Two Premier League matches kick off simultaneously at 19:15 GMT this evening and bring Gameweek 12 to a close.

Arsenal are looking to end a three-game losing streak at the Emirates when they take on Burnley, while Leicester City’s own iffy home form will be put to the test against Brighton and Hove Albion.

The absence of Tariq Lamptey (£4.8m) from the Seagulls’ matchday squad is the headline team news, with Graham Potter saying the wing-back’s omission was precautionary in nature:

The exclusion of Lamptey is one of three changes that Graham Potter has made from Monday’s 2-1 defeat by Southampton, with Aaron Connolly (£5.3m) and Adam Webster (£4.4m) also dropping out.

Neal Maupay (£6.1m), Alireza Jahanbakhsh (£5.4m) and Dan Burn (£4.3m) are recalled for Albion.

As for Leicester, Brendan Rodgers has largely stuck with the same side that snatched a last-gasp win over Sheffield United last Sunday.

Wilfred Ndidi (£4.8m) is in for Nampalys Mendy (£4.5m) but the Foxes are otherwise unchanged.

In north London, Mikel Arteta has made just one alteration from their defeat to Spurs.

It’s an enforced one, too, with the injured Thomas Partey (£5.0m) replaced by Mohamed Elneny (£4.4m) in central midfield.

Sean Dyche has named the same starting XI that drew 1-1 against Everton last weekend.

Arsenal XI: Leno, Bellerin, Holding, Gabriel, Tierney, Willian, Xhaka, Elneny, Saka, Lacazette, Aubameyang.

Burnley XI: Pope, Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor, Westwood, Brownhill, McNeil, Brady, Wood, Rodriguez.

Leicester City XI: Schmeichel, Fofana, Evans, Fuchs, Albrighton, Tielemans, Ndidi, Justin, Pérez, Maddison, Vardy.

Brighton and Hove Albion XI: Ryan, Veltman, Dunk, Burn, Bissouma, White, March, Gross, Jahanbakhsh, Maupay, Welbeck.

Wenger was stale. In his 21/22 years at the club.

7 years ahead of the curve.
7 years on the curve (where managers like Mourinho, Benitez etc caught him up)
7 years behind the curve (where Klopp, Guardiola etc overtook him).

Biggest issue with Arsenal is there are too many bad characters at the club - Lacazette (sulky), Guendouzi (lacks discipline, but has gone on loan), Xhaka (moaner), Luiz (crybaby), Willian (money mercenary), Ozil (lazy).

Get rid of those and impose discipline. The type of discipline that Simeone imposes.

Wenger always knew the balance the team had to have - 4 at the back, 2 defensive mids, 2 creative mids, a winger and a striker (post-Invincibles era). Problem was he never had a (fit) defensive midfielder and two very solid centrebacks in the last few years. Arteta is having difficulties to form this balance because of who he even has available. He has 2 strikers, loads of wingers and box to box midfielders but no creatives. He is also stuck with a team that has built up its fear of any PL team possible and is absolutely unable to solve problems they’re faced with, somehow a problem of IQ.

The recruitment policy has been questionable at least. They were praised after some deals such as Gabriel and Partey, but buying Willian and selling Martinez just doesn’t make too much sense a few months later. I also blame AFTV for creating an atmosphere of negativity and clownship. Even the players became very intellectually limited after all of this came to be.

      Team Arteta should be playing:

      Leno
      Bellerin Holding Gabriel Tierney
      Partey Ceballos Elneny
      Saka Lacazette Aubameyang

Get a more mobile and quick midfield. If Partey is injured, put in Willock or drop Saka in midfield and put in Nelson or another mobile player in at RW.

Some of these players have run out of chances. It is time to play those who are doing well in Europa start and play in the PL. Especially the younger players and move underperformers like Xhaka and Aubameyang to Europa/cups, but even there they’ve run out of easier opponents.

Soucek (5.0m) or Bissouma (4.5m) for 5th mid? Soucek is obviously the most productive but both would pretty much always start on the bench anyway. Is splashing out the extra half million for Soucek a waste of good money or a wise investment...just in case?

    a) Jota for Bowen
