How many non-negotiables do people have?

I'm only going trent if they make a couple signings, he can only play that role with an effective dm next to him and they need another cb/lb

Do you not think he's good value even if he plays right back? Fair share of set pieces, a team that will score bundles of goals and he'll take most the free kicks
He's the most nailed on pick for me, can't see anyone on the game who gets close to his value for money

Believe it or not, I've actually only made 2 drafts so far & haven't tinkered since a few days after launch (feeling a bit more patient in seeing what preseason brings this year), so there's numerous other constants (Mitoma, Estupinan, Wissa, Martinelli, Rashford) but those 2 are the only absolute certainties

I've decided 2 x Brighton is sufficient as their fixtures change after 3 weeks. Estupinan is nailed for me so just one other from Mitoma. Enciso and Ferguson

I'm starting with Steele/Verbruggen in goal and Veltman/Webster. I think Brighton will strengthen in defence, so I'm waiting to see both who takes the gloves and who is a 4.5 starting defender. Both will be short-term - the keeper will be sold c GW3 and defender rotated on/off the bench after GW2.

I feel this is my best draft so far. 4-5-1. Set up for nkunku to replace foden if he is benched and to come in at gw2 without using a transfer if he looks decent in gw1 and flexibility to change to formation. No Shaw but Stones more likely clean sheets in my opinion

    Flekken
    Trent Gabriel Estupinan Stones
    Foden Saka Rashford Mitoma Mbuemo
    Haaland
    Areola
    Baldock
    Nkunku
    Mubama

    Any thoughts on this team?

    1. WVA
      • 9 Years

If 4-5-1 is your best draft I'd go again! United home v WOL and NFO look like the best opportunities for clean sheets early doors.

Man city have burney away that's a strong chance of a clean sheet. You can't say utd are less likely to concede against wolves

I've got a nice 3-5-2 with most of your players.

If Chelsea start well I could have chillwell and nkunku gw2 or I could replace nkunku with ferguson if he starts well. Lot of options. I think 4-5-1 is more flexible than most think considering how far we can stretch our budgets this year

If you believe in Nkunku downgrade one of the defenders or midfielders and play 3-5-2 or 4-4-2. Starting him at home to Liverpool shouldn't be a problem.

Dubious about having three City players in GW1 when Pep's roulette wheel could be already be on the high speed rotation setting...to the best of my knowledge, City's Super Cup fixture versus Seville is still scheduled for Wednesday,16th August in Athens ahead of the Toon fixture on the Saturday, although I stand to be corrected...accepting the fact that this is no different from any other GW with a European midweek fixture but the potential for nonsense/injuries might serve as a deterrent? Apologies if this is old news by the way..

Valid point. I guess I just wanted to be a bit different than the same old 3-5-2 with haaland and Jesus and I think stones is one of the more nailed city defenders. If it backfires I have nkunku to come in

What was the new change fpl was gonna announce? They said it like they were gonna announce a new game more or something but nothing happened. It's so weird that it's been forgotten about.

They said "a new format", and it appears the new format was simply the format in how the game was launched.

Wondering why Jota isn't in many teams? He was injured much of last season but when played, he got the points. Is it simply because people aren't sure who would start in the front 3?

Looks this will also help push the move for Harvey Barnes through. Barnes could be a FPL option depending on price, but Howe does have a tendency to ease players into the first team.

    Flekken | Areola
TAA Gabriel Estupinian Shaw | Beyer
Salah Saka Bruno Enciso | Nakamba

Thoughts on this 4-4-2??? Is Rashford worth the extra .5 over Fernandes? Is Enciso too risky?

Saliba is pure class Gabriel though pops up in the box more for headers. Tough one but Saliba is on the up so is my pick.

Agree with this , most drafts have Gabs but guess the ones not posting rmt's may have saliba who is as it happens is my pick .Was a bit unlucky missing the end of the season to injury and was greatly missed .

Gabriel had better mins per xA last season and far superior mins per xG. I expect he'll play as much as Saliba this season, excluding injuries, and Saliba's only marginally ahead on baseline bonus. There's not much wrong with picking Saliba, except if don't already own Gabriel 😉

    4. The Mentaculus
      • 4 Years
      2 years, 8 months ago

Both got 3 attacking returns last season but Gabriel from xG just over 5 & Saliba just below 1. He's clearly the bigger target on set pieces. I've heard it said that Saliba is better for bonus but statistically the difference looks fairly marginal (6.1/6.6 mins/baseline BPS)

If/when they sign another RB I would be slightly wary, as it seemed like Young was preferred at times last season even when Cash was apparently fit. No real competition at the moment though

Seen people saying Carlos as inverted RB with Pau and Migs CB etc so definitely one to watch, Mings was a monster for me when i got him in last season so like the Villa defence but will definitely wait on them

If Onana comes in at 5m this team hits all the right points.

    Onana (4.0)
    TAA Gabriel Estupinan (4.5 4.0)
    Rashford Saka Foden Mitoma Mbeumo
    Haaland Jesus/Nkunku (4.5)

I dunno if going without TAA & Salah is wise but this is my draft

    Pickford
    Botman Shaw Estup
    Bruno Rashford Foden Saka Martinelli
    Jesus Haaland
    4.0 Cash Beyer 4.5

    1. WVA

      It's a very nice front 7.

If Onana comes in at 5, you could have him over Pickford and Gabriel over Shaw. Botman has bad fixtures, I'd go for Henry and Pau Torres as my 4.5 defenders.

    Flek
    Stones Estu Gabriel
    Rashford Saka Foden Mitoma Mbeumo
    Ferguson Haaland

    Areola Gakpo Baldock Beyer

I know everyone advises against it, but first transfer after gameweek 1 is likely to be

    Stones to TAA
    Mitoma to Son

    Thoughts?
