Shaw Vinagre 4.0
        Salah Auba Son Soucek 4.5
        Vardy Adams Mitro

        Mitro/adams can be Wood after 2/3 gw's

We’re looking at almost the same here

Difference would be losing Doherty to Davies and putting Mitro in midfield . Haven’t juggled numbers yet to see what can be done there. But on principle I don’t want doubke 6.0 up top.

Unless and until Bats goes to Palace 🙂

Actually mate, there are at least options in that range to swap around.
Midfield below 8.5 is sh.tshow till Soucek IMHO.

Hence I'm looking at that Midfield. But i love Vardys fixtures.

Chilwell gone too bothers me. But Vardy is my lucky player. Got me respectability in 2018/19 and I’d have blasted it last time had I kept faith to the end and not sold him for Mo.

Palace will be interested I guess and may win out perhaps just because they are likely closest to offering him a run in the PL - what Klopp will want. There’s no competition really - Ayew has done great but is really a winger and that’s all we have right now.

Not sure they had it easy, but it may be hard to perform for a 3 Rd season in a row. I fancy Man City for the title this year. That said, I'm going with Salah from the off. Easier to downgrade than having to find funds if he does start well.

I've decided to go without Salah and Mané (I know, I know) in favour of other premium options.

I expect the two of them combined to score somewhere between 35-40 goals combined again, of which I predict TAA and Robbo will assist around 50-60%. Is this a viable strategy?

I can't think of any other premiums besides possibly United who have this level of point scoring alternative in the starting XI.

Puzzled why people prefer Mitro to Adams - almost unanimously.

Adams had a season to match Mitro in his last season in Championship. He has better fixtures, is cheaper, plays for a way better team and began to look hot in the PL.

There’s an awful lot of weight being put on a pretty humdrum season 2 years back - exact equivalent of Ayew last time. Really don’t see Fulham playing attacking football

Feel like this is the most balanced I've come up with so far for GW2 (will swap a couple out for GW1 and use 2 subs then get them back for gw2):

    Ryan (button)
    Doherty Robertson Baldock (Dallas Mitchell)
    Rashford Saka Greenwood DeBruyne Son
Ings Jiminez (Davis/ Brewster if loaned)
    0 ITB

Mitchell currently the weak link... Would be fodder but will need him GW1! Any tips??

Yeah, I'd expect ASM to be first choice left midfield. He may go back to right mid like he played under Rafa. If we don't replace Rose then he may end up competing with Dummet for left back.

              • 11 Years
              6 years, 7 days ago

I like the Ayling suggestion. He seems to get quite a bit of space with the ball in Leeds system (from the little I've seen) and the Premier league isn't blessed with too many good left wingers.

ASM should be nailed as long as his hamstring holds out.

I'm not 100% sure where Ritchie will play or if he's definitely nailed. At 5.0 he could be worth a punt.

I liked Tierney until he played LCB in the community shield

Trying really hard to find a 4.5 keeper besides McCarthy and Ryan. Is Johnston’s worth owning? Will West Brom keep clean sheets? Save points?

the Leeds keeper, Meslier i think (since it would be hard to play Casilla in the current climate after his racism ban), they have some decent fixtures after the Pool game, and even the Pool game he can rack up some save points

Our Story: Transfer is getting closer! Kai Havertz did not take part of the performance test today of @bayer04fussball (he completed the Corona tests on Friday and Saturday because he needs them for the national team)

      Not crazy about Chelsea defense.
      Otherwise it looks fine.

Out of your three: B, as I am not sure Ferguson is nailed.

    Mates any feedback here?

    McCarthy
    TAA; Davies; Dier; Vinagre
    Salah; Auba; Son; Ziyech
    Werner; Mitro

    Some considerations:
—> Ziyech to Greenwood after GW1 (I can start with Soucek instead of Ziyech, have 2.5 itb at least to do the Greenwood upgrade)
—> Auba to KDB after GW2

At that point I would have either 0.5 or 1 in the bank and will consider doing Son to Rash, Son to Pulli or Ziyech again, keep Son and save FT (decision would depend on form).

Sounds a decent plan in your view?

        Cheers!

        Yeah, will do so.

Will very likely do that spot (currently Ziyech) to Greenwood after GW1, as mentionned.

So if Ziyech seems to be out for GW1 I think I’ll go with Soucek and have 2.5mio itb to do the upgrade.

Anyone else waiting for Bats to get a gig? I’d have him as the king of the 6.0s.

I know Chelsea fans are sniffy - perhaps with reason for them - but he was great at Palace alongside Zaha when he went there. Can see him adding plenty almost wherever he went.

I remember seeing him at Marseille, and he was great.
Shame he went and sat on the bench for years.
