Potter explains Lamptey’s absence as Gameweek 12 finishes with double-header

Two Premier League matches kick off simultaneously at 19:15 GMT this evening and bring Gameweek 12 to a close.

Arsenal are looking to end a three-game losing streak at the Emirates when they take on Burnley, while Leicester City’s own iffy home form will be put to the test against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The absence of Tariq Lamptey (£4.8m) from the Seagulls’ matchday squad is the headline team news, with Graham Potter saying the wing-back’s omission was precautionary in nature:

The exclusion of Lamptey is one of three changes that Graham Potter has made from Monday’s 2-1 defeat by Southampton, with Aaron Connolly (£5.3m) and Adam Webster (£4.4m) also dropping out.

Neal Maupay (£6.1m), Alireza Jahanbakhsh (£5.4m) and Dan Burn (£4.3m) are recalled for Albion.

As for Leicester, Brendan Rodgers has largely stuck with the same side that snatched a last-gasp win over Sheffield United last Sunday.

Wilfred Ndidi (£4.8m) is in for Nampalys Mendy (£4.5m) but the Foxes are otherwise unchanged.

In north London, Mikel Arteta has made just one alteration from their defeat to Spurs.

It’s an enforced one, too, with the injured Thomas Partey (£5.0m) replaced by Mohamed Elneny (£4.4m) in central midfield.

Sean Dyche has named the same starting XI that drew 1-1 against Everton last weekend.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Bellerin, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Willian, Xhaka, Elneny, Saka, Lacazette, Aubameyang.

Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil, Brady, Wood, Rodriguez.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel, Fofana, Evans, Fuchs, Albrighton, Tielemans, Ndidi, Justin, Pérez, Maddison, Vardy.

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Ryan, Veltman, Dunk, Burn, Bissouma, White, March, Gross, Jahanbakhsh, Maupay, Welbeck.

    oh i have Maddison in my Sky team and i noticed last night i'm playing someone from this site who is slightly ahead of me in the FFS Sky league. in the Sky cup, it was 39-39 at the start of today now i'm up to 83 thanks to Madi and Salah(c), he probably has Vardy though with Salah(c) too so its squeaky bum time 🙂

      My view of the PL:

      Top teams: Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man Utd, Spurs
      Good teams: Leicester, Everton, Southampton, Arsenal*, Wolves
      Bad teams: Newcastle, Villa, Palace, West Ham, Leeds
      Terrible teams: Fulham, WBA, Sheff Utd, Brighton, Burnley

      * Controversial, but can see them being in the top half of the table by the time GW19 is done.

      Focus on the bottom 5 teams for fixtures and you should do well.

            The past is totally irrelevant in this context. Currently under OGS in my eyes they are not a top team. Under a different coach maybe .No rethink required. What about other teams "if they win games in hand ?".

    Horrible 2 GWs and took double hits in those. First ones of the season. I learned that never play this game with emotion.

    On friday before deadline last GW I felt that Zaha wouldnt do anything and it went all wrong from there..

    GW 11 transfers
    Martinez (0+11points) -> Mendy (2+3)
    Zaha (18+2) -> Mahrez (captain 8+3-4)

    Next day On satuday I transferred in rage two more while my captain Mahrez had failed and biggest rivals had KdB (C)...
    GW 12 transfers
    Vardy (11+) -> Bamford (5)
    Son (5) -> KdB (captain 6-4)

    not season defining mistakes but very close. In two seasons I havent played with emotion and first time I did it failed miserably. Lesson learned and onwards!

    A little stuck here. Want to get grealish in but have Salah, son, Bruno, KDB and soucek in. Dropping soucek would mean I have to downgrade strikers and defenders to make it work. I do have Ollie Watkins so I am covered with AVL attack but it's not grealish. Thoughts? I'm on WC

      Zero goal threat so as a captain you also have a very likely CS point
      Last game was 3-0
      KDB not crazy for him to be benched or come up early given they have 4th in the league Soton at the weekend (WBA screams a Foden game)
      Also ownership: Bruno 60% Vs KDB 33% - seems likely for Bruno to have 100% EO whereas KDB will easily be below 100%

    Took a -4, in order to bring in Salah(C). Would captained KDB if not.

    Kane+Vardy+Bissouma to Bamford+Watkins+Salah(c)

    Result:
    Kane(9)+(3)KDB+Vardy= 12+Vardy
    Bamford(5)+ Watkins (2)+Salah (14)= 21 (-4) = 17 Points

    What a waste.
