Last week being the exception, my points for GK have been nothing to write home about 2, 1, 4, 1, 9.

Anyone else thinking just go with Raya on WC, if the worst happens and he doesn't play, just have no GK this week?

As terrible as Henderson's been he's actually outscored Flekken and is only 2 points behind Ederson.

In general I just think the goalie position is a bit of a crapshoot. Just pick someone who'll play that isn't gonna concede 2 goals/game and you're fine. And don't try to rotate them.

If you tried to rotate Flekken + Henderson so far you'd have most likely got it wrong every single week and would have been better off just picking one or the other.

      1. have you seen cyan

Ederson and Flekken are also pretty useless though.

I think if you don't think he plays its a much bigger dilemma than 1 week. Chances of him making PSG a few days later would be slim. Miss that too which is a huge game then the doubts really start to creep in. How long do you go with no keeper and Raya blocking an Arsenal slot? Probably takes up 2 transfers to move him and get another Arsenal. He's great but if I was WC I'd just double theel defence and find another. He probably wont make many saves vs Lei and Sou anyway so the defenders might be better for those games.

True and good point. In my head I was thinking max he would miss is one game, but in truth we have no idea, could well be out for weeks.

I think its also an opportunity cost of potentially missing a double clean not just having a non-playing keeper. To stress I'm not in that boat and I'm glad I'm not for this Raya situation alone

It's not as easy as just swapping Raya to a 4.5 and another def to Saliba though, have to find that .5 from somewhere.

I'd be looking at something along the lines of Raya/Myko/Lewis to Sanchez/Saliba/VDB

I would look at over the coming fixtures, where you have to think on current form Mbueno is going to significantly outpoint Bruno. Over one game anything can happen (especially with a player of Bruno's ability), but over the medium term it's easier to back Mbuemo to do the business.

From the BBC - Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta began his news conference with an injury update.

He was asked about David Raya’s chances of starting tomorrow: “We have to wait 24 hours to see if he is looking good or not that good. It’s not risk, it is about a player being fit or available or not. We will make the decision tomorrow.”

It's so predictable with him now in press conferences, he obviously views them as part of the game, where he tries to reveal nothing and give away no advantage to anyone else in the game. It's boring. I'm so tired of his utter dross now. Why even bother giving a press conference if your goal is to try and say nothing. Why no just sit there and actually say nothing, or simply not turn up? He's wasting everyone's time.

He's there because he has to be. There's no rule that says he must tell everyone if his player(s) can play or not

They're contractually obligated to do press conferences, post match interviews etc.

It's not utter dross. If you're not even a Raya owner, you're wasting your own time 😀

What to do with this horrible lot:

    Raya (Areola)
    Romero, Robinson, THB, (Johnson, Nedeljkovic)
    Palmer, Salah, Smith-Rowe, Rogers, Madueke
    Haaland, Solanke, (Joao Pedro)

    2FT, 0.5 ITB, no WC

    I know, it's a mess... so:
    1) Pedro to Ndiaye (good fixtures) or RaulJimi (good form)
    2) Johnson / Nedel to Rico Lewis (didn't start mid week and may replace Rodri)
    3) Both of the above or something else?

It's not that bad. You can field a decent front 7 and bench Pedro and wait for more news (although another price drop could loom - depends on your SP for him).

Defence needs sorting though. Looks quite horrible. Need more sure-starters, so it's a no on Lewis for me.

Yep. I even removed him yesterday from wc bus team and then he rose in price. The other players on my wc tinkering that I kept till today (Saka, Semenyo, Mbuemo) did not even rise even though it was expected.

Guardiola was asked if Rico Lewis inverting into midfield, something that happened when Rodri was not available at the start of 2024/25, was his “strongest solution” to life without the Spaniard.

“It is one of [the strongest solutions]. We have a few more. Gundo can play in that position, John Stones. John and Manu [Akanji] have played in that position, so we have alternatives to do it.” – Pep Guardiola

Am thinking of bringing him in - not just because of Pep's comments but because Walker started mid week I reckon Lewis may start this w/e.
