A shortage of pre-launch reveals meant we were engulfed with Fantasy Premier League (FPL) player prices when the game went live.

It was difficult to know where to start.

We’re currently processing the player prices position by position, starting with the cheapest forwards in the game and those in the £6.0m-£7.0m bracket. This came in the wake of our ‘first impressions’ article.

We’ll be looking at value (last year’s points, this year’s prices) soon, too.

In this brief article, though, it’s more route one: the biggest risers and fallers.

Yet more thanks go to TopMarx, who has supplied us with the data to work from.

PRICE RISES

There were 116 players who rose in price for FPL 2025/26.

£2.0M RISES

Four players rose by a joint-high £2.0m: Morgan Rogers (£7.0m), Joao Pedro (£7.5m), Mohamed Salah (£14.5m) and Alexander Isak (£10.5m).

You can certainly understand that in the cases of record-busting Salah, top-scoring forward Isak and the grossly undervalued (last season) Rogers.

Pedro is an interesting one and you wonder how much his climb was due to the excellent start to his Chelsea career in the FIFA Club World Cup.

He’s never really been a prolific goalscorer: he’s scored just five non-penalty goals in each of the last two seasons. Given that he’ll surely cede spot-kick duties to Cole Palmer (£10.5m), he’ll have to buck the trend of previous seasons to merit a £7.5m price tag.

£1.5M RISES

Another dozen players climbed by £1.5m.

Most were unsurprising: Yoane Wissa (£7.5m), Chris Wood (£7.5m) and Matheus Cunha (£8.0m) were always going to rise after their free-scoring campaigns.

Probably the most eyebrow-raising are Enzo Fernandez (£6.5m), Kevin Schade (£7.0m) and Omar Marmoush (£8.5m).

With Enzo, it’s perhaps pre-emptive. With Romeo Lavia (£5.0m) and Reece James (£5.5m) (sort of) fit and increasingly the ones used alongside Moises Caicedo (£5.5m), Enzo may get more chances to play further forward and gatecrash the opposition box a bit more. It’s not as if he’s going to be a magnet for defensive contribution points: he would only have got six of those last season. Caicedo would have bagged 42, for context.

Schade was a bit of a Fantasy afterthought last season, thanks to Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo (£7.0m), but can he be Brentford’s talisman this year after the exit of one and the possible departure of the other?

It went under the radar that Schade himself delivered 15 attacking returns despite starting just 26 games. That’s the same number of goals and assists as £6.5m trio Ismaila Sarr, Kaoru Mitoma and Alex Iwobi banked, with Schade rising even beyond that group.

Marmoush, now a midfielder, did score seven goals in 14 starts last season but the competition is fiercer than ever at City. He pretty much featured only as Erling Haaland‘s (£14.0m) deputy in the Club World Cup, rather than out wide.

PRICE FALLS

A grand total of 72 players dropped in price this summer.

£1.5M DROPS

No one dropped by £2.0m so the biggest falls were the £1.5m losses suffered by Mykhailo Mudryk (£5.0m), Phil Foden (£8.0m) and Son Heung-min (£8.5m).

Mudryk is still provisionally suspended by the Football Association, so there’s no FPL interest there.

Son’s future is up in the air, meanwhile, with Thomas Frank cagey about the Korean. Son’s decline from £12.0m midfielder in 2022/23 to mid-price asset now mirrors his own career trajectory, and he’s very much a fading force at 33 even if he stays in north London.

Foden is the most enticing one here.

The England international endured a dip in levels last season. The player himself admitted that there were off-the-field mental struggles.

Perhaps this summer will serve as a big ‘reset’ – and the signs in the States were promising as he emerged from the Club World Cup as City’s joint-top goalscorer (three). His swagger was back and his long-lost knack of half-yards of space in the box returned.

And yet… he still only started one match out of four in the US. Even at a cut-price £8.0m, rotation concerns abound.

£1.0M DROPS

In terms of £1.0m drops, Kieran Trippier (£5.0m) catches the eye. While not the player he was, his points-per-start average of 4.4 was better than almost every other FPL defender last season. With Lewis Hall (£5.5m) working his way back from injury and Tino Livramento (£5.0m) having a delayed summer break thanks to England under-21 involvement, Trippier may well start the season at right-back.

A move to Manchester United would perhaps rekindle some FPL interest in Nicolas Jackson (£6.5m), especially a) after a price drop and b) factoring in the Cunha/Mbeumo/Fernandes supply line. He’s a sub-par finisher, let’s be honest, but has still averaged 18 attacking returns per season since joining Chelsea. He serves a suspension in Gameweek 1, of course.

Wolves’ Rodrigo Gomes (£4.5m) is now not just £1.0m cheaper but also a defender. Could he be the Rayan Ait-Nouri (£6.0m) replacement, having filled in for him last season?

Most of the other million-pound drops have game-time concerns hanging over them, including Ben White (£5.5m). Niclas Fullkrug (£6.0m) is a potential starter up front for West Ham United, however.

Kyle Walker (£4.5m), despite his fall, will still be too pricey for many at Burnley, who can offer £4.0m options elsewhere.

I look on the stats page on the desktop website - click top left of screen to bring up stat choice - move mouse far right then scroll wheel to stat and select. Then slide mouse down to bottom right of screen and click save changes

Then move mouse top left again to filter by position - then move mouse far right of screen to select position/club. Then move mouse bottom right of screen to save changes

Then i go back to top left of screen and I've forgotten what I came here for.

Tried a question in copilot and it offered me a bunch of NFL advice.

Tried creating a badge with the blunt Adobe tool - eventually got something only for it to be in perpetual 'pending moderation'

    Such fun.

I couldn't get that badge thing to work either.

And having to hit save for every filter is seriously stupid

All the mouse sliding and "save changes" is terrible, and you have to do it on all the important pages: Pick Team, Transfers, Stats.

Also I keep having to log on, every day maybe, compared to perhaps once a month.

    a) Sels and Darlow or
    b) Kelleher and Verbruggen

Decent rotation on b, but not sure how good either will actually be

So I made a draft that included Haaland, Salah, Saka, and Palmer. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It does rely on a 4mil starting keeper, but RMT had it hitting 60 pts all of the first few weeks.

It's pretty annoying that when you open & close the sidebar now it takes you back to the top of the page (on mobile). So e.g. if reading a comment and wanting to check the fixture ticker while writing a reply, you then have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page again

And +1 for complaints I've already seen from Cyan and others about the recent comments list no longer auto-updating (and only showing 5 most recent now with no option to scroll down). Navigation of the site generally seems worse since these updates

Cheers. I’d say Malen is to be verified, but has more upside due to other players leaving. Could become Reijnders or another 5.5 mid as well, but then I’d be looking to squeeze in Rogers over Ndiaye and get McNeil as 5th mid.

Kostoulas is definitely a risk, but one worth taking.

Longstaff had during last two seasons 58 starts, 7 goals + 8 assists. I need to check stats of the others. His contribution depends on his role, I don't remember having paid much attention, if at all, to those 3 others.

Leeds bias here but I'm really happy with the Longstaff signing, and he could chip in with more attacking returns than the others on this list too. Baleba's ultra-aggro style should land him somewhere near the top of the DC list again. Adams slightly behind those 2 I'd guess, and I wouldn't even consider Wharton - just 4 DC pts last year & not sure he's nailed at all

Wharton is 100% nailed when fit (had injury issues last year).

Best 4.5 million defenders look better than these 5.0 mids. They are probably mostly bench warmers in most fpl teams. However, both can be started if necessary imo. Baleba likes cards more, got even one red last season.

With your bias . I know it's far to early for a proper draft team are you looking at putting Bogle in.

Tempting but probably not to be honest. Would only fancy starting him in GW1 and generally I'm not optimistic about how our defence will dare. And definitely went overboard on Leeds picks last season in PL (which was my first time playing FPL)

      As strong as everyone else's.

Watch out for Bradley and Barry.

I can't see Bradley being totally dropped, so he will eat Frimpong's minutes imo. I won't start with that risk.

    Kerkez or Frimpong?

I think both probably lose some minutes but Kerkez feels like he's more ahead of Robbo than Frimpong is of Bradley.

Yes, but I expect Robbo to lose his his place possibly gradually and perhaps not from the start of the season. I think I will start with VvD and reassess later.

I see a lot of Rice in teams. I get targeting Arsenal's early fixtures, I just figured Trossard myself. Is it a price thing?

He's on free kicks and generally started to show a bit more attacking threat towards the end of last season. I think the anticipation is that the Zubimendi signing will push him further forward too. And now with the defensive contributions he has more routes to points. So potentially a good value pick.

Would have picked up 18 extra points for DCs last year, and the Zubimendi factor mentioned above (potentially enabling him to play more advanced as left 8).

I wouldn't go near Trossard with Gyokeres & Madueke joining, think he'll be pretty marginal this season if/when everyone is fit

New assist rule with those free kicks kicks in slightly(?) I agree, Rice easily over Trossard.

Always love a few differentials in a draft early on.

    Thoughts?

    Kelleher
    Saliba Colwill Konsa
    Salah Wirtz Odegaard Eze Reijnders
    Isak Solanke

    Petrovic AWB Geuhi Fraser.

Seems to be pretty highly regarded but only 18 & barely played one full season in Greece, so I'd assume he's more like the Welbeck successor in a couple of seasons time, and maybe behind Rutter for now too

If you want to rose-tint it he probably has the highest potential of the 5m forwards though & could be given an opportunity if e.g. he has a really strong preseason & Welbeck gets injured

    No Salah/Haaland draft. Thoughts?

    Ederson
Van Dijk - Gvardiol - Udogie
    Palmer - Saka - Wirtz - Rogers - Kudus
    Watkins - Solanke
    (Darlow - Saliba - Konsa - Kroupi.Jr)

People will say Ederson isn't the best choice of goalkeeper but on a PPG basis he absolutely blew every other goalkeeper out of the water this calendar year. I'm not sure he's good for another four assists this season though 🙂

I’d squeeze in Isak if you go without the other big guns. Also I’d prefer Cucu over Gvardiol, given the reduced attacking threat from the latter. Perhaps Sels iso Ederson?
